Roxanne Smolen would
never make a great Jedi--her mind is rarely on where
she is at or what she is doing. In fact, she spent her
childhood so deeply engrossed in her fantasy worlds,
her parents would punish her by forcing her to watch
TV.
She credits both for her writing style. Her fiction
encompasses inventive worlds and surprising aliens with
end-of-chapter cliffhangers enticing you to read just
a little further. Yet however outlandish her plots may
become, her underlying themes are always the same--believe
in yourself and never give up.
Smolen volunteers her time as a creative writing teacher
to blind children, a program she spearheaded at the
Broward Lighthouse.
