Episode 73: Driving Lessons! Dustin’s Big Challenge!!

[Scene 1 – The Decision to Drive]

The brawlers are traveling down the winding path of Path 6 after their recent adventure. As they walk through the bustling streets, Dustin starts to feel the strain of their long travels.

  Dustin (grumbling):

“I’m tired of walking everywhere. I’m getting too old for this footwork. It’s time to upgrade my travel game.”

  Kouchu (laughing):

“Are you serious, Dustin? You’ve been walking your whole life and now you want to drive?”

  Sakuro (raising an eyebrow):

“I don’t see why not. We’ve had our fair share of running, but we can’t forget, driving’s not as easy as it looks.”

  Shauna (smiling):

“Hey, don’t knock it until you try it. If Dustin’s serious, maybe it’s time to get him behind the wheel.”

Dustin’s eyes brighten up, and he suddenly has a determined look on his face.

  Dustin (excited):

“Alright! I’m going for it! I’m signing up for the driving test!”

The group continues their walk, and soon they reach the Pair One Square (気州スクエア Ki-shū sukuea), a bustling square where the local driving exams are held. Dustin immediately rushes to sign up for the test, eager to prove himself.

[Scene 2 – The Test Begins]

Dustin steps into the test vehicle, but he’s starting to feel the pressure. As the driving examiner gives him a stern look and tells him to begin, Dustin starts to panic.

  Dustin (nervously, to himself):

“Okay, okay, I can do this. No problem. Just drive, Dustin, just drive.”

But as soon as Dustin begins, he starts messing up. He hits the accelerator too hard, jerks the wheel, and nearly knocks over a traffic cone.

  Driving Examiner (sternly):

“Calm down, son. Take it slow.”

  Dustin (sweating, shaking his head):

“I can’t do this! I’m gonna mess up!”

After a series of failed maneuvers, Dustin finally pulls the car over and sighs in defeat.

  Dustin (groaning):

“I’m not cut out for this! I’m gonna fail for sure!”

Kouchu, Shauna, and the others watch from the sidelines, unsure of what to do. Kouchu steps forward, noticing Dustin’s panic.

  Kouchu (grinning):

“Hey, Dustin! You don’t have to do this alone. I’ll help you out!”

  Dustin (desperate):

“I can’t do it, Kouchu. I’m just going to embarrass myself.”

  Kouchu (smiling confidently):

“You can’t give up! You’ve come this far. If you need help, I’m here for you!”

[Scene 3 – Seeking Help from Anika Genga]

Realizing that Dustin needs some professional help, Shauna decides to take action. She calls her oldest sister, Anika Genga, who is an expert mechanic and knows everything about cars.

  Shauna (on the phone):

“Anika, Dustin’s trying to pass the driving test, but he’s freaking out! Could you help him out? You’re the best when it comes to cars!”

Anika agrees to come to the square to give Dustin a crash course. Meanwhile, Kouchu tries to help Dustin practice, despite not knowing much about driving himself.

  Kouchu (confidently, though clueless):

“Okay, Dustin! Just keep your hands on the wheel, stay calm, and—uhh, don’t crash into anything!”

Dustin nervously nods, trying to focus, but it’s clear he’s still anxious about the test.

  [Scene 4 – Anika’s Driving Lesson]

Anika arrives at the square and immediately takes charge. With her expertise, she teaches Dustin the basics of driving—how to properly grip the wheel, when to brake, how to turn smoothly, and how to handle the car in tricky situations. Dustin listens intently, though he’s still nervous.

  Anika (teaching calmly):

“Alright, Dustin, take a deep breath. Driving’s all about control. You need to trust yourself and your ability.”

  Dustin (still tense):

“I don’t know if I can do this.”

  Anika (encouraging):

“You can. Focus on the road, not your nerves. Let’s go slow and steady.”

With Anika’s guidance, Dustin starts to gain more confidence behind the wheel. He begins to feel the rhythm of driving and gets a better sense of control over the car. The brawlers cheer him on as he drives through a small course, executing the basic moves with more ease.

  [Scene 5 – The Crash]

As Dustin takes another lap around the test course, he begins to feel the pressure of the upcoming test. Anika’s instructions echo in his mind, but as he turns a corner, he accidentally overcompensates on the wheel and slams into a nearby wall.

  Dustin (eyes wide):

  “Uh-oh, no no no!”

The car jolts and comes to a stop. Everyone rushes over, and the driving examiner looks less than pleased. Dustin gets out of the car, embarrassed and deflated.

  Dustin (sighing):

“I knew it. I messed up again. I’ll never pass.”

Anika walks up to him, shaking her head with a smile.

Anika (patting Dustin on the back):

“It’s alright, Dustin. You’re not the first person to fail a driving test. You’ve got the skills, but you need more practice. Don’t give up just yet.”

  Kouchu (grinning):

“Yeah! You were doing so well before the crash! You’ll get it next time, Dustin!”

  Shauna (cheerfully):

“Exactly! We’ll help you practice. You’ll be driving in no time!”

Dustin smiles, grateful for his friends’ support, despite his failure. He looks back at the car and shrugs.

  Dustin (laughing nervously):

“Well… looks like I need to reschedule my test. At least I know I’ve got the best team behind me.”

[Scene 6 – The Lesson Learned]

As the episode comes to a close, Dustin sits down with Kouchu and the others, laughing about his mishap.

  Dustin (chuckling):

“I guess this just wasn’t my day. But hey, I’m not giving up. I’ll keep trying until I pass this test!”

  Kouchu (grinning):

“That’s the spirit, Dustin! You’ll get there.”

The group continues to support Dustin, laughing and joking together as they head off to their next destination. Though Dustin didn’t pass his driving exam, he knows he has a team that will always have his back.
