EXCERPT
Don’t ruffle her feathers. Don’t
get her upset.
Prima Donna Duck won’t even get wet.
The other ducks say, “She’s really
quite vain.
Why, Prima Donna Duck won’t go out in the rain!”
Prima Donna Duck once mentioned to Mouse,
“The barnyard’s too trashy. I belong in a house.”
She grumbled to Goose, “The pond is
too chilly.
And all of that diving just makes one look silly!”
“Why, honking and quacking disturb those
nice folks
who live in the house beyond the tall oaks.”
“I’m sure they would rather have me at their side
to admire my feathers and watch me with pride.”
“I know I’m quite special,”
Prima Donna told Owl.
“And I’ll prove to you all that I’m a superior
fowl.”
