Don was born in Oregon and grew
up in Alaska and in Idaho, where his family had a farm.
He concentrated on math and science in college. He spent
several seasons as a commercial clam digger in Alaska.
He also worked for a time as a hardrock miner in Colorado
and as a geophysicist for a major corporation. He currently
works as a freelance writer. He has over 200 publications,
most of which are short stories in literary magazines.
He has spent considerable time mountain climbing, bike
touring in Europe, and sailing. He and his wife, Maryann,
currently live in Texas with their four cats. The six
of them travel frequently in their RV.
