Beep! Beep!

  I open my eyes very begrudgingly and I look around and see the television still on even though I was asleep. What was on the television was the late night show and the special guest are my favorite task force and they are my idols because they fuel me to keep going even though I don't have wings like them.

  As I wake up and sit on the edge of my bed I still have sleep in my eyes and I stumble on the cardboard wings I made when I was six years old I gently kick them under the bed and as I am standing looking at the tv I realize time is slipping as I have places to be but don't care because it's the task force. I sit back down on the edge of my bed and getting lost in the highlight reels and the awesome catchphrases and funny punch lines.

  I sit there totally interested and invested as the lights from the TV reflect my eyes and in my mind I can only think about what if I was in the group and they say there with making cool punch lines and one liners with there blonde hair and big and healthy physiques but one catches my eye his name is Dan Roberts and he has been my favorite since I was a young boy.

  As I sit there totally invested by what I am consuming my aunt who is comes through the door and says "hey dude it's time to turn off the television and go to school"

  As she says that sentence I snap back to reality and I stand up and grab my pants and stumble once again on my cardboard wings and I put on my jeans and button them up as I hear my hero Dan Roberts blasting through the room. I stagger and scramble to find a shirt I look around and the only shirt I see insight is the one winged force i put it on over my head feeling the pride and heaviness and what it means to go forward even though you have every odd against you.

  I grab my yellow book bag that is sitting in the corner from a long day before and the bag that I've had for years now yes it is beaten up and has holes in it but I guess I take this going forward against every odd thing a bit to far eh?

  I turn off the television but as I do I make sure to get every bit of it as I do and the time hits nine o'clock and by this point I know I'm late for class.

  I turn off the tv and I am met with the silence of the room and I grab my electronic devices and I put on my headphones.

  I go out of the room and head down the steps and I see my grandma who is sitting at the table with her favorite daytime TV shows on and I see the bills on the table as well I say "see you later grandma" she says with a blank face and a time that has lost all hope "yeah you to".

  I open the door and I walk out with my headphones on and playing my favorite music and I look up and see the winged people on the floating islands above and I think to myself "wow so lucky". I run to the train as it almost pulls off and I hop on as the doors are closing and the door clips my bookbag but I still somehow manage to make it on.

  As I enter the train I am met with mean mugs and as I look around and see the people the conductor says "how are you?" With a warm smile and I nod catching my breath and I take a seat next to guy who smells and I kind of cover my nose and he just is there and I wonder how long he's been on this train. I am also seated next to guy who is on a phone call with speaker on and I turn my music louder.

  As I have the noise drowned out by the headphones I look out the window and I see moving vehicles with people inside and wishing I could've been in there getting served by robots instead of being in this smelly bus.

  The train comes to a holt and I stand up and dash off as I am totally late for class.

  I enter the school and I am warmly greeted by staff and they nod and I just walk by and I run to class as my bag draped over my shoulder is bouncing up and down as i move.

  I make my way into the class and it is second period biology and I come into the class and open the door and the teacher Mr. Yulik stops teaching and the class stops and turns around and looks at me and I am frozen and I stop to pause my music and Mr. Yulik says "join us you've joined at the perfect time" he goes into talking about biology of different animals and different amount the stars and as he speaks I fiddle on the paper and I am barely listening.

  Then the bell rings as the teacher is cut off the class stands up and I am late to standup because I have to put on my music and wait for everyone to clear my row.

  The teacher Mr Yulik says "hey Nathan can I have a word with you for one second" I make my way towards him in the front of the class and he says "you need to do better and get those grades up before you face retention and wont graduate" I feel a weight in my chest and but at the same time I don't even know what I'm going to do with my life after highschool. So I nod and walk away and blast my music in my ears to tune out the noise. See I head out into the hallway and I am grabbed by the the school bully and he pulls my hoodie strings and he then says "see you at graduation Mr task force" as he mocks my shirt.

  Chapter Two: Wings of the Bloodline

  I make it back home after a long day and I open the door and I see my grandma sitting still watching TV at the table and she still has bills scattered across the table and everything looks a little cleaner around. As I greet my grandma with a wave my aunt pulls into the driveway after a long day at the restaurant and we both arrive and she comes in still in her work attire and she goes straight to her room and takes a nap. See I do the same idea and I come in and I throw my bag in the chair across the room and I go back in the bed and I put on the cartoon that the task force made about themselves and as it is playing I do go to sleep.

