Chapter 12: Can I Give Up?

Chapter 12: Can I Give Up?

After a while of breaking down and wailing, my voice grew hoarse. My eyes parched. I had already cried all my tear my body could produce, but my body still twich in sorrow, my face contorted, crying dry tears.

Unfortunately it seem I exhausted Igor patience already.

"Damn kid, how long are you gonna cry for, its already been 2 hours. it was funny at first but now this is too much." Said Igor irritated.

"Get your ass up already, we got things to do and you still have that match at the colleseum"

Igor opened the door and stepped inside.

He crouch to where I was at and put his hand on my hairless head.

Slowly I was engulfed in a familiar black Mana.

Slowly my body regrew until I was fully healed, all evidence that of what I did gone from my body.

"And put these clothes on" he threw a black shirt and pants.

I listened mindlessly, I was just following orders like an obedient dog. I didn't want to think anymore, I wanted someone else to take charge.

'Can I give up?' I thought helplessly

After finishing up changing, I follow Igor out the cage, stepping over the corpses

I was taken upstairs and down the hallway and was taken to the front desk.

  The receptionist wasn't there anymore.

Igor went behind the desk and look through the cabinets.

"Hmm, hmmm aha! Found it" Igor pulled out a book.

"This here is a skill book. It will help you with your fight in the coliseum. It's a skill that temporarily Slows everything down in your mind. You'll be able to protect yourself from attacks that would just destroy you."

  He handed it to me.

  I mechanicly grabbed the book.

"Go on, go into a room and start reading." He said

I dragged myself to the closest door I could find and entered.

There was a table in the middle with two sofas, one to the right, the other one was to the left.

I sat down on the right one.

I was about to close my eyes until I received a message.

  *

Message: Sorry for being absent for a while. You should check your stats, they've increased

  *

  I ignored the message.

  *

Message: I know a way to protect you outside from the Eldritch God.

  *

I didn't care about trying to find a solution right now.

I closed my eyes to stop seeing the messages

  *

Message: I can help you fight the orge.

  *

Despite my eyes being closed, I could still see.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

I was Still in turmoil but I didn't want to lose against the orge. Even though I just killed so many people. I still didn't want to die.

'Sure go ahead, what is that you want to give me'

I didn't think much about his offer to help. I thought that maybe he might be using me. if he was, I deserved it after taking the life of so many people.

  *

Message: I can give you a trait that can grow with you. A trait that adapts with you as you grow.

  *

  'Alright. ' I waited for a response

  *

  Message: Understood

  Transferring Trait: Blank Seed

  *

I felt a warm heat spread throughout my body.

'Alright, time to learn that skill for the book'

I slowly got sat up from the couch, I opened up the book and inside were incomprehensible words. I couldn't read anything.

Fortunately, I didn't have to. The words floated into the air and started to circle around me.

"Huh?!" I was startled by the floating words.

I could hear someone getting closer to the door, as if trying to hear what's happening inside.

Rapidly, the words enter my head through my skull.

All the words entered my mind. The book slowly burned away and turned to ash.

"Huh, that wasn't so diffic-" I was cut off by a intense pain.

It felt like my mind was on fire, my head felt like it was being forcefully expanded.

I tried to scream, but nothing came out.

After a while the pain slowly subsided.

  "Ow....shit that hurt"

"Tsk" I heard someone say in disappointment outside the door before leaving.

  ' I should check my status '

  Assistant perspective

After Colt told me that I should have justed hide all of his skills from the beginning, I stayed silent.

I put his status on auto pilot so that I didn't have to write out more information and focus on what was happening to him.

I watched as he burned the room, smoke filling the air.

I saw as he punched Igor and was kick through the wall.

'Should I help him? He can't die but he's no use to me if after he is captured again, he can't be sold. Now that Igor knows that Colt has more skills, he might lock him up and disect him to learn about his skills. If he does then this 'vessel' will be of no use to me anymore'

By now, Igor was holding Colt by the neck.

