On his first raid
into enemy territory, a 16 year-old Sioux boy named
Little Hawk violates his responsibility of tending the
auxiliary horses. Seeing his companion warriors outnumbered,
Little Hawk enters the fray, deserting his post and
breaking the code of his duty. The tribal leaders banish
him from camp for a period of one year, sending him
to survive on his own in the wilderness.
Hurt by what he sees as an injustice, and haunted by
dreams of the death of his parents, Little Hawk decides
to take revenge on the Crows. But his plan to kill two
of their people changes into the abduction of a young
woman and he soon realizes that this woman is the Chief's
favorite child – Blue-Eyed Daughter.
The ensuing legend of Bone Dancer builds when Little
Hawk tames a powerful black stallion (the Black Devil
horse), then rides him against the Crow and Pawnee warriors.
