004 Training

To achieve my goal of becoming the strongest, I must start training, right?

I'm training in the body of a samander that resembles a lizard...

Man, I would have preferred training in a human body, but a samander, seriously!

No, no. There's no point in being pessimistic anymore.

At this stage, I must take things positively.

"Alright, let's start our training immediately."

I open the system screen and look at my stats.< Lesser Samander, Level 2 >< Avaible Skills: [Long Tongue - Level 1] >< [Fireball] Required Level 5,[Poison Secretion] Required Level 10 >

Poison Secretion, a newly added skill to the skill set.Despite the appearance of a new skill, my stats remain unchanged.

  < Health Points: 10/10 >< Skill Points: 5/5 >< Speed: 15/15 >

The stats are embarrassing by all measures as someone reincarnated in another world.

But speed, in particur, is higher compared to the rest.Perhaps it's due to the light body, I'm not entirely sure.

Also, it's true that there's a high possibility that I can use fire magic, but I won't succeed anytime soon.Acquiring fire magic and using Fireball requires reaching level 5.Until then, I've decided to train the traditional way.

With this goal in mind, I took my first step with my front feet, then my back feet in succession.

  That was a leap forward.

I thought about testing my new body and figuring out its special capabilities.

I'm not talking about magical abilities or the system. What I mean is experiencing the pure potential of the samander without any helping power.

Hmm. It seems my jumps are extremely high. High enough to evade a ground attack.

With some jumping practice for a few minutes, I got more accustomed to my body and my jumping height increased.

I achieved the highest jump I could imagine.

In fact, I was about to hit the pointed ceiling.

A few more millimeters and I would have lost my second life. That was close.

The positive thing is that I made significant progress in adapting to my body. With some imminent risk.

Anyway, I moved on to the second stage, running.

It's true that I was practicing jumping, but that adaptation came with a significant improvement in walking smoothly.I would take a few preparatory steps and then jump.

But the dilemma was running fast. It's really hard to adapt to a body where you have to move on four limbs. As a result, I fell to the ground after several quick steps.

  "Let's try again."

I fell again. Well... I don't think I'll get used to running in a day or two, I need more practice.

Let's ignore running for a bit and move on to the second stage.

An interesting idea occurred to me and I wanted to try it.

If my limbs were already sticky enough to implement that idea, I would definitely love that body.

I advanced step by step towards the rocky wall.Slowly and nervously...

  Kokuri...

I jumped on the wall in an attempt to "stick" to the wall.

And..." It worked, I'm actually walking on walls."

With astonishment and the gleam of golden eyes, I looked eagerly at my body.

Without magic or any other means, I was able to walk on walls with ease.

Since my body is light and has stickiness, the idea occurred to me, "Why not be a slime" something like that.

Since a slime has a sticky body and can stick anywhere.

I thought about the possibility of success with me too.

  That was a great success.

Now let's raise the bar a little...

As I recall, I have the skill "Long Tongue" avaible. To be honest, I'm not excited about that skill.

  "Long Tongue, huh!"

"As the name suggests, it makes the tongue long, right?"

I can't even imagine how to use it in an experimental battle.

"Well, I don't have the freedom to choose at the moment, so let's try it anyway."

With a lukewarm and unenthusiastic spirit, I opened my mouth and powerfully extended my tongue.

I see my tongue stretching out until it is almost 10 steps long.

This... that's a very long tongue, right?!

So Long Tongue is just as the name implies, it only allows your tongue to extend, right?

I can't imagine myself using it at all.

What in the world, what a ridiculous skill this is!

"I don't want that ability. I want to get Fireball."

But wait a minute, could it be an attack skill?!

Actually, I'm not sure, but... in that case, I'll try asking the system.

  "Hey, are you there?"

< Yes, what are your orders, master? >

"Expin to me how to use Long Tongue."

  < Understood, master >

< The skill [Long Tongue] has another name, the skill [Tongue Extension] or the skill [Tongue Cannon] >

< This skill allows you to turn the tongue into a weapon, mainly used for hunting, and has other uses depending on the circumstances >

< How to use the skill [Long Tongue]:Identify targets and push the tongue with enough force to unch an attack or hunt >

So, you mean it's a versatile skill?!

  < Exactly >

Well. In that case, maybe I'll try more seriously.

