The Caterpillar That Wouldn't Change
by Nancy Mure
Nancy Mure´ has done such a wonderful
job in telling a story that speaks as much to adults as
it does to children. Too often, we get stuck in our comfort
zone, where fear takes over and we become trapped, afraid
of change and growing. And so, our fear of failure prevents
us from enjoying thrilling adventures and new experiences.
Nancy simply and eloquently reminds us that when we open
our eyes to possibility and have a true desire to grow and
change we can overcome our fear, call upon our inner strength,
evolve and realize our full potential. Learning these lessons
as a child makes our adult life that much easier.

Who wants to change? No one, at first. Nancy
S. Mure´ faced the challenge by writing her first
children’s picture book, The Caterpillar That Wouldn’t
Change, about that theme. The beautifully illustrated book,
by Kezia Terracciano, allows children to see what has to
happen within a person if the change is going to happen
willfully. You have to wanna change. And Mure´ allows
her character Nelle, the caterpillar, to disobey and refuse
to change. Mure’s book does not contain the age-old
adage that change is good for you. Instead, she creates
a positive reason for change, not forced. This allows children
the freedom to choose and thus see their change through
their own eyes, rather than a continued situation of parental
obedience. I recommend this book to all children and especially
their parents!

Ms. Mure´ taps into our minds with her
catchy phrasing especially when trying a bit harder is warranted.
Since reading “The Caterpillar that Wouldn’t
Change” I hear my inner voice repeating its phrase
and it pushes me when I think I can’t go any further.
This book is a treasure and shares a lesson we all want
for ourselves and our children.

Ms. Mure's tale of the Caterpillar that is reluctant to
change introduces young children to a familiar issue. She
shows her audience how some embrace change, while others
fear the unknown. She weaves many other lessons into her
tale which will captivate children and astonish parents
and teachers as well. A feel-good story to be enjoyed for
years!

Sometimes the smallest tale can have the largest impact.
Not since “The Places you’ll Go”, by Dr
Seuss, have I seen a story so boundless! Brilliantly thought
out and simply put. I wanna read "The Caterpillar That
Wouldn’t Change" again and again!

Nancy S. Mure's writing is a breath of fresh air. She has
a delightful way of telling young people that life is about
embracing change. It's the "Who Moved My Cheese?"
for children.
