Chapter 116
this is a fictional story by realTensai
Alvis sprinted, the scent of blood thickening with every step. Screams clashed like thunder against the walls of his sanity, and when he rounded the corner, the nightmare unveiled itself once again.
Chaos unfolded across the field. Students tore into one another with savage fury, demons and humans locked in a brutal, senseless war. Fists collided with flesh, spells ignited the night sky, and magical tools hissed and burst with violent energy. Sparks danced like fireflies over wounded students, and every scream was swallowed by the roar of hatred. Neither side yielded. They fought not for victory, but for destruction. Someone caught Alvis’ attention. A student lying on the ground with broken legs stared at him, horror branded in his eyes as he used his bloody hands to crawl away from this insanity.
Alvis just stared at him, his eyes unmoved, his heart already hardened.
Every hair on Alvis’ body stood up, as he felt a surge of energy on the far end of the battlefield. His eyes immediately fell on the source.
Max shooting a beam.
“Earth Wall!” Alvis shouted, stretching out his hand and guiding his mana.
The beam shot tore through the air, racing at a demon with unbelievable speed. At the same time, Alvis’ earth wall manifested, erupting as the sole guardian of the demon’s life. They clashed, and the earth wall exploded into hundreds of small splinters. But it hadn’t fulfilled its duty. The beam shot still raced through the air.
It wasn’t fully manifested yet! Alvis cursed.
The energy beam hit the demon right on his forehead.
No, no, no, no.
The demon’s wide eyes froze as if someone had taken a picture of him, but his legs lost their strength and he fell face forward to the ground. His head cracked on impact, making his blood expand only faster on the ground.
Alvis clenched his chest, his heart threatening to break, but he just shook his head and ran to the boy. Please be alive! He knelt next to him, one hand against his forehead to somehow stop the bleeding, while his other hand checked his heartbeat. However, the demon’s blood turned Alvis’ hand red within seconds, and his pulse became weaker and weaker.
No, no, please!
“STOP, NOW!”
Mr. Woltzer’s voice resounded throughout the battlefield. Just hearing him triggered Alvis’ memories of his betrayal, yet he couldn’t care less right now.
“I need a healer!” Alvis shouted.
A batch of healers rushed to Alvis’ side, but the demon’s pulse was so low Alvis couldn’t feel it anymore.
“Hang in there! Please don’t die, please!”
The healers cast their healing magic, hues of green and golden light dancing on the demon’s forehead. The hole in it slowly closed as his flesh merged together, enchanted by the healing. Within a few seconds, the hole was gone, yet as Alvis’ gaze wandered to the healers, he noticed their grim expressions. He shook his head, unable to accept this reality, yet his hand had long felt it. His heart wasn’t beating anymore.
The demon died.
“Nooo!” Alvis screamed, slamming his fist on the ground.
He was too late. Because of him, this student died.

Alvis stared at Max. However, in the next second, he was just gone. Everyone who saw this immediately understood what just happened. The burning battlefield suddenly turned silent.
…
“You killed him!” a demon shouted.
His hand started burning, ignited by fire magic. The demon pinched his fire-coated fingers into the eyes of a human who stood next to him. The human screamed as his eyes melted in his skull, white liquid mixed with blood running down his face. His eyes burned away, leaving a hollow vacancy. The demon held the human’s head like a bowling ball and smashed his head against the ground. Again and again. Blood splashed on the ground until even brain matter could be seen. Still, he didn’t stop. He gathered his mana in his hands for one final smash and, upon impact with the ground, the boy’s head exploded.
The next student died.
“RAHHHHHH!”
Countless battle cries rang through the air as the students started killing each other like wild animals. One student tore another student’s belly open, pulling out his guts to choke another student to death. Another bit a student in the neck like a vampire, just to end up getting stabbed in the back. Beam shots flew around, taking lives left and right, whilst spells just as dangerous did the same.
Alvis just stood there, his body unable to move as he witnessed this catastrophe. Never before had he seen such animalistic killing, not even Gilsymbato’s rampage or Voyzez’s insane soldiers coming near to this gruesomeness. And to think that these were his schoolmates doing this…
Even Alvis’ vomit was to afraid to come out.
The teachers and the few students who still had any sense left couldn’t move either. Their shock had frozen them.
Still, somehow their bodies moved instinctively. Yet instead of doing something, they all stared at one person. Everyone’s eyes landed on the sole person who could save this situation. Their Principal and beacon of hope.
“Mr. Woltzer…” A teacher said, her voice cracking.
“Mr. Woltzer…”
Another one spoke.
“Mr. Woltzer…”
Another one.
“Mr. Woltzer…”
Then another one.
“Mr. Woltzer…”
Then another one!
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer…”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer…”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
“Mr. Woltzer...”
Their voices overlapped, bled together, rising into some sort of prayer. It echoed throughout the battlefield just as loud as all the battle cries, yet somehow their voices were even more haunting.
However, Mr. Woltzer just stood there, looking at the carnage ahead of him. Looking at his students killing each other. His eyes grew colder with every kill, with every time he heard his name; their expectations. They tore at his sanity, like wolves fighting over prey. Until there was nothing left of him anymore.
He didn’t answer right away. The battlefield was screaming, begging, dying, yet he stood still.
Then…
“I tried to believe in you… but I guess all my efforts amounted to nothing.”
Alvis shook his head, knowing that the words that were about to come out next would change everything.
“Don’t do it…” Alvis pleaded.
But it was already too late.
“I don’t care anymore.” Mr. Woltzer’s voice came out indifferent, void of any emotion. “Do as you wish. Go on and kill each other.”
Alvis’ heart shattered as reality turned more and more into his worst nightmare.
No, no, no!
The teachers couldn’t believe what they had just heard and only stared at each other, dumbfounded. Yet as Mr. Woltzer turned his back to the battlefield and decided to go away, they realized that this wasn’t a joke.
“What are you doing?!” a young human teacher said. He grabbed Mr. Woltzer’s shoulder and forced him to stop. “How could you say something like that? We have to do something!”
Mr. Woltzer turned around, his eyes still as cold as marbles, yet every instinct in Alvis’ body warned him about what was about to happen.
“Run away!”
But it was too late.
Mr. Woltzer’s claws pierced through the teacher’s chest. His hand feasted on the teacher’s blood, and he died on the spot.
Alvis couldn’t breathe.
“I already told you that I don’t care anymore.”
The teachers stared at Mr. Woltzer, unable to process what had just happened. However, as some of them started shaking in fear, others snapped.
“Mr. Woltzer!” they shouted as they attacked their boss.
However, Mr. Woltzer killed everyone who dared to approach him. The corpses next to him piled, his face covered in blood that wasn’t his. He raised his claws once more, but this time, to parry an ice sword. His cold eyes bore into the wielder, yet the wielder just stared back in fury.
“Mr. Woltzer! Why?!” Alvis shouted as his ice sword clashed with the claws of the man who once stood for everything he believed in. Yet met with Alvis’ boiled-up emotions, Mr. Woltzer remained indifferent.
“I know that you’re part of the Devil Cult, but why did you go so far?”
For the first time, Mr. Woltzer’s expression changed. His eyebrows rose.
“So you’ve already come this far…” He stared at Alvis like he was seeing him for the first time. “Good. Maybe you’re ready now.”
A glint of hope sparkled in his eyes and his voice became sharper.
“Elric. Separate us.”
Alvis couldn’t even blink as his environment changed.
