38. Snagging the Loot!

  Eye of the Law!

Once he’s in the endless fire sea, Oliver’s massive snake body zips through the flames. His eyes glow with piercing runes.

Finding a Chaos Ember in this mess of fire? Not easy.

Most deities can’t pull it off.

But Oliver’s got the Eye of the Law. He can spot the difference between regular flames and high-density fire element clusters no problem.

Sure enough, he zeroes in on a rich fire-element zone fast. After some hunting, he actually finds the legendary Chaos Embers.

And not just one—three of ‘em!

“Looks like these Chaos Embers aren’t as hard to find as those regular deities make out.”

Oliver’s stoked. He opens his big mouth, ready to suck those embers down.

Three’s nowhere near enough for him. To get a solid grip on fire elements—boost his strength big, maybe even level up—he figures he needs ten, maybe dozens.

  “Hm?”

But right then, a twinge of alarm hits him. He senses deity vibes popping up nearby.

  Boom!

The surrounding flames get blasted aside by these deities’ power, crackling with fiery explosions.

Then Oliver sees it—a deity about 800,000 kilometers long, looking like a slime-human hybrid, steps out.

This thing’s all crimson like flames, with little fire tongues licking at its edges. In this fire sea, you’d never spot it unless it wanted you to.

And it’s not alone. A whole slew of fire slimes pop up behind it!

Their shapes vary—some like rats, some snakes, some tigers or lions. All weird and wild, every kind you can think of.

Sure, they look different, but their bodies are made of the same stuff. Gotta be from the same bloodline.

  A deity family.

That’s a new thing popping up lately. Like the Níemogrs—they’re kinda a family too.

But Níemogrs are so numerous, “race” fits better.

  “Hey, friend,”

The slime-human locks eyes with Oliver, speaking in a primal rune language that buzzes loud, making the nearby fire sea quake.

“I’ve had my eye on these Chaos Embers for ages. I was about to grab ‘em, and you swoop in and snatch ‘em. You think that’s fair?”

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

It stares at the embers in front of Oliver, voice cold and greedy.

Truth is, it wanted to just take them outright. But Oliver’s size—nearly 1 million kilometers—gives it pause.

It figures its clan could beat him, but it’d cost them big.

So why not flex some muscle and scare this snake off instead?

Its icy words drop, and the slime army behind it starts flexing—literally. They thrash around, spewing terrifying flames that shoot 100,000 kilometers higher than the fire sea’s own, radiating badass vibes.

But Oliver—scared of them? Buying their threat?

  “Get lost, or die!”

Oliver’s snake mouth opens, spitting cold words with zero room for talk.

That makes the slime-human’s face twist.

“You sure you wanna make enemies of us? The weakest in our Autumn family’s level 10, and me? I’m level 13!”

It brags, glaring at Oliver with killing intent pouring out.

Thing is, the second it showed up, Oliver already checked its stats.

  Name: Flame Autumn - Heman

  Race: Deity

  Deity Rating: 13

  Attributes:

  Defense: 45,400

  Strength: 46,500

  Chaos Power: 44,500

  Soul Power: 32,000

  Skills: Unknown

  Possessions: Unknown

Level 13, same as Oliver, but its stat panel’s way weaker.

Oliver’s got a ton of rare primal runes under his belt—same-level deities rarely match him!

Even with its whole clan, they’re just snacks to him.

“Perfect—I’m short on chaos energy. You’ll all be my food!”

  Oliver says flat-out.

He needs energy to level up, and these guys are begging to be served up. Awesome.

  “You’re asking for it!”

The slime-human roars, its voice shaking the fire sea around them—scary stuff.

“I was gonna let you live, but now you’re dead meat, snake!”

It makes up its mind then and there to kill this snake, no matter the cost.

Not just ‘cause Oliver’s words pissed it off—Chaos Embers are a big deal to these fire slime deities.

  Three of ‘em!

Swallow enough, and its power could skyrocket—maybe even forge an S-tier item with them.

  An S-tier item!

  That’s a once-in-a-lifetime score—gotta make it happen.

This snake’s blocking its big break? Only one option: kill it.

“What are you waiting for? Come out—let’s kill this snake together!”

  The fire slime suddenly bellows.

With its massive roar, the fire sea churns again. This time, a bunch of outsider deities pop up.

The fire slime’s probably a native to this Chaos Fire Sea.

These newbies? Their power’s got nothing to do with fire—they’re treasure hunters from the water palace.

“Let’s take down this snake together. We’ll split the Chaos Embers by strength after!”

  The fire slime shouts.

“Oh, called in some backup, huh.”

Oliver’s eyes narrow, scanning the stats of these new deities.

They’re no slouches—three, maybe four, are level 13!

First to catch his eye is a giant armored bull-head, rocking the metal primal rune. Its body’s all gleaming metal, sharp as hell—horns like knives, joints sprouting dagger-like blades.

At 500,000 kilometers, it’s smaller than most level 13s.

But its stat panel’s the strongest—hovering near 60,000 across the board, just shy of Oliver’s 70,000!

Next up, a spider grabs his attention. Can’t tell what primal rune it’s got, but its stats hit 50,000 too.
