Mindy Wilson has
been married for nearly twenty years, she and her husband
have two school aged children and live in Montana.
Mindy wrote In a Parrot’s
Shoes, illustrated by Ed Woodward III, to show
children an example of good decision making regarding
friendship. She boasts often to friends about the illustrations
that Mr. Woodward created with showing the characters
having such colorful personalities. “He is very
talented and I was fortunate to have been able to work
with him.”
When the opportunity came along
for her to illustrate The Halloween Tree written
by Tina Roark, she was eager to start the job. Mindy’s
comments: “This was an incredible chance for me
to build upon my talent and creativity. Tina Roark’s
story filled my head with pictures immediately. The
story is fun and full of imagination. After accepting,
I could not sleep for a week! While actually working
on the illustrations, I felt like every day was the
most special day, as if I was Queen of Drawing. My family
was the ultimate in support. Everyone pitched in to
help around the house. The project was time consuming,
but I loved every minute. To this day I know I couldn’t
have completed without the help of my kids and their
terrific ideas!”
Since the release of The
Halloween Tree, October 2003, she has been working
on additional illustration projects of her own, as well
as children’s manuscripts from other authors and
continued writing for children and adults.
