14.Níðhöggr

  Whoosh!

As if sensing Oliver's intent, the World Tree began to flee rapidly, its branches and leaves trembling, emitting a strange sound. However, its roots were still clutching Ymir's flesh—a mass of flesh as vast as the moon. Carrying such a thing, how could it possibly run fast?

But just as Oliver was about to give chase, he suddenly felt a cold chill approaching swiftly from the surrounding chaos! He quickly directed his soul power to lock onto the source of that chill, and immediately saw a rge group of ferocious-looking deities charging toward him at breakneck speed!

They were a group of strange creatures, their bodies resembling wolves, but their heads were closer to those of giant dragons, covered in bck scales with dark red edges—like corroded metal. Because there were so many of them, they looked like a massive tide of ants, densely packed, as if they could overwhelm everything. And because he stared at them, a long string of information appeared on Oliver's panel:

Name: NíemogrRace: DeityDeity Rating: 7AttributesDefense: 5000Strength: 4500Chaos Power: 4000Soul Power: 3200Skills: UnknownPossessions: UnknownNíemogr? Oliver pondered thoughtfully, suddenly realizing what these monsters were—they were the so-called ancestors of Níeh?ggr! In legend, Níeh?ggr represented decay and destruction, the sworn enemy of the World Tree Yggdranos! It’s highly likely that the Níeh?ggr of ter generations emerged from this very group of monsters, the sole surviving and far stronger individual! No wonder Oliver had just noticed that the World Tree was injured—it must have been these creatures’ doing!

The number of these monsters was simply overwhelming, thousands upon thousands, stretching beyond sight. Compared to the lion pack Oliver had encountered before, they were countless times stronger! Perhaps the World Tree wasn’t fleeing from Oliver at all, but from these monsters. If these monsters were allowed to gnaw at it unchecked, this young World Tree might very well die here.

And these creatures must have been hunting the World Tree all along, because in the map Hector and the others provided, there was a warning to beware of “Hog”—Oliver had wondered earlier what that was. Now he understood—the “Hog” they mentioned was Níemogr! And at this moment, Oliver certainly wouldn’t let them succeed!

  Whoosh!

Oliver’s massive body suddenly swung forward, positioning himself between the monsters and the World Tree. At this moment, Oliver’s body spans nearly two hundred thousand kilometers, only slightly smaller than that World Tree, while those Níemogrs, to Oliver, are each like tiny ants.

These ants, seeing such a colossal creature suddenly appear—and seemingly trying to organize them—can’t help but raise their heads, their tiny skulls looking up at Oliver, their bodies tensing up, appearing extremely nervous, their eyes filled with wariness! There’s no helping it—Oliver is just too powerful. Merely appearing here is enough to make these small creatures feel suffocated and threatened!

“This tree is our prey. Are you sure you want to oppose us? That’s asking for death!”

But to Oliver’s surprise, the leading Níemogr actually speaks a nguage composed of primal runes, threatening Oliver! Even though those smaller, ordinary Níemogrs are utterly terrified of Oliver, this leading monster exudes a strong sense of confidence. His voice carries an air of extreme arrogance and coldness, even ced with a hint of murderous intent, as if he doesn’t take a massive deity like Oliver seriously at all.

This makes Oliver feel a bit puzzled, prompting a closer look at this creature. Many Níemogrs are only at Level 7, but this leader should have reached the level of an 8th-tier deity. Level 8, yet daring to be so arrogant toward a 9th-tier deity—what gives him such confidence? Oliver quickly realizes it’s the pack! Even though Oliver is currently a 9th-tier deity, they, relying on their vast numbers, show no fear of Oliver whatsoever! They’re capable of devouring prey far rger than themselves—they were just chasing down the World Tree.

And that 8th-tier leader can even use primal runes to communicate with Oliver. This alone shows that its intelligence and strength far surpass those of an ordinary deity! That’s courting death? Oliver sneered inwardly, feeling displeasure at the monster’s arrogance and insolence—after all, he was now a rank 9 deity with panel stats far surpassing these Níemogrs. Not to mention, Oliver’s power didn’t rely solely on his panel stats.

Stealing my prey? Chaos Chains skill, activate!

As soon as Oliver unleashed this skill, countless chains made of chaotic energy emerged from the void, slithering like serpents and surging fiercely toward the Níemogrs! In an instant, these chains bound the monsters one by one, locking the surrounding space as if everything were frozen—all the Níemogrs were horrified to find themselves trapped in some sort of swamp, their movements unbearably slow and borious! This caused the once-arrogant eyes of the monsters to reveal fear and panic, and even the rank 8 Níemogr leader could no longer maintain its cold, haughty demeanor!

