Reece tried not to watch as Maddison got undressed. He knew she was nervous and embarrassed, and he didn't want to add to her anxiety. Kalie was appropriately avoiding Maddison, and she had her eyes locked on the hill just on the other side of the trees. The sounds of already shifted werewolves could be heard there, and she looked nervous to meet them. Understandable given her situation.
Kalie held his eye for only a moment. As soon as Maddison's shirt came off he was hit with her warm scent. His eyes snapped back to her. She stood, red cheeked and pale skinned, beneath leafless trees, her green bra just barely holding her ample breasts. Usually he went for taller and thinner females when the need arises, but seeing Maddison- almost the complete opposite of that- awoke a primal need in him.
Terrified his more then obvious arousal would send her running, Reece walked toward the hill and watched his brother and sister wolves as they sat in a semicircle. At the center of the arch stood Ryan, naked and solid, the only one in human shape. The Alpha of the pack. In all honesty Reece could have wrested the the pack from him when he first arrived, but he had no urge to run a pack. So long as nobody stood on his toes, Reece was fine being third.
Noticing his brother, Ryan turned a quizzical look toward Reece. Reece nodded and Ryan returned to his quiet vigil. A ripple went through the wolves. Their Alpha had sent word through the pack bond: The ceremony was about to start.
Reece returned to Kalie and Maddison, who now stood naked and shivering.
"lets do this." He said crouching slightly and beginning his shift. Kalie did the same.
???
Maddison watched, fascinated, as Reece and Kalie shifted. The whole process took only a few seconds. Their skin rippled and shifted as fur sprouted up at he same time the their shapes began to twist and rearrange. One second they were two naked people, and the next they were a huge black wolf and a smaller grey one with soft white paws.
Kalie padded over to Maddison and pressed against her. She could feel her tremble. Maddison laced her fingers through Kalie's thick fur and griped her scruff, trying to offer comfort even as she took some for herself.
Reece, in all his powerful black wolf glory, nodded his lupine head and lead them out from behind the trees.
As nervous and embarrassed as she was, an innate instinct within her refused to show weakness to the two dozen wolves arranged in a semi-circle in the clearing. She was Alpha and would not allow them to believe otherwise.
Reece sped off to sit to the left of the very naked Ryan, who stood front and center. He acknowledged the return of his third, then trained his green eyes on Maddison and Kalie. It was remarkable how similar he was to Reece, but he held none of the pull over her emotions that his brother did.
"Pack!" Ryan said stoically. "We are met!"
There was an immediate reply of yips and barks in response. Maddison actually felt a charge in the air. There was magic here: pack magic. Maddison could feel the excitement of her wolf and it fed into her own. Despite the eyes on her, she was barely conscious of being naked. Still, she was glad of the steady warmth of Kalie seated next to her. The small wolf still trembled and so Maddison held her scruff tighter trying to pour a little of her strength into her.
To Maddison's surprise, she actually felt a power shiver through her veins and flow into Kalie. The grey wolf stilled, then stood straighter.
When Maddison turned back to the pack she saw Ryan looking at her almost hungerly. It set her hackles up. Not our mate. She couldn't help but glare at the older man. He smiled and the heat died in his eyes.
"My apologies." He said. "You probably didn't know what you were doing. You were channeling pack magic into your friend. A hard thing to do when you are not in a pack. It excited my wolf to see an Alpha female. I'm afraid you may get a lot of stares at first."
Maddison only nodded and refused to lower herself. She was not anybody's submissive. The only concession to Ryan's leadership she made was to not stare him directly in the eye. She saw the surrounding wolves stir and the aura grew charged again.
"Let us begin: Pack! We meet Maddison Nixon on her day of naming. New wolf, and Alpha." There was a peel of barks and short howls that brought a small smile to her lips. She caught Reece's wolf-eye and he seemed to smile as well. "And we meet Kalie Grace. Turned wolf, submissive, and I must inform you- lesbian."
Immediately there was a tumult of growls and angry yips. Only a few wolves remained silent. Kalie began to shake again at Maddison's side. What a bunch of bigots, no matter what 'instinct' Reece might call it.
Unable to tolerate the negative vibes, Maddison growled at the surrounding pack, staring them all down till all but a handful of males backed away. The hill had grown silent. Maddison stood up straighter, not hiding anything from view. They would accept Kalie, or they would not be getting her.
It seemed as if the message was received because Ryan plied her with a huge smile, one of warmth and respect this time. He inclined his head slightly.
"Alpha." He said as if acknowledging something. Every wolf stood still. Then, as a pack laid down on their bellies. Even Reece lowered himself. Maddison felt as if there was some sort of a power shift taking place.
Then, as if out of nowhere, a shiver ran the course of her body. Every inch of skin tingled and she visibly shivered. Next to her Kalie whined and touched her cold nose to Maddison's leg.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
"Today a new wolf takes shape beneath the moon. Let us welcome out newest wolf sister." Intoned Ryan, gesturing to Maddison as well as the pack.
The sense of magic caused Maddison to gasp and, at the same moment, every wolf in the pack began to howl. At the same time Ryan crouched and began to shift, grey fur coating his changing form, Maddison collapsed to the ground.
Whatever was happening didn't hurt, but it was disorienting. Her skin prickled and her vision grew sharper, an awareness overrode everything. She took one last, startled, gasp and the next thing she knew she was on all fours and trembling.
The sun was barely a faint glow on the other side of the hill.
