Sylvia Maltzman was born in
Michigan but raised in Florida, where she has spent
most of her life. She began attempting to write poetry
at age 13, had 6 poems published in vanity presses by
age 18, and wrote her first short stories at age 19.
She earned her Bachelors Degree in English from Florida
International University in 1993. Ms. Maltzman now makes
her home in a Miami Beach studio apartment with her
soulmate Raul, tons of books, and a few struggling house
plants. She is tall, red-headed by choice, green-eyed
by birth, full-figured by the grace of Goddess. Her
work has appeared in various venues, sometimes anonymously,
across the U.S. and on Internet websites. She has won
a couple of awards, nothing too spectacular. Down to
the Wire is her first book of poems.
