Chapter 7 – Missing

The car began driving up the long hill, which was covered in patches of light that shined through the clouds. Celosia knew that they were getting near to Peter and Evelyn's house now, it would just be halfway down this hill and they would arrive.

As they reached the top, they drove past a rge gated school with various expansions attached to it that Celosia was famair with seeing everytime she came to the Isnd.

It was currently closed, with brick walls surrounding It. The centeral building was the rgest with a dozen floors, the various windows on each floor was painted bck, in contrast to the rest of the building being painted dark red, the top of the other buildings had the same colors as well but she couldn't see the rest of their appearance from her spot in the car.

Celosia has heard that the school was called Besant Academy and that it was a private school.

The car soon drove down the hill, where numerous houses on both sides of the hill can be seen moving downward towards the bottom, however there was a long space between the right side of the hill to allow two small stores, a book shop and a repair shop, they were both closed as the family drove past them.

But through the book shops rge window showing off the dispys of numerous books, Celosia noticed, something odd, moving within the store's shadows. It was a figure, but it looked like an oversized turtle with how green it stood out in the darkness, it even had something resembling a rge turtle shell on its back, and his teeth, from what little Celosia could see of the figure looked like mammoth tusks.

That, couldn't be real, Celosia thought, it had to be a costume or something, but why was there someone in a bookstore wearing a turtle costume? It looked ridiculous and just confused Celosia more then anything.

"What the hell." Celosia kept her gaze on the window of the book shop even as the family drove further away from it.

"What is it now?" Isobel reluctantly asked. She sounded, exhausted saying those words even when she was full of energy talking to her other daughters minutes ago.

"Nothing." Celosia answered back to her mother. She knew her family wouldn't believe her over what she saw, although to be fair to them for once, who wouldn't if she told them that she saw a giant turtle in that bookstore, they would ugh at her and ridicule her if she did tell them.

"I was just interested in that book store that we passed just now, since Agatho didn't have one." Celosia lied, although this wasn't techinally lying, as she did like the book shop and she wanted to visit it when she had the time, maybe she'll see that turtle man up close.

"I'm interested in it too." Gio bubbled, his mood picking up.

"We can go by and visit it whenever it's open, but for now." He stopped the car.

  "We're here." He announced.

After a long a ferry ride and a much shorter car ride, the Barnes family looked up at the house they will be staying at for awhile.

The house was tall, it was probably the tallest house in this steep neighbourhood with five floors compared to the two or three floors the other houses in the neighbourhood had.

The house was painted blue, with two windows on each floor, except for the st floor where the attic was, there was only one rge window instead.

To Gio, Isobel, Lily, Addison and Willow, it was their new home, but to Celosia, it was still Evelyn's house, as well as Damon and Damian's, they were just staying in it because of her father's new job on the council, and so they can still support Evelyn at a much closer distance until she wakes up.

The family soon got out of the car, each grabbing boxes. "Now rooms haven't been decided yet girls, so feel free to choose the ones that you prefer, there's tons to choose from in this house." Gio tried to sound cheerful, but Celosia could tell that there was some, hurt in his voice due to the recent less of his brother, Celosia looked at him sympathetically.

"Although I would prefer it if your new rooms are near ours." Isobel only suggested this to her three oldest daughters and she spoke in a way that suggested she would be disappointed in Lily, Willow and Addison if their rooms weren't close to her and Gio's room on the second floor. She did not look at Celosia when she said this, as she didn't care if Celosia's room was nearby or on a floor higher then hers, as long as she couldn't hear her do anything weird, then she didn't care where Celosia slept in their new house.

As the family approached the house and entered it, Celosia stood near the car, she was going to join her family inside soon, but she wanted to look at the neighbourhood for a bit before going inside.

The streets glowed white, making it look as though Celosia was standing in a field of snow on a cliff like on the top floor of the ferry, although in this part of America, snow barely falls, decembers are often hot but were still colder then other seasons that weren't summer, currently it was september.

Celosia liked snow as much as she liked summer.

You could d?i?e? in either weather.

for the snow, it would be like d???y???i???n???g??? under a warm bnket, until y????o?????u????'????r????e???? ???n?????o????t??? ????s???e???e?????n????, maybe that's how Celosia should d?????i????e??????... Under a warm bnket of snow.

Celosia noticed a small brick wall on the otherside of the street, it had a dozen photos of various boys around her age. They were hung up there like memorial photos but there was a sign nearby that read the following:

  Missing

Please call this number if you have any information about the whereabouts of these boys.

  (Followed by the phone number.)

Fifteen boys, white, bck, hispanic, arab and japanese were smiling in each photo, unaware that someone would take them away from their loved ones. They all had bck hair with pierceings of some kind around their faces, some on their noses, ears or even tongue, they also had facial hair on either their chin or around their upper lip, such as the japanese boy. Celosia gave off another sympathetic look at the photos.

She wondered to herself, if the bastard or bastards who took these boys had been caught yet, no doubt someone or a group had kidnapped them as it would be strange that a rge number of boys would just up and runaway from home. But whoever took them should have their skulls bashed into an unrecongisable state for whatever fucked up reason they had for kidnapping them.

She hoped that these boys would be found like their family and friends would want, but, Celosia's cynical mind thought otherwise. If they haven't been found yet then they're likely dead at this point, it's a sad, but hard hitting reality.

Celosia turned, and finally walked into the house.