I look around and identify my target, I will attack that small rock near the waterfall.

  Target identified, focus... focus.

"Go, my tongue!" I pushed my tongue out forcefully. Directing the blow towards the rock.

I can easily imagine an attack pattern using my avaible skills at the moment.

I created a hole in the middle of the rock. I also got some rock crumbs in my stomach as a reward for my hard work.

  "It tastes disgusting."

The positive thing is that, contrary to my expectations, it turned out that the [Long Tongue] skill is useful, just a little.

And so I started to have fun _ I mean I practiced a little on using the skill.

Only running fast remains. I can now walk with quick steps, but... running is another matter.

Well, it's not like I haven't made any progress today, anyway.

I'll rely on jumping and quick steps alongside the long tongue, for now.

Most importantly, I started to feel hungry.I had bought cup ramen and some extra canned food.

But I haven't had a chance to eat any of it. Now I'm extremely hungry.

There are fish in the waterfall, right?I'll try to catch some food. This will also help me see the fruits of my training.

Killing two birds with one stone, or should I say, this is my first small battle? Just kidding.

To be honest, I'm not good at swimming. When I fell into the waterfall, my body was moving on its own.Maybe that's a survival instinct, or something like that?!

  Anyway, I'll catch some fish.

I jumped into the waterfall, letting my body sink deep, surrounded by a group of colorful fish.

But they all shared the same body shape, regardless of their different colors.

< San Mira Discus Level 1, Skills: [Bubble Prison - Level 1] >

< Red Pigeon Discus Level 1, Skills: [Bubble Prison - Level 1] >

< Blue Diamond Discus Level 5, Skills: [Telepathy - Level 3] [Bubble Prison - Level 4] >< Pigeon Snake Skin Discus Level 4, Skills: [Bubble Prison - Level 3] >

What in the world, some fish have better stats than me.

And I thought I was just going to catch some food. Man, this is more like a battle to the death.

I haven't fully gotten used to my body yet, so I'm not sure which way things will go.

If I get into a fight with them now, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them allying to eliminate me.

I must not be fooled, they are just fish. No doubt about it.They are weak, I agree with you.

At best, they might serve as lunch. But I'm the weakest here, only level 2.

So I must not be conceited.

But this is an emergency, because I'm hungry, simply.

So I have to secure some food at any cost.

First, I must calm down and think of a way to face the group.

I hide behind coral reefs near a group of discus fish while thinking of a pn.

"Companion, what is my chance of survival if I attack those fish all at once?"

< The survival rate will not exceed 30%. >

Hmm. That's bad enough, if I attack them the normal way I probably won't survive.

I hid behind the coral reefs, staring at the colorful fish that swam peacefully in the fresh water.

I had to act smartly, a direct attack would only lead to my quick end.

As I was thinking of a pn, my thoughts went to the food I had bought before I reincarnated in this pce.

Hunger took over me, but I didn't let it blind me to logical calcutions.

Quietly, I moved my tail underwater, drawing small swirls to hide my movements.

If these fish are as smart as their skills suggest, they must rely on a certain pattern of movement, and perhaps even a collective style of defense.

So, the best way avaible is to scatter the flock and hunt them separately.

"Companion, is there a way to hunt one of them without alerting the rest?"

To expand my thinking, I asked the companion, to get better solutions.

< Analyzing the environment... Recommendation: target isoted individuals. >

What? There is an individual of them leaving the group!I haven't seen that yet.

But if that's the case, maybe if I wait a little while it might happen.

I continued to track them and hide behind the coral reefs, being careful to keep them within my sight.

I watched the group a little, and noticed that the Blue Diamond Discus fish of level 5 was sometimes drifting away from the flock, using its higher power to explore the surrounding areas and then return to the group and somehow convey information.

I didn't see them talking specifically, maybe they are exchanging ideas, telepathic conversations, maybe.

Based on what was mentioned in the stats, maybe the Blue Diamond fish uses telepathy.

Anyway, if I can catch it alone, I might have a chance.

A little time passed, the Blue Diamond fish moved, again.

While watching it move away from the group far enough out of their sight.

I crawled slowly, sneaking from behind, before suddenly opening my mouth releasing the Long Tongue skill, to attract the attention of the Blue Diamond Discus fish.

