Reviews for
In a Parrot's Shoes
by Mindy Wilson
Illustrated by Ed Woodward III

As a story that any child or adult can relate to, Wilson's book comes highly recommended by this reviewer. The main character doesn't like being like everyone else he likes being original. Mindy soon befriends Megan, but soon the two begin to see things differently when Mindy starts to

mimic/parrot everything that Megan does. With advice from her mom, Megan's anger turns to open-mindedness and soon they begin to appreciate each other's differences. This book is a wonderful teaching tool for children in showing them the importance of allowing friends to be different, as everyone is special in their own way. The watercolor illustrations flatter the inspiring story while adding a touch of character.

Welcome to Mindy's fifth grade life. She is a typical fifth grader who thinks she has found a new friend in Megan Parrot. They have a good time together until Mindy is disturbed by Megan's constant need to copy the things Mindy does and the things she wears, and eats. This is her first real relationship challenge, should she dump on her new friend? After all who needs someone that is a "copier," or a "parrot"?

In a Parrot's Shoes, written by fellow mom Mindy Wilson and illustrated by Ed Woodward III (SynergEbooks, Inc.), is a story that aims to teach one example of good decision-making regarding friendship. Find out how Mindy deals with her painful decision and who she finds to help her end Megan's copying ways.

"This is a beautifully illustrated story and something that every child in school can relate to in his or her own personal experience," Mindy says.
