In a Parrot's Shoes
by Mindy Wilson
Illustrated by Ed Woodward III
As a story that any child or adult can relate to, Wilson's
book comes highly recommended by this reviewer. The main character
doesn't like being like everyone else he likes being original.
Mindy soon befriends Megan, but soon the two begin to see things
differently when Mindy starts to
mimic/parrot everything that Megan does. With advice from her
mom, Megan's anger turns to open-mindedness and soon they begin
to appreciate each other's differences. This book is a wonderful
teaching tool for children in showing them the importance of
allowing friends to be different, as everyone is special in
their own way. The watercolor illustrations flatter the inspiring
story while adding a touch of character.
