14. Class

Adrian’s first impression of [A-celeratioed] was ‘what a shitty name’, the second one was ‘only a 15% growth increase?’, and now his impression was ‘I love time perception’. Adrian not only became an acquaintance with the [Title] but actively went on date with it. Ignoring the strange analogies, Adrian enjoyed changing his time perception. Not only to swift the wait but also as a form of entertainment combined with a new change of view. Even then, Adrian only used the time perception change at mundane events, he wanted to use it at combat in the near future.

Adrian stopped his train of thought when he saw a stray mantis. “Come here you little bastard!” Adrian cried as he rushed to the monster in order to level up. He forgot that being detected by the enemy would nullify his [Assassinate] skill.

Adrian dropped carefully, but quickly, the rations and the cloaks. Adrian unsheathed the dagger, putting them in front of him while pointing them towards the critter’s neck. The [Archimantis Homicida] also rose his scythes, reaching for Adrian’s weak points.

‘It is time’ Adrian thought as he decided to change his time perception to the one when he was summoned at Mundompio.

The mantis and Adrian’s moves became suddenly slower. Even if Adrian moved slower, he was thinking at the same speed. The time perception combined with the [Battle Timing] skill made a great synergy that induced a slow motion by a factor of two, while Adrian’s body was moving almost at normal speed.

Adrian didn’t even try to block the mantis’ attack, he just feinted his dagger between the monster’s arms, sneaking his weapons like a serpent. The daggers were addressed to the neck, but Adrian moved one in front of his enemy’s eyes to block his vision.

Adrian attempted to cut the neck, but the monster’s keratin armor was sturdier than other [Archimantis Homicida] he had killed. Adrian now was grateful that he decided to block the monster’s vision, and then hacked its eyes. The creature shook in pain at the loss of its eye, but it wasn’t over. Without any delay, Adrian sliced the other eye with one dagger and used [Fast Stab] with the other dagger, right to its heart. An instant later the mantis was lying on the ground with a small cavity in its torso.

“Yes! Finally!” Adrian cried on top of the deceased monster. “Jesus-fucking-Christ why the fuck I was left with one experience point.” Adrian’s celebration was interrupted by a message from the Arcane Record.

“Oh yeah, baby!” Adrian rose his bloodied daggers up to the sky, quintuplicating his celebration spirit. Then the selection was in front of his eyes.

“Oh ho ho ho. This is so cool.” Adrian told himself as he read the class selection interface. “Scout sure has a powerful effect for being a standard class. Rogue, it’s the same but has skill boosts. Will it boost [Assassinate]- wait that would be almost quadruple damage while being hidden. Jeez.” Adrian talked like Dale while thinking of the opportunities of having skill boosts, even if he wasn’t going to pick that class when there were better. “Just because I Maxxed [Celeratio], Shadow Dagger is infinitely better as I don’t need [Destretza] or [Fortuna]. I am curious about the [Shadow] series, could it like the [Tarot] series? And that 50% increase is really juicy.” Adrian stopped to read the three last classes. “Tarot Confidant is useless. I can obtain a [Tarot] card only by being next to Axel or Dale. And there’s only one buff. Velocitas and Time Weaver are another matter, though.” Adrian started to drool while reading carefully the effects of the skills. “Being The Flash and literally receive no damage by collisions or fucking time magic. I mean, there’s no option. I feel like my free will has been removed.” Adrian didn’t notice the fact he could have total control over time perception or even the extremely juicy 100% growth rate increase.

Before instantly picking Time Weaver, Adrian halted and mindfully examined the last phrase of every class. “What does levels out of something mean? Is it the level cap? ‘Cause it looks like.” Adrian meditated about the whole message. “Now that I fix on the requirements, I have to base options just for having Maxxed [Celeratio], while the other classes require certain triggers to be fulfilled. Hmm…” Adrian reflected about this fact. “What does happen if you have reached level 5 but didn’t do any objective? Are you classless? You can’t level up until you meet a certain goal? Do you have a default class? So many questions… neither of them answered.” Adrian sighed. “Well, here goes nothing.” And selected Time Weaver as his class.

After reading that huge Record message, Adrian could only say one thing. “Yes!” And so, the fusion started.
