Chapter 22

Yuri Alpha knocked on the door to Albedo's office. The Overseer addressed her from the other side and allowed her to enter. She twisted the doorknob and walked into a very spartan room. Everything was in order, and no furniture was out of pce, but still, the space could use a little more fir that spoke of the succubus' personality.

"Mistress Albedo." Yuri Alpha bowed to show her respect for the Overseer. She hadn't seen Albedo much ever since Nazarick was transported, but she had heard of what the succubus had been doing for the tomb ever since the unfortunate events.

Albedo, Demiurge, and Antikythera had all been working hard to fix the problems that came with the transfer. They were all working for the betterment of the tomb and Lord Ainz, while everyone else was stuck in stasis, unable to do much due to a ck of tasks across the board. It frustrated them—they wished to serve their Lord, all of them did. But it was simply not possible as of right now.

"Antikythera and I have a job for you, Yuri." Albedo said the word the dulhan had been wanting to hear, as though the succubus had been reading Yuri's mind. Job. That word caused Yuri Alpha to straighten her back.

"You have heard of Antikythera's efforts in trying to grow a sustainable source for alchemical materials for the tomb, correct?"

"Yes." How could Yuri not have heard of it? It was the only thing the other servants talked about! Out of the three people pioneering the independence of the tomb after leaving Helheim, it was Antikythera's tasks that the servants thought of as the better option. They didn't find it pleasing to work with a bunch of humans like Demiurge did, even if the work involved hurting them.

Antikythera, on the other hand, dealt with animals and pnts. The servants of the first floor did not have much interaction with the lesser beings outside of Nazarick, but they also did plenty of work.

Not that Yuri Alpha, or any other servant for that matter, would not jump at the chance of being useful to Lord Ainz. Even if it meant working with humans, Yuri Alpha was just happy that she would finally have a purpose beyond maintaining the cleanliness of Nazarick.

"Good. Then you should be aware that Antikythera has found a human settlement that he deems appropriate for his future experiments. He will be staying there with you, but he is not going to focus on the same tasks as you are." Albedo pulled out a finely written report and handed it to Yuri Alpha.

On the page were words detailing the potential of locals to possess csses. However low the chances may be, the newly discovered—by Nazarick's standards—"Talent Holders" might possibly be people who were unaware they possessed a css, or more appropriately, an innate profession.

It went on to describe the possibilities and simirities between the spells Nazarick's denizens and the Supreme Beings had found within the Nine Realms and those of a Talent Holder's abilities. The other types of Talent Holders were currently described as nothing more than a descriptor from word of mouth, with only one speaker and a vilge's worth of people agreeing to the cim. It was stated at the end of the page that pursuing the search for other Talent Holders was still worth the investment.

"You wish for me to babysit a human?" Yuri returned the report to Albedo.

"No, that's Antikythera's job." Albedo smirked. "Unless you know how to experiment with a Talent Holder's limits?"

"No, I don't." Yuri Alpha shook her head. She asked more about her new job, "What do you need me for?"

"To watch over the humans. Those filthy creatures are sure to roam about doing... whatever disgusting things it is they do in their day-to-day lives." Albedo spat out the word "human" like it tasted bitter on her tongue. "As their soon-to-be ruler, you will build amicable retionships with them. I find you to be the best candidate among your sisters for this task."

"You are correct in your assumption." Yuri Alpha did not know if it was because Lady Yamaiko designed her to be this way or if this was some sort of trait her creator gifted her, but she was able to tolerate the thought of interacting with those she deemed lesser than herself. And this was in spite of her undead biology giving her a constant hatred for the living. Strangely, she was patient with humans—children especially.

"I know I am." Albedo nodded in confidence. "Once you have a rapport with the local humans, I wish for you to observe them in their natural habitat and write down any possible advantage we can have over their simple minds when we rule them in the far future."

"You want me to give you reports on human behavior?" Yuri Alpha felt like she would be good at that, but she wasn't sure why.

"No, not a single human, but a whole group," Albedo corrected. "And do not worry about Ninya—Antikythera will take care of her during your stay."

Yuri Alpha bowed. "I'll get it done."

"Good!" Albedo pulled out another report—no, this time, it was a set of written instructions for her to follow. "You will rey these instructions to the humans. Sakai made it, and Antikythera has already created the different plots where each type of pnt will be grown on the outskirts of the vilge, so all you have to do is guide the pests. With their simple minds, it should prove hard for you to teach them, but I'm sure they'll come around when they get punished."

"I'll see to it that this gets done." Yuri Alpha did one st bow of respect before leaving Albedo's office. Her first destination, according to the instructions, was the first floor, so she sent a [Message] to Sakai informing her of the situation. A [Gate] opened in front of her, and Yuri stepped in.
