After observing the opposing team's lineup, there was nothing particurly special—especially Bruno. He stood out only because some of his attributes had developed close to their maximum. However, beyond reason, when he gnced at Gillingham's bench, one pyer caught him completely off guard.
[Commentator 1]:"Welcome to the second preseason match where Gillingham will host Bradford—both League Two teams are in outstanding form!" the commentator excimed loudly.
[Commentator 2]:"Gillingham is fielding an aggressive 3-5-2 formation. In defense, we have Marcus Doyle, Jovan Kruk, and Ellis Hadley—three hard-tackling, fast defenders. In midfield, they’ve deployed Alfie Denton, Kyler Greaves, and their elegant pymaker, Nils M?rk. The right wing is manned by Lennart Weiss, while the dangerous Coby Hartnell dominates the left fnk. Up front, they’ve lined up a striking duo: Ethen Vallois and, of course, their expensive new signing, Bruno Vera from Brazil. This 23-year-old rising star has been a terror in recent matches."
[Commentator 1]:"Meanwhile, Bradford is sticking to their tactical approach with a 5-3-1-1 formation. Under the crossbar stands Mark, who was solid in their st match. The backline is guarded by Lucas Lecir on the left, Thomas Rhield, Tom Shield, and their captain, Conrad, in the center, with Mike Aliston on the right. Anchoring the midfield is Ismael as the calm yet aggressive DMF. Ahead of him, Alexander Kamara and Harry Shalked take up the CMF roles. Lucien Ito operates as the AMF, and up front alone is their young striker, Matias Alvez."
[Commentator 2]:"Without further dey, let’s kick off this intense match!"
The whistle blows, and the game begins.
[Minutes 1-11]:From the very first whistle, Gillingham relentlessly attacks from the wings.
[Commentator 1]:"Gillingham’s wing py today is absolutely brutal! Weiss and Hartnell are tireless!" the commentator shouts, tension thick in his voice.
Bradford is forced to defend deep in their own half. Several dangerous crosses fly into the penalty box, and Bradford’s backline fights desperately. But the pressure is unrelenting. In the 11th minute, disaster strikes.
A quick combination between Kyler and Hartnell on the left fnk tears through Bradford’s defense after they dispossess Harry Shalked. Hartnell delivers a low cross, and Bruno Vera slots it home. Priestfield erupts in celebration.
[Commentator 2]:"GOOOOAL, GILLINGHAM! There he is—Bruno Vera! The young Brazilian striker strikes again! This kid is an absolute monster!"
The other commentator chimes in, sarcastically, "Maybe Bradford’s big win st time was just because they faced a League Three side. Today, they’re up against a real League Two team. Gillingham looks superior in every aspect."
On Bradford’s bench, Malcolm and McNeil stand up, suggesting a formation change. But Reinhart remains seated, his sharp eyes fixed on the pitch.
[Commentator 1]:"Reinhart doesn’t seem interested in changing anything. Stubborn as usual."
[Commentator 2]:"Stubborn? Or maybe he just doesn’t have another tactic up his sleeve."
A mocking tone lingers in the air.
But Reinhart knows something no one else does.
Throughout the match, Harry Shalked has been making mistakes—his usual strength, his speed, is being neutralized by Gillingham’s veteran midfielders.
Harry has already apologized multiple times to Conrad and his teammates for his errors. Each time, Conrad reassures him. Slowly, Harry’s confident expression fades into despair as he struggles to fulfill his role.
Meanwhile, Lucien, who has been quietly analyzing the game, finally spots an opening.
[Minute 30]:Gillingham unches another attack through the middle. Kyler Greaves fires a powerful shot from outside the box, which deflects off Thomas Rhield’s leg. The ball bounces wildly forward, uncontrolled.
At that moment, Lucien—who had already anticipated the gap—sprints forward, intercepting the loose ball and charging straight ahead.
Gillingham’s defense is in shambles—nearly all their pyers were caught upfield, leaving only three center-backs to react. Two of them try to close Lucien down.
"You’re not getting through, kid!"
But Lucien calmly stops the ball briefly—then BOOM!
[Commentator 2]:"Lucien Ito breaks free! He’s one-on-one! He holds the ball—then... there it is! The Speeding Bullet move! A sudden sprint to the left!"
Now, only two pyers remain in his path—the keeper and one defender. The two center-backs he just passed are catching up fast. As they close in, trying to cut off the central ne, Lucien delivers a razor-sharp Trivel Pass—a curling ball that nds perfectly on the right fnk, five meters outside the box.
And there, Harry Shalked appears.
But the ball is far—about 25 meters away. Gillingham’s keeper, Daryl Vokes, reads the py and rushes out. The ball is just ten meters from him—he’s sure he can clear it before Harry reaches it.
The defenders scream. Gillingham’s bench jumps to their feet. But in Harry’s mind, the world goes silent.
(“Come on... just a little more... I want to be useful!”)
Harry, who has failed time and again today—even Gillingham’s first goal came from his mistake—starts to believe he’s just a filler pyer, called up to fill squad numbers. As despair creeps in and his steps grow heavier, a fragment of memory fshes before him.

After the preseason match, I’ll be making some adjustments to my writing style. Moving forward, I’ll write with more detail to better convey the message I want to deliver. Thank you for reading my first work.