“You—what kind of skill is this?”

He said angrily, realizing he had encountered a tough opponent—Oliver was clearly different from the other Level 9 deities he had met or even hunted before, far more powerful! But Oliver didn’t answer his question at all; his massive snake tail suddenly swung, smming directly toward them!

  Boom!

The surrounding chaotic space trembled violently, and Oliver’s snake tail, like a whip descending from the heavens, brought the gift of death to these monsters. Wherever his tail swept, those monsters died in droves, reduced to piles of flesh and gore! Ordinary Níemogrs were only Level 7 deities, their strength far too inferior to Oliver’s—a “giant” sughtering ants was simply too easy, especially since Oliver wasn’t an ordinary “giant”!

Seeing his cnsmen dying in rge numbers, the leading Níemogr let out a furious roar. “Damn serpent, do you really think we can’t do anything to you?”

The leading Níemogr’s roar was terrifying and harsh, filled with rage; he suddenly opened his mouth wide, and streams of venom gushed out like a fountain, reeking so badly that in an instant, the chaotic world was filled with a pungent stench—Oliver felt it was like the smell of countless rat corpses rotting in the summer, a stench that assaulted the soul, almost unbearable for him. And it wasn’t just the smell—the venom also possessed an extremely terrifying corrosive power; after being sprayed by it, Oliver’s chaotic chains began to loosen and even break apart.

It had to be said, this leading monster actually had some skill, truly worthy of being a Level 8 deity. In an instant, hundreds of thousands of monsters began to struggle frantically, breaking free from their binding chains with difficulty, like a group of lunatics unshackled from their restraints. Logically speaking, these ordinary lesser monsters were filled with fear of Oliver, but at this moment, under their leader’s roar, they forgot their fear, even abandoning their instinct to survive, charging at Oliver like madmen.

They all opened their mouths wide, their sharp teeth gleaming like bdes, flickering in the darkness with a cold light reminiscent of moonlight. No wonder they were the ancestors of the legendary Níeh?ggr—rumored to have an insanely powerful bite, capable of gnawing at the World Tree itself. The teeth of these creatures were undoubtedly terrifying!

They surged forward like a bck tide, a dense, overwhelming mass that could make anyone with trypophobia scream or faint—this scene even startled the World Tree watching from the sidelines. Clearly, this stirred some unpleasant memories for it. Not long ago, it had been bitten and gravely wounded by these very creatures. In the World Tree’s eyes, this giant serpent that had suddenly appeared was undoubtedly doomed.

“What a pity, this poor serpent—trying to hunt me, only to end up as a feast for the Hogs,” the World Tree thought to itself. But it had clearly misjudged.

Oliver immediately activated his skill—Chaos Defense! Powerful chaotic energy surged forth, forming a thick wall around his serpentine body! The monsters crashed headlong into this wall, producing a series of loud bangs—they grimaced in pain, letting out miserable howls. Yet such difficulties couldn’t stop them. Under their leader’s shrieks and commands, they began tearing at Oliver’s chaotic energy defense wall with their razor-sharp teeth.

These monsters’ teeth were indeed formidable—Oliver’s chaos defense, though strong, quickly developed cracks and gaps under their bites. Crack, crack. The sound of the defense wall breaking echoed incessantly, like the crunching of biscuits. But how could Oliver let them keep gnawing away?

  “Elemental Manipution!”

This was another of his skills! By chanting primal runes, Oliver had long since greatly enhanced the power of his elemental manipution skill. The moment he activated it, the void erupted with countless bolts of lightning, fmes, ice spikes, wind bdes, earthen cones, and light swords—all raining down on the monsters like a storm. In an instant, the monsters’ screams rose and fell as they died in swathes once more!

These elemental energies Oliver summoned through primal runes were terrifyingly potent. If a human mage from millions of years in the future were to cast them, each bolt of lightning or ice spike might rival the most powerful forbidden spells humanity could unleash. And now, Oliver had summoned thousands upon thousands of such forbidden spells in an instant. One can imagine how horrifying the scene in the void was at that moment.

The speed at which these Níemogrs died was staggering, their piercing screams reverberating through the cosmos. “No! How can you wield so many primal runes?!” The leading Níemogr roared in fury, its voice shrill with desperation. It charged at Oliver personally, spraying even more intensely corrosive venom from its gaping maw, trying to halt Oliver’s astonishing elemental barrage.

This creature’s strength was formidable—its venom formed a raging river in the void, threatening to engulf Oliver’s head. But Oliver wouldn’t let it succeed.