While it was deviating from its path outside the flock, the fish was surprised for a moment, hesitating to swim a great distance, and that's all I needed.

I took off with all the speed I could muster, jumping towards it with my jaws open!

But before I could use the Long Tongue to grab it, it unleashed the skill:

  < [Bubble Prison – Level 4] Activated! >

With the words of the system echoing in my head, bubbles quickly gathered, trapping my body inside an invisible water cage!

I felt the pressure on my limbs suddenly increase, completely hindering my movement.

"Damn it!" I tried to wriggle free, but the bubbles seemed to regenerate whenever I broke one.

The bubbles aren't strong enough to keep me locked inside, each bubble holds me for a second or two.

But at some point, a lot of bubbles spread out at once and merged into rge formations.

The bubbles resulting from the fusion became thick and more disturbing.

I had no ability to escape this prison easily.

And at that moment, the rest of the fish turned around, their cold eyes focused on me.

They must have noticed the absence of their companion and returned to look for it.

It was as I expected... I won't face just one, but a whole flock!

< Combat Analysis: Survival Chances Reduced to 15%. >

  It gets worse...

For God's sake, why am I suffering this hardship just to catch some fish!

  I am already very weak.

But I wasn't ready to give up yet!

The pn has completely failed. If they catch me, I'll die, simply.

In that case, I'll resort to the alternative pn."RUUUUUN."

I flee as fast as I can behind the nearby rocks.

The depth of those rocks extends downwards into the pitch-bck darkness, so deep that the eye cannot see the end.

I don't have time to contempte here, the fish are approaching after regrouping.

I have to scatter them again. I have no other choice.

I go behind a coral reef attached to the nearby rock, hiding as much as possible.

As the group of discus fish passes the rock, I watch the situation and wait for the right opportunity to steal my food.

While I'm hiding and preparing to unch a surprise attack, a voice echoes in my head.

< Experience points have reached the required level, you have obtained the skill [Stealth - Level 1] >

  You're kidding!

I got a skill this fast?!

Finally, a real skill, but I don't have time to examine the instructions now.

I have to focus on what I was doing.

The school of fish is returning to its destination, perhaps they lost interest in me after failing to find me.

The fish is approaching the rock where I'm hiding.

Well, even though I don't know how to use Stealth yet, I have no choice but to try the skill and take the risk.

So, how am I going to use the skill anyway, I have no idea.

Maybe if I imagine the effect of the skill, it will work, right?!

  Okay, let's try...

  "Companion, activate Stealth."

  < Skill [Stealth - Level 1] activated >

My body fades and gradually becomes transparent.

I look at my little fingers, I can actually see through them.

  I have become completely transparent.

The fish reached the rock where I was hiding, the fish passed by me, as if I wasn't there.

  Okay, let's try something.

Using Long Tongue, I aimed at one of the fish.

  < San Mira Discus - Level 1 >

  Attack!

My tongue stuck to the fish, then wrapped around it like a thick rope, I can't see it clearly, but the feeling was enough to predict that.

Followed by a voice in my head.

< San Mira Discus, killed >

There's no doubt about it now, the attack was definitely successful.

I managed to catch my first prey.

I forcefully lift my tongue upwards and push the fish out of the waterfall, it nds above, on the surface.

To be clear, this attack is invisible, using the Stealth skill followed by an attack skill like Long Tongue, a successful duo.

I have confused the group of Discus, they are standing in silence and motionless.

I don't bme them, of course, their companion disappeared for no apparent reason.

Anyway, without further ado, I hurry to complete the work and catch my meal with ease.

I won this unexpected battle, ridiculously.

Finally man, it was a tough battle for a newcomer like me.

And now after all that hardship, my meal is ready.

"What do we have for dinner?"

  Five delicious colorful fish.

They remind me of colorful instant noodle cups, ahh I can't resist anymore.

  "Let's eat"

  I took the first bite.

"Ah, I completely forgot they need to be cooked."

My life, which was dependent on instant food with hot water and a microwave, made me forget that there is food that requires lighting a fire and cooking.

What in the world, the taste is disgusting.

  Very salty, incredibly bitter.

< Obtained the skill [Poison Resistance - Level 1] >

  Resistance to what?!

You're kidding, are the fish really poisonous?!

You should have told me, you stupid companion.

And so I fainted after only one bite.