Igor announced to everyone that Colt was going to enter in the coliseum.

'Well, that's better than being used as a lab rat. But Colt isn't exactly strong. What does he plan to do about increasing his strength'

I was relived that someone else was helping him to get stronger. I wanted to make sure I didn't help Colt too much or he'll start questioning what I'm saying.

'At least now I can still play the role of assistant'

Colt was taken into the building and down stairs where he was held captive.

The words to come out Igor's mouth shocked me.

"Kill them, all of them" Said Igor

I was surprised at this turn of events, but slowly I started to formulate a plan.

'Colt will likely be forced to kill all of them, considering what I've observed from his behavior, he'll likely be broken by the time he kills them all. By then I can start talking to him and offer my help. Because of how mentally unstable he'll be, he won't notice or care that the help I'm offering is sketchy.'

I stayed silent and watched as he massacred everyone.

Slowly i saw everything falling into place. His instinctual movements that killed.

After he finished. Igor entered and twisted the knife that was already stabbed through his heart

" You know. Had you not killed anyone by the time I came back, I would have let you all live. You didn't think I was serious did you?" Said Igor

This cruelty fit his character, but still caught me off guard.

' This guy doesn't have any kind of semblance of a heart.' I thought

  ' Well, I can't criticize him, I'd be a hypocrite if I did. '

I was going to take advantage of Colt state of mind to plant a seed.

' in fact, I think it's good that Igor said that, now Colt won't care even if he finds my help sketchy. His guilt will blind him, making him believe that even if i was using him that he deserves it'

I watched as Colt followed Igor out the cage and back toward the receptionist desk, where he was handed a skill book.

I could already tell something was wrong with this so called 'Skill book' but I didn't say anything.

Saying anything now wasn't going to increase my trust with Colt. I need him to be 'fixed' first, then I could tell him when his mind is more stable and he'll be able to think for himself that I'm trustworthy.

He went into the room and layyed down

'Alright, time to put my plan Into motion'

  Igor Perspective

Damn, when is this kid going to start screaming. I was at the door, leaning my ear against the wall to listen to him learn the skill.

' I purposely didn't tell him that learning skills from skill books is painful so that I could hear him scream. Come, make some kind of reaction already. '

I stood there listening to anything that could remotely sound like if he was in pain.

' is he holding in his screams. Come scream like your were before. '

  "Ow.... shit that hurts."

'That's it! You experience your mind fucking reconstructing itself, and the only thing that to comes out of your trap is 'OW'! "

  "Tsk" what a disappointment.

I walked away and back towards the receptionist desk. Going behind the desk I press a button under the desk.

The wall behind me opens slightly, a breeze of wind hitting me as it opened.

I open the door and enter, closing the door behind me.

The room was big, the wall were covered in books. There were only three chairs and a table in the middle.

In one of the chairs, the receptionist was siting on the chair and eating a sandwich.

"Hu egor" Said the receptionist while still chewing on her food.

"Hello Mia, have you made the preparations for today's event."

Swallowing her food she said "Yeah. Everything things going smoothly, in fact, we had to make more tickets because we sold out. Word got out fast about today's fight".

Laughing i said " Good, let's make sure tonight's show goes spectacular"

"I have a question about the book that was under the desk, did you give it to anyone " she asked

"Yep, gave it to the new money maker of mine"

"The kid, wow that cruel. What did you tell him it was"

"That it was a skill book. Technically it is hahaha" I couldn't finish my sentences because I couldn't hold back my laughter.

" That skill will deteriorate his mind the more he uses it. You plan to have him fight in the coliseum until he becomes an empty husks for you to control, right?"

"Hahahaha. I can't want for my new toy to be ready. I'm sure you heard his screams from up here, did you not" I couldn't hold back my smile any longer and grin from ear to ear.

"Stop smiling like that, you look like a creep"

I stayed in that room until I heard an alarm go off.

"Well then, seems that my time is up"

Bowing slighty, I took my leave

  'Its time to have fun'.
