Chapter 13: Making You Wish You Were Dead
Wei Yanwei sneered coldly: "Don't understand what I mean? Dogs crawl on all fours with their bellies to the ground. From now on, you will have to crawl when you walk. As for chairs, you'll lie on the ground for me to sit on. Tables? You'll squat down and use your backs as tables for tea and water. Candle holders? You'll stand with candles on your heads. From now on, remember your pce. Kneel when you should kneel, crawl when you should crawl. If anyone dares to stand up straight, I'll break her legs!"
After Wei Yanwei finished her harsh words, her icy gaze swept across everyone's faces.
Immediately, all the maids looked ashen, their eyes filled with terror.
This punishment was even crueler than killing them.
Wei Yanwei called in the guards to clear out all the tables, chairs, and stools in the room, then brought in several dog leashes and threw them around the necks of the maids meant to act as dogs.
The other maids, assigned to be tables, chairs, stools, or candle holders, all squatted, y down, or stood in the corners of the room.
For Wei Yanwei, tormenting someone was not just about physical pain. Simply beating them up wouldn't vent her anger.
She wanted to torment them both physically and mentally, and this torment would never end.
They never treated her as a person before, so she would not treat them as people now.
In her eyes, these people were nothing but tables, chairs, stools, and dogs!
Wei Yanwei held the dog leashes tied to nine maids, looked at the maids crawling on the ground like dogs, and gave a sinister smile: "I want to go for a walk now. Let's go!"
Leaving the Taoyuan Courtyard, passing servants and house staff saw the nine maids crawling on the ground, leashed by Wei Yanwei, and their faces turned pale with shock, fear spreading from their feet to every hair on their heads.
Wei Yanwei, however, walked the maids around the prime minister's residence as if nothing was wrong.
The maids crawling on the ground already had bloody hands and knees. If they slowed down, Wei Yanwei would drag them forward by the leash, leaving red marks on their necks.
Before long, news of this shocking event spread to every room and courtyard.
"Truly someone raised with beasts-no humanity at all! Just because the Evil King supports her, she dares to act so brazenly in the prime minister's residence, parading the maids around as a warning to us? Hmph, that little wretch, when the Evil King goes to court, I'll make sure she pays!" The main wife, Madam Shen, was furious, her anger compounded by the pain of giving away the gold and jade bracelet that morning.
Hmph, she never intended to truly give that bracelet to that little wretch-it would come back to her eventually.
"Exactly! That little wretch is too arrogant, relying on the Evil King. She even dared to accept the bracelet Madam has worn for years!" the concubines and young dies chimed in.
"Madam, the Evil King is only interested in her for now. With his cruel nature, Wei Yanwei won't st long. I bet she won't survive a few days!" the third concubine decred.
In their eyes, Wei Yanwei only had her current status because of the Evil King. Without him, she was nothing but an ant, easily crushed.
Besides, none of the Evil King's previous wives survived more than a month. Wei Yanwei was doomed.
"Still, her life is tough. The previous wives all killed themselves, but she hasn't. Maybe she's used to a life worse than a dog, so the Evil King doesn't scare her?" The Song family concubines discussed.
The eldest concubine nodded thoughtfully: "Maybe so. Look at her today-her clothes and demeanor are much better than before. She won't kill herself."
"Hmph, marrying her off didn't kill her, it actually helped her live better!" Madam Song was extremely resentful.
She thought of the ten dowry maids and the vish bridal gifts, especially the golden phoenix hairpin she spent months making, which she hadn't even had a chance to show off before it ended up on Wei Yanwei's head. She was furious.
Her own daughter never had such a grand wedding.
The more Madam Song thought, the angrier she became, wishing she could tear out Wei Yanwei's hair.
How could a wretch like her deserve to wear the golden phoenix hairpin?
That hairpin was meant for her!
"If she doesn't kill herself, what should we do? Let her keep funting herself?" the fourth concubine sighed.
Indeed, life at the Evil King's residence was better than at the prime minister's. Who would want to die?
Madam Song's eyes narrowed, gripping the armrest tightly: "Judging by the Evil King's attitude today, Wei Yanwei seems to be favored!"
Her tone changed, and the concubines understood-Madam Song was about to act.
"If Wei Yanwei doesn't die, I'll find a way to make the Evil King sentence her to death. Go find the servants who usually have contact with her..." Madam Song's gaze was full of scheming intent.
Yun Xie and Prime Minister Wei were discussing matters in the study. When they returned to the Taoyuan Courtyard and saw the scene inside, Yun Xie gnced at Xuan Li behind him.
Xuan Li looked confused.
Inside, all the tables, chairs, and stools were gone. Four maids were half-squatting, backs arched as tables, with teapots and cups pced on them. Four others y on the ground, serving as chairs. Two stood with candle holders on their heads.
Who knew how long they'd held these positions? All were drenched in sweat, and except for the two standing, the others were trembling. The worst off were the ones with teapots and cups on their backs.
"Did the princess order this?" Yun Xie asked.
The guard replied, "Yes!"
"Oh, the princess is quite creative!" Yun Xie looked around the room, wondering where to sit.
Just then, Xuan Li behind him suddenly shuddered, and Yun Xie turned around.
He saw nine maids crawling in, led by Wei Yanwei with leashes around their necks. Their hands and knees were bloody, their faces twisted in pain.
His princess was truly... ruthless!
To come up with such a method of torment. But Yun Xie suddenly thought-perhaps this was the way these maids had treated Wei Yanwei in the past. He smiled coldly under his mask.
