Chapter 10 – Downpour

The Woman liked the rain, but she would watch it like what she was doing now, watching the raindrops hit her window and slowly move down It. By her ear was her phone as she waited for her friend to pick up, to discuss some recent developments in Fmel, such as Celosia's arrival.

She turned away from the window, as she was more focused with calling her friend, who works in Besant alongside the Woman, and tends to Seiji whenever the woman couldn't.

"Oh, hey Maria." Maria's friend Amelia Brittle said on the other end, Maria smiled in her dark apartment at hearing her friends voice.

"Hey Amelia, at Besant right now doing some boring paperwork?" Maria would ugh, her hand touching her side, Amelia was often swarmed with paperwork even when Besant was close, still, she liked the work and how quiet the work enviroment was.

"Well I do have to these papers done before the break ends." Amelia responded with a ugh as well.

"Is something wrong this time? Seiji's fine if you're worried for him." Amelia asked with concern, as whenever Maria called her, it was usually something important, like checking on Seiji's health or to pass on an important message to him. They never do have time for ideal conversation these days, even when they were talking in person.

"I know he's alright, you would have called me if he broke something or suffered a heart attack anyway." Maria bantered to Amelia, granted, despite his age, Seiji has never suffered a heart attack, but Maria and Amelia were always prepared for whatever ailment that would hit the vice principal, given his ancient age.

"But yeah, this is Important." Maria's id back expression suddenly turned serious. She walked further into her apartment, looking up towards her white ceiling.

"I need to talk to Seiji ter tonight, about a new student who'll be joining Besant once the break ends." Maria expined.

"She just arrived to Fmel a few hours ago." She added, Amelia soon realised what she meant.

"You mean that Celosia girl?" Amelia sounded hesitant, she had heard Maria and Seiji bring up her name a couple of times whenever she stood near Seiji's door or when Maria passed by the office before the break began.

Amelia knew Celosia's admission to Besant would be, controversial, hence her hesitated tone of voice. Celosia's not like anyone that attends the school, yet not only do Maria and Seiji seem to know about this random girl, but they want her attending the school for some reason.

Yet despite this decision, Amelia was only worried, she didn't pass judgement to Maria and Seiji about this. The two had always made good decisions in the past, so admitting this Celosia girl to Besant might be a good decision too, even if she was still anxious about the day Celosia arrives to the school and discovers, the truth about it.

"Yeah." Maria would confirm that was what she wanted to see Seiji about.

"Alright, I'll arrange a meeting for you two for ter tonight." Once she got Amelia's confirmation, Maria's serious expression subsided, and It was repced with a smile again over this upcoming meeting.

"You slept in this room?" Celosia queried Louisa as she looked around the room, this was actually one of her favourite guest rooms, so Louisa picked the right room during her stay in the house.

The two were sitting in an empty bedroom at the edge of a pink bed, the wallpaper around them was of a dark green like most of the other rooms in the house and the light in the room was turned off, with the only light coming from outside. The rain was becoming heavier then it originally was half an hour ago.

"I actually slept in the guest room next door." Louisa beamed as she pointed to the wall at the end of the bed.

"But the window there was dirty, no matter how hard I cleaned it, so, whenever I was checking my photos, or just needed time away from Damon and Damian, I came through here." Louisa expined.

"With the door locked so they wouldn't annoy me." Louisa sneered, referring to Damon and Damian. Just to be sure that the two weren't being watched by them, they towards the door to the bedroom, it was still closed with the locks left untouched as per Isobel's demands.

"Yeah, I get that." Celosia sympathised as she looked back at the window and the forming raindrops on the otherside.

"How have you been doing since the st time we saw each other Louisa?" Celosia asked as she continued watching the window.

"Just, getting through life, taking photos, and just." Louisa paused, a sad look arising on her face, Celosia realised what it was she was sad about, her uncle Basaran.

Basaran wasn't really well liked by the rest of the family, while he was on friendly terms with his brother Gio, the two were still distant to each other. The only people that he liked in the family outside of Louisa and Evelyn, were his other two brothers, Peter and Uncle Asher.

He also apprentley really liked Celosia too even if she couldn't remember him, there would be moments whenever Celosia was a toddler and he came by to visit with Louisa during breaks between jobs, where he would be happy to be around Celosia.

