Chapter 22 - Rage of a Titan

  Chapter 22 – Rage of a Titan

“Where the hells have, they gone!” Maelos shouted whilst hammering his fist against the wall. It shook for several floors above and below, all but the strongest fell to their knees from the force.

“This is an outrage! They were in the palm of our hands RIGHT THERE, damn you Areya, I will tear you apart mark my words!” His voice echoing and shaking the rooms further.

Phahl appears in the room, sly as ever.

  “As the last flake fal~.”

Maelos grabs Phahl overpowering the god easily. Tightening his grip further and further.

Phahl tries to escape but it’s useless, this death grip claims all it touches.

How lucky it is that such a being can be spared by the appearance of someone far lesser. A member of the cult reports they received word from Affilan.

“Nefarious one, we have received dire news from Affilan.” He reports.

Phahl fell to the floor, gasping. The divine energy slowly returned to his being, yet he lay there still in shock and fear. How is he able to harm something like me!? The terrifying thought raced around his mind.

The member was dragged unwillingly to where Maelos stood, a force that was not to be reckoned with. His metallic boots grinded along the floor with such a force that it generated sparks as it did so.

“Tell me everything, spare nothing, NOTHING YOU UNDERSTAND?” The cultist member stood there trembling against the blue energy holding him against his will. There is no use resisting, it will only kill him faster.

“Affi-commander Affilan has reported that an unknown entity, of immense power appeared at the last moment, during a fight against Areya.”

“They both made a single attack against each other, so strong was the force…it caused a Chasm to form”

“The girl, she dragged all but the Areya into it with her… into the chasm, and it sealed itself shut. Areya in a violent uncontrollable rage unleashed several devastating attacks within the vicinity.” The

Maelos erupted in rage, the blue struck against the wooden walls sparking as it did so.

“I do not care for the antics of a fool such as Areya. A person of no concern; a forced tear however…that cannot be. It is impossible, not even I can achieve such a thing as a chosen of kaiser” Maelos was disgusted at the thought. For he craved power like no other, sacrificed relentlessly to obtain it.

“I will linger in the area in case of a spontaneous return – over and out.”

“These are the precise words she reported before returning to her espionage nefarious one.”

A second member of the cultists appears via a portal.

“As the last flake falls, sir I bring news”

“Vahrife? What is of such importance than you leave your station… will you be another who brings me terrible news on this cursed day?

“Sir there’s been an unexpected occurrence… The greys…they have both been unified, led by heads of state in their colonies.” The words pained Maelos, meticulous planning was starting to unravel.

Kaiser give me the strength I need to maintain this realm Maelos thought.

“What is the situation in the in the nests?” he said glaring intently through his subordinate.

“We have already been discovered and evicted from the western colony; we are fighting back in the east, but they will soon overwhelm us without aid.”

The cultists being held was ripped apart from an unseen fury. The mess covered Maelos, Phahl and the newly entered officer. Drenched in blood Maelos held his left arm to his ear.

  “Affilan” he said quietly.

A few seconds of silence, a silence that would test the sanity of the bravest heroes should they have been present today.

“Maelos I am here” reported Affilan

“Leave your position, immediately, you are to reach the eastern colony and aid in the fight” Maelos ordered Affilan.

“For kaiser wills it” she replied with conviction.

Maelos roared and so did his machine parts. Whirring and unleashing now green sparks that emanated outwards. Phahl quickly left the room returning to the godly realm to lick his wounds clean. Vahrife returned to his station vanishing through the swirling putrid shimmering greens that transport the followers.

The nefarious one spoke once more, this time to all the members.

“All believers of his divine self, as of this moment a new unexpected foe as joined in the fight against the true path, we do not know its name, we do not know its powers nor its goals.”

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

For a slight moment, Maelos felt something he had not in many years… hunger. A worthwhile foe has possibly appeared stirring his desire to action.

“The wielder has a power, the likes I have not heard of, defying everything I have even faced thus far. Report and do not engage unless given permission, if this means you must be sacrificed so be it, the will of kaiser is absolute.”

“As the last flake falls, so too will the ashes of her chosen” he bellowed across the communication network.

Perhaps it is time to see how things fare elsewhere Maelos thought. Disappearing himself, through a shimmering red portal that threw out molten lava as he stepped inside.

A world deep at war from systemic collapse, fighting was raging all around him. Heavily armoured soldiers stood atop a hill, their bannerman waved a flag which had on it a single letter F, Beautifully written with calligraphy. It rallied those around it and glowed a strong purple.

The soldiers began firing off automatic guns into incoming waves of everyday people fighting for survival. Tearing them to pieces, as the enhanced bullets passed through one freedom fighter into the next. Warcry's became Screaming, screaming became silence.

One individual, their champion; returned the gesture in kind. A warrior wielding a glaive charged from the back of the ranks into the heart of the regiment.Crunk the sound rang out as the weapon connected with one of the soldiers.

