In the spring of 1977, William
Prunellier finds himself alone in life, yet struggling
to connect with his thirteen-year-old granddaughter,
Flambée. On the eve of his death, he wanders
into the French countryside to reflect on the stubborn
battles of his eighty-one-year-old life, in search of
grand lessons to teach his granddaughter. In his pursuit
of wisdom, he surrenders his habitual existence.