Isobel didn't like him from the way that she described him, but then again, she hates every friend that the family has. Besides being quiet and honest about everything whenever he talked, he also had a habit of getting into fights like Celosia does, it was probably why he became a mercenary ter on.

Louisa has long since dropped that job in favour of photography now, mainly because, with Basaran missing, the job just didn't feel, as good as It used to be. There was probably some other reason Louisa quitted the mercenary life, but she's never comfortable expning why whenever the question was brought up. Most of the family believed that Basaran was dead at this point but Louisa thought differently.

Louisa still believed that Basaran was still alive somewhere and Celosia had faith in her uncle being alive too, she wants to meet him one day and see what he's really like, and she was sure that Basaran would be happy to see her again too.

All that Celosia could remember of her uncle was how threatening and tall he was, his face covered In scars, Louisa also had simir scars across her body, but she doesn't like to talk about them either, which Celosia understands.

And yet, Celosia didn't find Basaran scary because of this, she knew he was a kind man who preferred a quiet and peaceful enviroment then somewhere with a lot of people.

Celosia remembered seeing her uncle sitting by a cliff not too far from the house, it was during a family gathering and she saw him heading up to a cliff, and so she wanted to see what Basaran was up too, her parents didn't notice the two leaving as they were arguing over some pills that Isobel found at the back of the car.

Basaran was watching clouds gathering in the blue sky that day, his face mencholy, until he saw Celosia approach him, his sadness went away after that, as if he found meaning. He picked her up and pyfully threw her up in the air a few times before walking down the cliff so he could take her back to Peter and Evelyn.

That was the only memory that she has of him, but he was protective of her and he made her ugh when he threw her upwards that day.

"I, haven't found any news, about your uncle." Louisa mented.

"It's been awhile since I st got anything really." Louisa moved her hair slightly when it got into her face, she changed the subject, her face slowly forming back into a smile.

"Other then that, my boss back up north will love these photos that I took while I was staying here." Louisa would flip through the film roll on her camera.

"You'll love them too Celosia, I'll be sure to send them to you when I develop them when I get back home." Louisa became exulted.

"And Evelyn too, when she wakes up." Louisa hoped, as did Celosia too that Evelyn would wake up soon, the photos will help her while she recovers. She would need cheering up when the realisation of her husband's death comes back to her after awakening from her coma, it was apprentley the reason she was in the coma in the first pce.

She supposedly saw, Peter's broken corpse at the end of the stairs, a horrifying sight, yet it seemed, far fetched that she ended up in a shock inducing coma. It seemed so rare for someone to do that Celosia thought, more so someone with a strong will like Evelyn, maybe she can tell us more when she wakes up, Celosia thought, she and Louisa would want to learn the truth when Evelyn was ready to tell them.

"We would love that Louisa." Celosia cheered.

"I love seeing your photos." Celosia would move closer to look at her aunt's photos.

Rain never slowed Haruo down, whenever it rains, it just gives him motivation to run faster through it, and give him a goal in mind whenever he's jogging through rain, to not slip and fall. If he slipped and fell during a fight, then it would give whoever attacked him an advantage.

The other kaiju's didn't need to think about this warning for now, but Haruo defintely did, If a hunter or enemy gains an advantage over him then would be terrible, he needed to fight through the elements whenever he can, even if it risks giving him a cold or hypothermia, that was what medicine was for anyway.

He kept running through the empty wet streets of Fmel, focusing on the energy In his legs. He thought jogging would help stop this limp, or at least, get him to ignore it for a little while.

But no matter how hard he ran, the pain was still there, and it would keep him from focusing on his jog, he would have to stop now and again because the pain was that unbearable to ignore, much to his frustration.

In the middle of the road, as the continuous heavy rain poured down around him, Haruo moved his hands to his knees, "fucking damnit!" He growled in anger.

The pain was still there, a living reminder of every mark, scartch and bruise that he was given by her, a living reminder of how much of a failure he was to her, and to his family, the one that he has now and the ones that he lost that night.

His legs trembled as he thought about her words st night.

  "You're never strong enough."

He gripped his chest, taking deep breaths, and his fear subsided for now.
