Shirley Johnson
was born and raised in the state of New Jersey to an
Italian-American family. Much of her zest for life and
her love for family comes from that background. Married
at the age of 19 to her first husband, she was thrust
into the world of travel, as her then husband was a
'lifer' in the US Army.
Traveling over the next 10 years
to many States in American and Countries overseas gave
Shirley a good perspective of the world that we all
live in. Divorced after ten years of marriage left Shirley
alone with three young children to raise. Because of
that experience, she learned a lot about survival and
what was important in life. It was through this time
that she dedicated her life to the Lord. She married
Robert Johnson in 1980. Both are Ordained Ministers
and have been in the ministry for over 20 years.
Shirley is a songwriter. Together with her nephew Michael,
they have written over 2,000 songs, mostly Christian,
but many for children. They maintain a website to share
these songs with others.
Shirley is writing a humor series, "The Adventures
of Fos and Prissy." So far she has completed two
books in the series - " What the Heck Happened?"
and "What's that Smell?" She plans at least
3 more books in the near future for this series. She
also has written 100’s of children's books; some
secular, some Christian. All are set to music and fully
illustrated.
Shirley has a Bachelor Degree
in Christian Counseling from Zoe University in Jacksonville,
Florida. Although she does not use that professionally
at this time, she does use the knowledge she obtained
from that training in ministering to those God sends
her way. She also answer prayer requests on Praise Broadcasting
Network as they come in.
She is a Reviewer and Interviewer for MidWest Book Review
and Denise's Pieces. She enjoys this work as she feels
she is helping authors to 'get the word out' concerning
their writings.
Shirley has three books published. "A Divorced
Mother Talks to God," and two children's books,
"Red and His Fur Hat" and "Billy Brimbly.”
