Chapter 24: Swablu’s First Battle

  Morning.

  Beneath Mt. Chimney.

Swablu perched on Torii's head, who was dressed in casual attire, curiously taking in everything.

For the newborn creature, everything outside was so novel.

As the first being to accompany Swablu, Torii was regarded as its only family member, even without the constraint of a Poké Ball.

The moment Torii gently pced the newly hatched Swablu on his head, he and Swablu were destined to be connected.

If, after a Trainer catches a new Pokémon, the Pokémon's initial expression is mostly bewilderment and docility,

then the look in Swablu's eyes towards Torii was affection and dependence.

Looking at Swablu, theoretically his first captured Pokémon, Torii's smile was constantly on his face. This little fellow with extraordinary potential would be tightly linked to Torii's future.

  "Cheep~~~~~~~"

Greeting the rising sun, Torii gently stroked Swablu. Swablu seemed to enjoy this stroking as well, comfortably lying on Torii's hair, revealing a somewhat zy appearance.

"That won't do," Torii said with a light smile.

The one-month assessment period was still ahead, and what awaited him and Swablu was not leisure and vacation. This month, he and Swablu would spend their time constantly battling, training, and honing their skills.

Only in this way could Swablu's potential and foundation be maximized!

It had only been a little over ten days since leaving Autumnleaf Town, and Torii had already met Master Katsumune, become a junior Breeder himself, and preliminarily obtained a very satisfactory, even surprising, second Pokémon. This filled Torii with hope for the future.

In order to live up to Master Katsumune's expectations and rightfully become Swablu's Trainer, he had to make full use of this remaining month, no matter how hard or tiring it was. To obtain Swablu and enter Celestial Academy, this month's efforts should be worth it. Moreover, if he couldn't bear this little hardship, how could he make a name for himself and bring a better life to everyone at Green Roof?

Torii had already marked the pces he had determined to be safe when he came, so the pces he and Swablu passed through would not be too dangerous.

  "Rustle~rustle~~"

As Torii and Swablu moved forward, the sound of rustling grass entered their ears.

Quickly gncing over, Torii was delighted: "Found it!"

A small worm whose body was composed of red and white, with red spines on its back, slowly crawled out, its eyes staring straight at them.

Torii naturally wouldn't be wandering aimlessly. To understand Swablu's condition as soon as possible, he naturally needed to find an opponent, but this opponent couldn't be too strong. Swablu was newly born, and even if its potential was great, its current strength was very weak.

In this kind of pce, Wurmple, a Pokémon at the bottom of the food chain, naturally became the best choice.

However, there weren't many Wurmple around Mt. Chimney. It took Torii and Swablu a lot of time to finally see one, the unlucky guy in front of them.

It didn't know at this moment that it had become Torii's "sparring partner".

Having trained a Wurmple to evolve into Butterfree, Torii naturally knew the characteristics of this very common Pokémon. Overall, Wurmple's strength wasn't very strong, but if they were in a life-or-death crisis, they would also release poison from the spines on their tails and resist desperately.

So, if they weren't too provoked, they would be a good target to bully.

After all, Wurmple only knew Tackle, String Shot, and Poison Sting, a few moves. If he dealt with them carefully, it shouldn't be a problem for Swablu. Although they couldn't be said to be natural enemies, Swablu was, after all, a bird, and had a natural restraint against Wurmple.

Moreover, Torii was well prepared. He carried the most basic amount of medicine and antidote.

"Alright, this is our first battle on the road to becoming stronger!" Torii encouraged Swablu. As a Trainer, although sometimes he could suppress certain Pokémon with his personal strength, the main thing was to order his Pokémon to fight. As a controller of the battlefield, he was a participant but not personally involved in the battle.

After a night of adaptation and growth, Swablu could already rely on itself to fly in the air.

Although it didn't look smooth, Torii was already very satisfied to have reached this point. After a few more days of practice, and its wings developed more completely, Swablu should be able to fly more leisurely.

Regarding battle, Swablu, although newly born, had some resentment, but its bloodline was still filled with some warlike genes, so Swablu was also very curious about the novel term "battle".

It could also feel the energy contained within its body.

Some basic moves seemed to be engraved in the Pokémon's memory.

Under Torii's command, Swablu flew towards Wurmple, as if to show its power, and Wurmple also understood at this moment that the newcomer was not friendly. However, the little guy didn't turn around and run, which relieved Torii.

  "Whoosh..."

A String Shot was unched from Wurmple's mouth, directly scaring Swablu, and without Torii's command, Swablu was directly hit from the start.

"Find a way to solve it." On the sidelines, Torii watched calmly. Although Pokémon relied on the Trainer's command, some of the most basic things, such as dodging moves, finding opportunities to attack, and seizing opponents' mistakes, also required the Pokémon to have a "spirituality" of its own.

It could also be called "combat awareness."

These things needed to be experienced by the Pokémon from the very beginning. If the Pokémon formed its own style, it would be a little te to reverse it.

Swablu, wrapped in white silk thread and falling to the ground, cried out painfully. However, after hearing Torii's words, it immediately adopted a stance, using its sharp beak to peck at the silk thread on its body.

  "First move, Peck."

Torii silently recited in his heart. Peck was Swablu's most basic move, and it wasn't surprising to use it, but at this moment, a faint white halo was clearly fshing on the tip of Swablu's beak, which indicated that the heat of Peck had been slightly improved.

When using Peck, it could contain most of the energy in the beak, and that would be considered a perfect use. Swablu still had a long way to go on this point.

"Peck, it seems that we need to formute a practice pn for this move."

Having systematically studied the relevant knowledge of breeding Pokémon, Torii knew that most Trainers had gone into a misunderstanding, that was, ignoring the Pokémon's "weak" or "impractical" moves. But little did they know that although these moves might not have great tactical value in battle, they were an important point to stimute the Pokémon's growth and influence the overall development of the Pokémon from subtle pces.
