Val Pov(3rd person point-of-view)
"Fuck....I think i am hit," A soldier holding on to his leg spoke. "It was probably the ice bullets aftereffects from when it hit the ground. I should have been more careful"
Right then and there, a man who bore a beard and mustache quickly hoisted the soldier on to his back right before continuing to walk. He gruffed a bit before answering.
"Seriously, you need medical attention just in case. Do you know where you got hit?"
The soldier groaned in pain before responding. "Yeah...I think its my leg. Thanks Val for helping"
"Dont mention it, just doing all I can to help some people survive"
The soldier nodded before responding, "You think the war will be over soon? I know you had been helping many soldiers that defected from many different factions. What do they say?"
Val's brown eyes quietly drooped as his bck hair was blowing on the wind. "To be frank with you...the war may be ending soon from what I heard...but theres a possibility for a nuclear bomb to drop by the end of the war just to destroy moral to all nations."
The soldiers eyes quietly widened and nodded his head. "So it is true...a nation created a bomb capable of ending 10 countries over. I thought it was a myth. But it seems that the nuclear bomb was also infused with some recent technological and magical developments?"
Val nodded his head grimly. "It appears so. Although I am happy that the war is nearly over, I now got new worries of what will happen after the war"
The soldier once again nodded. "Yeah me too. But nuclear bombs were extremely recent werent they? Maybe the world can at least have a breather just for a bit if the war is over."
Val smiled and chuckled abit. "Yeah that would definitely sound nice. At least let the world breath a little before throwing us in another war. I mean...is that too much to ask for"
The soldier, despite the leg injury, ughed. "Yeah you're right about." As the Soldier stopped ughing and paused for a moment to think. He then started his conversation with a rumor that he hear. "Oh and Val did you hear about the recent destruction of the nation of Vitalia? I heard it was gruesome. Apparently, some rumors are going on that 2 extremely powerful eldritch gods awakened over there and destroyed the nation"
Val listened intently while stunned as he carried the soldier on his back to a nearby settlement. "Wait. The nation got destroyed? I never visited there, but I had heard some of their major developments in medicine and technology. I wanted to go there to study their medicine and what they made, but it seems Ill never get the chance to do it now. When did you hear about this?"
"Apparently, very recently," The soldier replied. "I heard from a beastfolk messenger about the news. There was another rumor that the elves stated that this nation was to be destroyed in their prophecies before the war started. Its some scary stuff man, apparently the nation being destroyed is just a sign that far more darker times will be coming. The eleves apparently stated that the nations death was destiny or some bullshit, but they never foresaw the emergence of 2 eldritch gods." The Soldier scoffed. " Some prophets I tell you, cant even predict eldritch deitys"
"You do realize eldritch deities literally exist outside of time and space and have their own agenda right? Eldritch deities never existed before right?" Val inquired.
The soldier took a moment to think. "Yeah...apparently eldritch dieties existence became known to us about 30 odd years ago. But there has only been one incident in history of their encounter with us: beings of this world. We thought it was a myth...or better yet a fools tale. But I guess when the footage of the 2 deities fighting would convince the world that they truly exist."
Val didnt say anything as he carried the soldier on his back to a snowy settlement. He saw a small short building with a sign on the front dispying a syringe and word: Clinic.
"We're here man." Val opened the door and brought the soldier in a empty hospital cot, ignoring the other patients in the hospital cot who yed there all with injuries of their own. Val gently took off the solider off his back and yed him down on the hospital cot. "rest now, I told a doctor of this clinic that I may come along with a few soldiers. I already paid some money for the treatment." Val quickly then did 5 minutes of massage to the injured leg just to decrease the pain in the soldiers leg.
The soldier sighed a voice of relief. "Thanks Val... really you're the be-"
"VAL!! YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS MAN!"
The soldiers word of thanks then got interrupted by lizardman ,wearing a b coat with a bit of blood on it, running towards Val. A lizard man who is a doctor around the settlement. "Val....Val....the war...war..." The lizardman took a heavy breather before responding. "The nation of tenna had just waved the white fg"
Val and the soldier stared at the lizardman and before the lizardman could say anymore, Val interrupts. "Wait, the nation of tenna has given up on the war!?"
The lizardmans scaled lips curled into a rare, toothy grin, the sharp edges softened by an unexpected warmth. "Yeah...that means the treaty will start and the war of 9 years will then be officially over!"
Upon mention of this, the injured men of the clinic on their beds all let out a collective sigh of happiness and relief that the war is just about over.
Val especially sat on the ground as if the weight of the news had finally hit him as he yed his back on the clinic walls. "It....really is over? Thank god."
The lizardman doctor helped Val get to his feet slowly as the lizardman let out a toothy gtin. "Yeah its over, please take rest Val. You already have used your massage tenchiques all night just to give comfort and good blood circution to the injured while the nurses and our doctors were at rest. And you cant say no in this situation. Doctors orders Val."
As Val was going to protest, the soldier Val had carried on his back started talking. "Look man, I know you want to do more in helping us, but I think it would give us some relief that you yourself had rest. And we will force you to rest. Heck, the whole clinic and settlement here will make you sleep forcefully.
Val let out a sigh and grumbled. "Fine, Fine."
As the lizardman held Vals shoulder and dragged him to a quiet resting room with abit of cold air coming in from the outside to make Val comfortable. "Sleep Val"
Val yed down on the bed and remained quiet, not knowing he had already fallen asleep. Though he hadn't been aware of his own exhaustion, it had been pin for everyone else to see.
For the first time in a long time, Val finally allowed himself to sleep for as long as he could and thankful for the news that the war was finally coming to an end.
