Chapter 9

  Cordelia

It's been one week since I've arrived at the academy... And the dreadful csses are about to begin...

Let me have my moment Cordelia.

Anyways— before the csses start, all the first years gathered in the umm... I honestly don't know what it's called except it looks like a colloseum.

The Principal, Marquis Oliver Elias Aether, was having a speech using some sort of magic that amplifies one's voice.

Basically the content of his speech was just 'Be good and hopefully you all contribute to the Kingdom.' Yet somehow he managed to stretch that into an hour-long speech... I'm not even joking.

After his speech I thought it was over. But it turns out someone else was gonna have a speech as well... And huh, would you look at that, Lady Zariah and Lord Artel are on the stage as well.

"Greetings first years. I am Kaelen Ferlude Crowyn, the President of the Student Council Society. I know you're all bored and want to go to your csses now, but sadly lessons won't start until tomorrow. Today is simply an introduction of what you all will expect as well as an introduction to the faculty, staff, and council members."

Ugh... Tomorrow is when csses start? No wonder Freya refused to tell us what this was about!

"We will start with the introductions for the Student Council. As I've said, I am the president. The Blonde behind me is your Vice-president, Zariah Vachya Xalelio. Beside her is the secretary, Artel Wayne Lindford. And beside him is the treasurer Markus Ryan Velreyes."

"There are more members like the Representatives per year level, and the disciplinary members, however us four are the core members of the Council. Those wearing a red sash alongside their uniforms are council members so do give them appropriate amount of respect."

"Later on we will be choosing a representative for you first years, as well as selecting some of you as disciplinary officers."

Well... You're spot on. I'm pretty sure that's where Ophelia meets Viktor.

The president went on to spout things I didn't really bother listening to... they also introduced the professors via magic since apparently the second, third, and fourth years have csses while were getting bored out of our minds here.

After the introduction we were free to roam around... Not like we weren't at first... However before I had a chance to bail and return to the dorm, a certain blonde figure stopped me.

"Hey Cordelia," Zariah grinned, walking over towards me.

There it is again... What happened to the 'Lady'?

"Hello Lady Zariah... Do you need something?" I ask, staring at her.

"Oh. The President wanted to talk with you... Alongside the Prince and the other children of the ducal houses."

I already knew you were right Cordelia. Shut up.

"What for?" I ask, following her out of the colloseum, I think I'm gonna call it that.

"For the Council. It's practically given that you guys are going to be part of the council, though a few others will still be chosen as a member of the disciplinary committee." She expins, walking towards one of the buildings... I'm pretty sure this building is dedicated to school affairs and stuff like that.

The first floor only had one room though... It's kind of weird... She opens the door to that room and we were greeted by... No one?

"Oh. Looks like we came first. We can wait for the others then." She said, sitting down. She patted the chair beside her. "Come on, sit here."

I roll my eyes and sat down, waiting for whoever we needed to wait for.

A few minutes ter, the President arrived with a blonde male. Then a brown haired man arrived with Cedric and Ophelia, followed by Artel and Evander.

  Huh... That's... Weird... Oh. Fuck.

Huh. Just remembered Ophelia was supposed to be accompanied by Zariah... And me and Evander was supposed to arrive together...

I think that's pretty obvious Cordelia. It can't be that fireball incident since Ophelia was supposed to be the one who faced that... So it should be somewhere earlier... Was it the garden that shifted everything? Huh... Probably.

"Looks like everyone is here." Lady Kaelen smiled. "I'm gonna keep this brief, one of you will be appointed as the first years representative... Were gonna hold a vote for that. Does anyone volunteer or has any recommendations?"

Immediately, the blonde boy raised his hand and said he'll volunteer for the position... He kinda looks like Zariah.

Why didn't you say so earlier?

I knew that! That was one of the reasons Zariah had supporters when she waged war with the prince for the throne... Half the nobles believed she deserved it instead of the incompetent prince.

  "Alright... Prince Viktor..."

  "Please just call me Viktor"

  "Okay Viktor, anyone else?"

No one raised their hands... A few seconds ter Zariah raised hers.

  "I recommend Cordelia Athenais Sylvaris—"

What the fuck?! I immediately kick her under the table and gave her a death gre.

Nope nope nope nope... Why did she suddenly do this? She didn't do this for Ophelia! So why?!

"Okay... Viktor and Cordelia... Is that all?"

This time, no one raised their hands.

"Why did you do that?!" I whispered angirly at Zariah.

"Don't worry about it Cordelia~" she grinned, then shot Viktor a smirk who simply gred at me... Oh lord... Cordelia help me.

  Honestly, I don't know.

"Okay then. Everyone raise your right hand for Viktor, and Left hand for Cordelia."

Okay that's confusing but okay. I raised my right hand since I didn't really care.

Counting the hands, only three raised their right hands for Viktor including me... The rest were raising their left hand...

Okay. Zariah and Artel I understand... But Ophelia, Evander, and Cedric?!?! I'm guessing Ophelia's no longer mad at the fact Cordelia bullied her... And so is Cedric... But Evander? Maybe he felt bad at the banquet?

Still! Why did you vote for me?! I demand a rematch! This is unfair rather, the vote should have been by every first year, why only us?! This is rigged!

"Okay then~ Lady Cordelia you will be the First year representative! I'll give you all your sashes tomorrow... Oh and since you were the one that recommended her Zariah, you teach her the ropes."

"Okay President~" Zariah smiled very widely... Which seems to have shocked the President and Treasurer... Even Artel?! She probably looks like the devil lol— okay nevermind she looked at me and she looks kind of cute...

"Sorry about that Cordelia~ didn't really want my cousin to have that position, hope you'll understand."

Okay but why me... You didn't even do that in the novel for Ophelia!

Nothing! Just talked to her, that's all...

We all stood up and Viktor walked over to be, holding out his hand for a handshake.

"Congratutions I suppose." He muttered. It feels wrong to refuse the Prince so I shook his hand... He looks kind of pissed... This is all your fault Cordelia.

"Thanks your majesty..." I say... Huh... My head kind of hurts.

As we let go of each others hand, Zariah took my hand and dragged me out of there.

"Lady Zariah what are you doing?" I ask, taking my hand back from her.

"How's your head?" Huh? Why is she asking me that? "Does it hurt?"

"Yes, wh—" As soon as I said yes she dragged me again and sat me down on a bench.

"My cousin doesn't like losing what he deems is his. I saw him cast some sort of spell... I don't know what it is but I know it's harmful."

"But I'm fine." Albeit a little headache.

"Hmm... Well it doesn't seem like poison or a curse." She muttered and stood up, which I quickly followed.

"Like I said, I'm fine—" suddenly, my vision darkened.
