Alli

The room she was in was luxurious and huge. Gold detailing plastered the walls along with vivid paintings in every wall. The furniture she could see was also the most fancy things she had ever seen, which was saying something considering how much time she wasted observing old white rich men doing stupid shit the last few centuries. She sat up in a bed, surprised. She was supposed to be an infant, wasn't she? Based on the length of her limbs she was around three or four years old. She was supposed to enter her body when she was born...

"I must have hesitated too much! This body could have been severely damaged, what was I thinking?"

There was tubing connected to her body with medical instruments all around her. "It must have been in a comatose state until I arrived... Dang it." She pushed herself off the bed and promptly collapsed on the wood flooring. Being an incorporeal being for thousands of years doesn't exactly give you any experience with walking, that combined with the fact the body hadn't devolved any muscle for the few years it had been in existence, it wasn't at all surprising that she collapsed.

The IVs in her arms yanked on the machinery and they toppled over with a crash. A loud beeping started and a ruckus was heard outside the door. She heard several voices along with footsteps running in the hallway. The voices were muffled but Allison could hear people shouting about a doctor along with a "The Duke". Suddenly the door to the room opened and a young woman in a maid's uniform let out a high pitched scream. Apparently the sight of Allison spread on the floor was a rare one.

"She's awake!" The maid screamed out to the others.

Suddenly a whole group of people rushed in.

  "Oh my Sol. She awake!"

  "I can't believe it!"

  "Someone call the duke!"

  "Duke Vissier's daughter has awakened!"

People helped her sit upright on the bed and fussed over her every movement.

It was all, "do you know us, do you feel alright, can you understand us." It was so crowded, Allison understood the meaning of social burnout for the first time. This continued until a man burst in the room with worry worn on his face.

"Alli!" the man cried out. "You're awake!"

Allison knew who this man was due to the small amount of history she learned before. This was Duke Vissier. According to the history books' knowledge, he was an incompetent, romantic, fool. That's what the public saw, anyway. In reality he was quite a responsible figure but attributed his success to luck in order to not attract attention. The things you learn you become both omnipotent and omniscient. One thing that was true no matter where you looked, was his love for his family. He used to have a loving wife and two sons, but they passed away from a plague a few years ago, only leaving behind his daughter who had been in a coma since she was born. He was very unfortunate and Allison made his misfortune worse by being late to the party.

"I can't believe it, it's been three years! Do you know who I am? I came to visit you everyday! Do you remember?"

Allison just nodded her head, overstimulated.

"I'm your father! Oh, this is a miracle! Praise to Sol!" The duke said in excitement.

"Excuse me, my grace, but you may want to leave the child alone. She couldn't move for 3 years, only being able to listen to voices. This may be overwhelming for her." A man that entered silently said.

"Ah, yes you're right, Doctor. I'm sorry, Alli, I didn't mean to scare you." The duke said to his daughter. "Would you like some food?"

Allison's eye's glistened at the thought. She had never had the experience of food before, and now her body needed it to survive! It was exciting to her. She nodded in response to his question.

"Get some food in here!" He shouted to the crowd of people behind him.

"Right away, your grace." One scampered away.

"You have no idea how happy I am to finally see you up and about, my dear." An aid popped in and beckoned for the duke to follow him. "I need to go now, I ran away from a pretty important meeting and should probably go and explain my reason for leaving so suddenly, eat well and get some rest." He said with a smile on his face.

Everyone suddenly left the room except for exactly four maids. One was the girl who first found Allison on the floor, and the rest were unknown to her.

"Hello, my lady. We're your personal maids, we have taken care of you for the last three years. If you need anything please pull the rope to the side of your bed. We will come to bring your food shortly."
