Being an avid reader all my
life, I decided fifteen years ago to try my hand at
writing. To my delight, I gradually found my into writing
country-living article for three of our local weekly
newspapers. From there, I wrote several children's stories
for Cricket, Clubhouse and Highlights For Children.
I'm also an avid listener to situations around me. Picking
up on stories in the newspapers or women's conversations
around me and to letters in Dear Abby, I began writing…and
to my delight, I sold stories to the Macfadden publishing
group. I found through these short stories that I enjoy
working through relationships, and love problems with
my characters. Being also legally blind, I wrote articles
and stories for Young and Alive and Dialogue, both publications
for the visually impaired.
Besides writing, I enjoy painting
landscapes in oils and watercolors, square dancing and
round dancing with my husband of forty-six years. I
also teach clogging—an Appalachian folk dance
with taps on the shoes—in my small studio at the
house four times a week.
I'm very excited about eBooks
and hope to be lucky enough to keep myself busy writing
for that market. With adjustable-fonts capabilities
in the eBooks, I believe they will fill a real need
for the visually-impaired reader.
I have three grown daughters,
six grandchildren, and a husband who has stayed with
me through thick and thin. We both love to camp, and
as I mentioned, square dance.
