Furi turns her head at the source of the voice. A man, cd in a grey uniform and a warm smile. Standing on the other end of the bridge
“Yeah yeah, whatever, John” Mark said, waving zily
“He he, I thought I’ll do it differently this time” The man named John replied
“Rose is hurt, Get a stretcher.”
“1 Stretcher here, now!” John barks, seriously
“Paul, you should go to see Julia too, can you go there by yourself?” “Yes” Paul replied
John, curious, gnce at Furi, raising his hand, pointing at her “Who’s the dy”
“We don’t really know either, her name is Furi and we found her randomly” Mark replied
“In the range?” “Precisely”
John is taken back, afterall someone surviving alone in the range is..bizzare.
“Miss, you’re coming with me” he said with a serious look
“Furi, you go with him. Don’t do anything stupid” Mark said
“Thank you for the advice”
As she steps out from the boat, the boat rattles and the waves slosh against the pier
“Follow me” John said
Furi obeyed. Her eyes are met with something she can’t comprehend
Buildings almost as tall as the walls, Pipes spewing bck smoke, gears turns and churn with a metallic cng, People running everywhere, shouting orders, hauling crates and hammering steel. The air smells of ashes and sweat.
They walk for a while in the hustle and bustle
Finally, they arrive. A rusted and heavy metal door, carved into the side of what can be described as a wall of concrete
“In here, miss” John said standing on the side of the metal door. His hand at the knob opening into the room
Furi took a deep breath and nodded hesitantly
He twists the doorknob and opens the door. Furi steps in
She froze, the room was dark, nothing can be seen, her heart pounding in nervousness.
Suddenly, A click
The room suddenly lit up with a blinding light, Furi shield her eyes
After adjusting, a metal chair is seen in the middle of the room.
“Ahem Ahem, go ahead sit down” A voice is heard
Furi spun, trying to find the source of this new voice.
“I said SIT DOWN” The voice said angrily
Startled, Furi sits down on the chair
“Alright now, this room is ced with anomaly magic, it WILL hurt you if you lie, understand?” The voice said
“Y..Yes understand” Furi answered, seeing a magic circle above her spin to life with a purple shine
“First question, what is your real name?”
“Furi” “Your surname?” “I…don’t...have one?”
Silence fills the room, Thick and heavy
“Really? No surname, Anyway, where did you come from?”
“I don’t know”
“What do you mean you don’t know”
“I really-”
“Where were you born?”
“The…uh… Mountains?”
Silence, this time it is long. Her heart race, wondering if she answered wrong. She squirms in her chair uncomfortably under the invisible gaze. The next question dropped like boulders
“What is your purpose coming to Caprico?”
A hard one, her mind race thinking of an answer, sweat drops down from her face, hand clenched, then a word
“Adventure”
The room is silent once more. Furi’s mind wanders Is this what I really want to do? Is this really what I want?
The voice broke up, shattering her trance. Furi looked up only to hear the voice, ughing hysterically
“Really? Adventure in this god forsaken world” The voice said wheezing for air. “Whatever, you can leave”
Furi stands up from the chair, the mood now, less tense than it was. Slowly walk out of the door, breathing a huge sigh of relief. Walking into the crowd
“Officer John Sterming, come here” The voice announces
John stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.
“Yes, General Helios” John said, sharply
“Keep an eye on that dy, would you?”
“Yes sir”
“You may leave”
John saluted, turned, and disappeared into the noise of the door
On the other hand
“That is the report, sir” Mark said
“A marauder up in Tabor huh…That means there is a big scourge force there, if a marauder is present. What do you think Captain Mark” The short old man uttered, wearing a grey uniform, sitting behind steel desk gazing up at Mark with a menacing look. On the desk the name pte reads ‘General Marble’.
“That is very likely, sir” Mark replied
The General nodded “We will need the countermeasures” he said rising to his feet.
“You can go captain; I’ll report it to the Marshall in the next meeting” he ordered looking at the view in the window
“Excuse me sir” Mark said, salute and left
The General’s room is filled with silence. “Sending the youth to die, we never change huh” He signs as if he knows what the “countermeasures” will be “More meat to the grinder, any will do right now” he said, sinking down on his chair
“That dy he mentioned will do, more meat for the grinder”
Back to Furi
In the crowd, lost, she wanders around expecting someone being somewhere new
People walk, run, and haul things around her. She is reminded
All these people have identity, their own life, their own story. What is my purpose? What is my cause? Why am I Furi? Who created me?
Her hands tremble in the thought, in a trance even. Suddenly a hand grabs her shoulder
“You’re still here? Miss” John said
“Yea..yes” Furi replied, looking up from her trembling hands
John signs “I’ll take you to the others, so you’ll have someone to talk to” “okay” “Follow me”
John navigates through the crowd, Furi following close behind him
After a short while they arrive at a wooden door, etch into the steel wall. The sign above said ‘Medical Squadron, Caprico Defense Division’
Furi took a deep breath and walked through the door. A massive room, with beds dotted around.
“There she is!” Furi turns to the source of the voice, seeing Rose waving from her bed, with Paul standing beside her with bandages on his head
Furi walk towards them, she looks to the side seeing a patient lying on a bed, his leg twisted, a woman approaches him, suddenly a green magic circle fir and the patient leg twitch to normal
“Your first time seeing healing magic?” Paul said with a suspicious look on his face “Ye…Yeah” “How did the interrogator led you out?” “Uhm…”
“Come on, Paul. You don’t have to be that grumpy, she saved us” Rose uttered “Julia! This is the dy I talked about!”
The woman from before turned her head, “Oh hello there miss Furi! Can’t really talk to you right now” Furi waved back at the woman dawning a green robe.
Furi turns back to Rose
“So... how are you feeling?”
“Better than ever, Julia’s healing magic is top notch!” Rose said complimenting her friend.
Furi breathed a sigh of relief, sat down on a nearby chair, tired and exhausted from all that has happened today
She feels tired, dozy. She closes her eyes and dozes off in a blink.
