Wake Me When It's Over
by Sandy Knauer

Author Sandy Knauer has a question for you - what's your definition of a nightmare? Try this . . .

The police receive an anonymous phone call reporting the murder of a boy, the son of a cop. His bashed body lies lifeless at the side of the road in the middle of the night. No one understands how this could happen to Tony Mordano, a regular, nothing special, teenage kid. He's hardly your typical murder victim. There are no obvious motives for the crime. There are no witnesses to the crime. And no one saw it coming. No one but you. Except you never saw the murder when it actually happened, because you dreamed it the night before.

Legal secretary Nicole Whittingford is the dreamer. She's frightened. She's confused. She's telling her friend Erin McCalley the details of her dream at a bar. Rosie Lawrence is the bartender who eavesdrops the conversation. She tells the cops. Nicole now finds herself under suspicion. The hunt for the killer is on, and the pressure is mounting on Nicole Whittingford to save herself, and solve the case by unlocking the secret recesses of her own mind in order to find the vital clues to the kill. But to witness the crime, she must first witness her own psychic awakening.

Wake Me When It's Over, has the author confronting her well drawn, three dimensional characters with the challenges encountered by a world of preconceptions and prejudice. Knauer's style is natural, uncluttered, and flows freely. The plotting facets of introduction, suspense, climax, and conclusion are all handled with ease. The intellectual, emotional, and aesthetic qualities of Knauer's writing are thoughtfully applied throughout. Despite dealing with a psychological theme, and all of the attendant dangers of same, this work remains accessible and logical, from the first page to the last.

A winner from Sandy Knauer and the SynergEbooks table.