These were no blood-filled beings, only wires, circuits, ones and coding drove them, they do not know of the word mercy.

A spinning strike with only the most perfect of precision, whirling in the air, generating blades of wind in the aftermath which rips through the ranks leaving only stragglers left for the freedom fighters to deal with. Some of the soldiers blow up from damage to the electronics, most just simply fell where they stood.

Amateur Maelos thought, watching the warrior from afar.

“You’re fighting, it is a waste of energy. Here let me show you some tips and tricks.” He said to himself.

Maelos conjured a glaive of his own in the air, grabbing it and bounded across. The warrior barely had time to react and was forced to their knees from the single-handed downswing that Maelos brought upon them. Loud and droning ringing could be emitted from the clash of weapons and drew the attention of the those fighting for their lives.

The impact triggered a shockwave that raged across the landscape, buckling the already trembling legs of those trying to reach their champion. Their champion did not falter however.

“Seems I misjudged your capabilities, allow m~.”

A blinding, radiant light caught Maelos by surprise burning and staggering him. The warrior, calmly and elegantly delivered a slice that took the left leg of Maelos cleanly off searing the wound as it did so.

He roared with anger and not of pain, only to be interrupted by a strong kick down the hill and onto the battlefield. Grunting as he landed.

The warrior spoke, voice altered by the mask they wore.

“Champion of Kaiser, his influence does not reach this far into the stars. You’re cursed boons are weak here.”

Maelos laughed in response, immediately regenerating his lost limb and levitated in the air.

“Perhaps. In the journey of power however, one may gain from other methods. A variety will always be the spice of life as they say.”

He clapped and a wheel of weapons appeared each as deadly as the other, glowing various colours of the elements. Freezing the air, burning it, corroding the ground has they dripped down to the surface below.

They clashed once more, only this time Maelos fought with weapons that had minds of their own.

The sheer number of strikes that were directed at the warrior was only countable by the sounds of each strike being parried and blocked, the odd strike connecting but they had protections beyond the skills to.

“Do you still think me not capable of carrying out the lords work here liberator?” Maelos said as the elemental effects began to sizzle, corrode away at the protections the warrior had.

The glaive split of the warrior, with a twist and a click. Became two weapons in each hand.

“Damn you Maelos and that wicked lord of yours.!” they said.

“I’ll gladly send the ashes of her chosen to the winds, Kaiser is absolute, but I’m afraid my vacation to Scion must be cut short. I have a parting gift however for you I hope it meets expectations; I’ve been nurturing it just for you.”

Maelos forced open a portal. Screams erupted out as it formed a circle shape in the air and man fell to the ground. More screaming followed which turned into guttural, thunderous echoes as the man rapidly shifted from corruptions.

He grew at an alarming pace, skin rotting as it did so. He was in immense pain that was quickly silenced by his own transformation. This was no longer a man. Pustules grew out of the creatures back , arms became wet, slimy and talons formed where hands once were. An abomination had appeared.

“This is one of my most recent creations. Careful you don’t hurt him too much, bit of an overly sensitive soul this one, seems to not take getting hurt so lightly.” He cackled. His machinery whirring energetically and glowing a fearsome sky blue.

He flew towards the red portal that he created. Returning to dark, cold and vile place he resides. Though in is quest for some relief from the troubles of this world, he had forgotten who watched over him.

“Do not forget your place boy” a chilling and piercing voice echoed around the room upon Maelos’s return.

“Kaiser, praise be!” Maelos said, swiftly taking a knee.

“Your mission is here on Maliterr, do not waste time on a soon to be dead world. I will not tolerate many more of these excursions to that fallen world.” Maelos kneeled even deeper in response. He had angered his master, a rare thing for him.

“Forgive me Kaiser, I simply wished to relieve myself from recently events, my focus has returned I assure you.” He said, Kaiser had already left.

“I promise I will succeed my lord.” Returning to his feet and walking into the shadows.

The warrior flew into the abomination. Fear will cast no shadow on their life, nor the hearts of Scion. A vile smell erupted as twin blade tore the creature to pieces. Unfazed they fought on through the gases enveloping the area.

The warrior shielded themselves with a barrier. The creature attacked with blows that broke through however, and was able to cause some damage, a few small burns on exposed parts not covered by armour. Remedied with a soothing salve, the burns were quickly gone.

“Forgive me, I’ll try to be as quick as I can sir.” The warrior said as the abomination spat at them, dissolving some of the armour they wore. Revealing a severely scarred shoulder and arm. Unflinching the warrior pressed forward, though the abomination adapted to the situation and began trying to head towards the freedom fighters.

Many screamed in terror and fled as it bounded across the battlefield. Stomping and ending lives of the wounded unable to react in time. Yet others, stood courageous and fought back against it.

The warrior was not quite as fast as the abomination but had managed to eventually catch up. Taking another leap of faith and rejoining the weapon midair. They delivered a mighty downward club towards into the creature.

“There should be rest, for those afflicted by the wicked!” They shouted out