An excited yip sounded next to her and she spun her head, finding herself nose to nose with a grey wolf. Startled ,Maddison leapt up straight, stiffened her ears, pulled back her lips and growled. This was no sound made by a human's vocal cords. She was wolf.
The grey wolf dropped to her belly, turned her head exposing her throat, and tucked her tail between her legs.
Carefully, Maddison approached. Curious, she stuck her nose into the females ruff and then yipped happily. Of course! This was Kalie! She lunged forward and nipped the smaller wolfs ear and leapt about her excitedly.
Kalie lifted her head and wagged her tail. They were Met! She knew Kalie. Kalie was her wolf.
A large grey approached, and immediately she felt her fur stand on end. A strange wolf... this wolf did not lower himself. He stood proud, almost regal with his stiff ears, tail out straight and legs locked. His pale green eyes burrowed into her own.
She contemplated what to do for a moment. It was clear what she was meant to do. She was supposed to submit. This male was Alpha and she was without a pack. She really did not want to submit... but then she would be doomed to be without a pack, and that was just unacceptable.
So she decided on a compromise. She settled herself on her belly but did not tuck her tail nor did she lower her head. She did advert her eyes though, no need to antagonize him as well.
The grey wolf contemplated her a while longer then steped up to her. He began to scent her. Brushing his nose along her fur and face. She felt a kind of amuzement roll off the male, playful and teasing. His nose suddenly dove into the fur at her hind quarters.
She was about to turn on the male and bite him, when an angry growl rose out of the circle of still prone wolves, and a large black male charged!
Kalie yiped and dashed out of the way as the large black male pounced on the grey. Both males went tumbling into the grass, and Maddison launched to her feet.
As if that was their que the other wolves rushed forward and began to check out the two new wolves. Some dined to watch their Alpha and third tussle in the grass.
Many noses came around to scent her and Kalie too. The tiny pale grey wolf stuck close to Maddison, and she was glad. She did not yet trust these wolves not to attack her unprovoked.
Maddison was confronted with many scents, and even though most were similar, each was unique. She would forget none of them.
A black blur came hurtling at her from the bushes and pinned her to the ground, his jaws lightly closed on her ruff and his much greater weight pressed down on her back. She growled and tried snapping at the male, but he had her good.
The Alpha sauntered out of the same bush, looking no worse for wear and walking with all the elegance of a man who had not just been tackled by a wolf the size of a black bear.
Said black bear was beginning to annoy, so instead of trying to throw him or catch his throat, she instead went for one of his paws carelessly placed near her muzzle. She bit into his padding and the male yelped, jumping away.
Maddison stood and shook out her fur. Not bothering to pay any mind to the black furred male, she instead stretched out her body, getting a feal for each limb and muscle. Satisfied, she stood and shook out her coat once more and turned her head to examine herself. She was not a big wolf, but still larger than Kalie. Her fur was thick and glossy, and the color of milk. So she was a white wolf.
The black wolf reappeared and she decided he was worth a second glance, despite his antics. As her mismatched eyes landed on him, his tail wagged happily and he gave her a goofy tongue-out smile. Reece was such an idiot.
Still, it was Reece, and so she decided she should acknowledge him. She padded up to him and sniffed his neck. She liked his scent and new he was hers too, even if she was not completely sure she was comfortable with that fact.
Reece bumped his head to hers before diving on Kalie. The little wolfed yelp but he was not hurting her. Maddison shook her head. He was more of a nuisance as a wolf then he was as a man!
Over the next several minutes all the wolves approached to greet her. She found the males, for the most part, to be overly friendly. Clearly this pack did not have enough mated pairs. On the other hand, the females ranged from undecided to plain cold.
There was a howl and all heads turned to the Alpha, Ryan, who had called. The pack got in a loose line and then they were running with Maddison loping right along with them.
At first she hung back with Kalie as they made there way through trees, over stumps and fallen logs. Soon, however, she was pushing her way up through the ranks. She flew past the submissives, and then got shoved a bit by the dominant females. Anyone who got too rough got a good, hard, bite.
She did not stop at the females either. She began to speed up the ranks of males as well. She loved the feel of earth beneath her paws and the wind streaking through her fur. The crisp air and the moon over head excited her beyond belief. She got as far as the sixth make before she finally stopped. He was a big, charcoal male, with a scar down his shoulder and big black eyes.
She knew immediately that this was a male she could not best. So she ranked seventh then. The former seventh nipped at her heels, determined to send her back with the females. She turned and snarled at him, biting into his shoulder. The tan colored male yelped and begrudgingly settled back into the eighth spot. If he was lucky no one else would challenge him, hoping to gain back their own spot.
Feeling alive as the pack crested a hill and began to turn back the way they had come, Maddison sang out to the moon.
The run back was just as exhilarating and fun, but without the undue dominance battles. Once they reached the hill the pack came to a stop and spread out.
Maddison lay, panting, on the grass. She turned her head up to the sky and watched the stars. Kalie came and settled next to her, her grey muzzle rested on Maddison's big white paws.
The stars were beautiful, and the moon was just beginning to wane, big and bright in the dark night sky. Her breath went up like little clouds, and a sense of complete peace and belonging settled over her.
Luna. I am Luna.
Her heart swelled with emotion. Yes, that was her wolves name. No, it was their name.
We are Luna.

Alright, this is technically the end of book 1, and where I stop for now. I am still not sure if I will have book two up yet because it isn't finished and I'm not sure I have it in me to go back to writing werewolf romance right now lol. There are four or five chapters already written of book two however, and I might add them here at some point :p
