Chapter 6: The Art of Baiting Idiots 101

Chapter 6: The Art of Baiting Idiots 101Two days ter, the time finally came. Already having set up a detection spell, something like:

  {Every time a new person enters the inn, I get notified.}

This is a typical detection spell. Now, this is just the elementary spell. If you want to make it more advanced, you should specify, how this new person is determined and how you want to get notified. Something like:

  {Every time a heat source simir to mine enters the inn, I want to get the notification: "A new person has entered the inn."}

This would be more advanced. Even more advanced would it be, if you specify more than one way of detection.

But it is important to remember, that the more the rule you write goes against the rules of the world, the more your Mana cost will increase. For such a permanent Spell, it would not make sense to use more than the really needed parts, as it is a permanent Mana drain.

Thinking about that, I moved down the stairs, where a guy was already throwing a tantrum.

"How dare you book away my room! You really made me lose face in front of my friends! You're gonna pay for that!"

I was already notified by the detection spell, that there was a group of five people coming this time. Furthermore, I noticed that the best room was seemingly made for multiple people.

I wondered before, why the city lord's son even came to this inn, but that expined it. It seemed like he wanted to make connections and therefore invited multiple people from different influential families to the inn.

He didn't invite them to the city lord's mansion, because they might have felt threatened there. Furthermore, it might have also been to make the meeting more informal.

As I pondered that, I had already reached the bottom and came into view of those five.

"Hey! Are you that bug that rented MY room?!"

A loud shout. Yeah. That was definitely the guy. Fancy clothing full of gold, which I could see at a gnce was just golden colour, a fancy head ornament, which made him look ridiculous and a sneer on his face, that made any handsomeness he might have had vanish like smoke.

Not to forget that arrogant attitude that believed everything in this world was his and his ignorance that topped even that.

"I believe, the room was the inn's property, or am I wrong?"

"You fucker that doesn't know the immensity of heaven and earth! Courting death!"

"I'm sorry, but I'm trying to have a normal conversation here. That is proving extraordinarily difficult because your vocabury seems to exclusively consist of curses. Would the little child be so nice as to calm down at least?"

"You dare call me a little child? You dare say my vocabury is limited to curses? Do you know who I am?!"

"Apart from the fact that I indeed know who you are, it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the conversation. Please calm down and then I will surely answer your question."

I could see it on his face. His brows turned from this — — to this \ / during the conversation.

It was truly a delight to see.

  "You-"

Somehow, by god's miracle, he was able to calm down. I guess it must have been because of the friends he brought.

"Let's settle this outside in a duel."

  "Settle what?"

I cocked my head to the side.

  "Our grudge!"

"I don't know why you assume so, but I have no kind of grudge against you. Well, if I had to mention one thing about you that I don't like, then it's your weakness, cause, y'know, weakness disgusts me.

But you seem to want this room. I can fight you if you want and even bet the room, but just know, that renting the room cost me seven middle-grade Magic Stones. I hope that you can give me something of equal value."

  "I-"

"You don't have something like that here? Then I can be satisfied if you just lick the ground in front of me like a dog and bark three times. I believe this compensation would also be enough."

  "Okay."

'Hehehe, the fish has taken the bait. What good is face-spping without the humiliation that comes after? Like this, I can already be happy for a spectacle.'

I was excited. Everything until now went perfectly. Now I just had to humiliate him in the arena and then make him lick the ground.

I was obviously not making him lick my shoes, since I didn't want to wash them afterwards.

"Since that is the case, how about you invite a few more people. After all, with an audience this little, wouldn't it be a little boring?"

I suggested and the guy took the advice seriously, probably because he wanted to make sure no one else would ever dare to challenge him again, not knowing he was digging his own grave.

"Hey, did you hear? Someone provoked the young lord again." - NPC 1

"Poor guy. What did he do?" - NPC 2

"Apparently he booked the best room at the Soaring Dragon Inn." - NPC 1

"Which one of the inns?" - NPC 2

"The one the young lord always invites his friends to" - NPC 1

"Oh! And, did he already die?" - NPC 2

"No. Even the young lord wouldn't be able to publicly kill in the city." - NPC 1

"So, how is he gonna revenge this grudge?" - NPC 2

"It seems like they're gonna duel. Apparently, everyone can watch it too." - NPC 1

"Then what are we waiting for?" - NPC 2

After half an hour, everything was ready and we were standing in front of each other.

"Since I challenged you, you should have the first strike."

He suggested with a 'wise' posture that in reality just looked ridiculous.

"Nah. I don't want you to say, I sneak-attacked you ter."

I said, expressing a real concern I had.

  "You bastard!"

He screamed before rushing towards me, abandoning any composure he tried to show off. I used the consciousness in the white room to slow down my perception, before evading each and every one of his attacks by a hair's breadth, all while having a very provocating smirk on my face.

As my father was a Warrior, I learned a few techniques including footwork from him.

  "You bastard! Don't just dodge!"

I can imagine his frustration of almost hitting me every time only for me to barely slip away every time, all while looking at my provocating smirk.

  "Sure."

I say, still not wiping off my smirk, before leaning back, dodging another attack and afterwards moving my hands from behind my back, using the opening to sp his cheek.

Due to the punch, he flew out at an extreme speed, crashing into a nearby wall. I had strengthened myself for that sp, just to make it even more epic and boy, was that decision right.

As everyone looked at the wall, silence enveloped the pce.