  After two hours I wake up and the sun is setting through my window and I wake up with a dry mouth and feeling a bit hungry and I head out of the bed and I go down stairs and I am met with my aunt who is cooking left over spaghetti and as she stands over the stove she scans my shirt and says "you know that stuff is for kids right?" I really "well I don't even care because the act to go forward even though you're tired speaks to who you are as a person"

  I head outside and I look at the floating islands above and I wonder what they'd be like to live on.

  As I am looking at the floating islands a little girl comes from playing ball in the middle of the road and I smile as she peeps my shirt and waves and a car comes and I dash with the energy I have left over and tackle the girl out of the way and the car keeps moving as the girl is safe.

  And I ask the girl if she's ok she nods and head back inside as her parents thank me.

  As I begin to stand I feel a sharp pain come out of my back I begin to groan and I begin to kneel down as the the pain is sharper but also feels natural and then I take off my shirt and then angel wings come out of my back and I try my best to hide it because I don't even know how to handle this I go back inside and try to cut the off and burn them off but they don't go. My aunt as she stands over the stove she says "holy fucking shit" and I run upstairs and into my room and lock the door and decide not to go out because I'm not sure the outside world will react to me any more.

  After being locked in my room for the past seven days I become viral and also along with that the school has been calling my aunt and she is worried about me and every time she knocks on my door I tell her everything is fine.

  After going viral from saving that girl and growing angel wings I am getting many calls from people that would've never reached out to me in the first place and they are blowing me up on messaging apps.

  As I am scrolling through the phone I hear knocks at my door and I say who is it even though my first instinct is to ignore it see but the doorknocks sound like there from my grandma and she says hey I have an offer letter from this university called task force university and i quickly go and open the door and receive the letter and i open the letter as the following lines are stated "we've noticed great heroism from you and great quality of everything we stand for we'd like to give you the opportunity to come join us at the task force university and showcase what you have.

  I am ecstatic because this is everything I ever wanted and I am one step closer to joining the group that I idolized my entire life.

  I leap and share the news with my aunt and grandma they get excited as well and I go back into my room and I turn on the TV and skim through the channels and I see my biology teacher as he is on the news for discussing some groundbreaking new discovery about a new DNA gene found in his studies and I don't understand any of it so I just turn it to my favorite channel and that's the task force channel and they have musicals and songs going across the TV as they are the biggest stars ever.

  The next day I wake up with a new sense of vigor and I don't have to go to school anymore and I get to attend a fabled university.

  I put on my clothes with a sense of vigor and excitement and what I do is I put on my clothes and shower and I didn't put on my shirt as my angel wings flutter wide now the only thing I need to do is get used to controlling them. I stand in the middle of the road and my wings flap and I don't manage to go into the sky and I go inches away from the floating islands and then I come falling down and as I come crashing down one of the task force angels come and save me as and carry me onto the floating islands and I dust myself off while scanning the place and I see rainbows and high buildings and grassy plains and then I walk the grassy plains and look to the people around as they have wings just like mine and I walk the streets and I see the university im supposed to be attending and I walk inside and do put in a shirt and cover my angel wings for a bit as they peak out in the bottom.

  I enter and I am told to sit in a waiting room and I sit and observe and I quickly realize I am the oldest person here and I as I am surrounded by blonde haired children just like the people who are fighting for the same spot I am.

  After some time we are all called into a room to showcase our skills and we are asked to stand on top of high floating pedestals and I go on and there are people flying like they grew wings at birth and me not even a week ago. As I make my way to the top of the pedestal I am mocked for being the oldest person here and I try to not let those people words impact me and I jump from the fly pedestal and I crash on the ground below and my wings are the only thing that saved me and the entire class is laughing and I make my way out knowing I already failed.

  I head out into the hallway and I wander around for a second before finding a room labeled access to the winged tasked force and I enter curiously and with a part of me wanting to make this day better by wanting to meet my heroes.

  As I open the door I am met with a few members of the task force passed out on tables and alcohol all over the place and drugs scattered all over the place and in the background there is there hit song "baby got wings".

  I run out of the university and I can't believe what I just saw as I face palm myself.

  Chapter Three: The Girl From Nowhere

  I make my way from the university and I sit in the edge of the floating island looking below at the shadow lands and I am reminded of what was before all of this and what was promised and all the voices that went through my head at the testing area and I decided to prove them all wrong in this moment by using my wings to suddenly delve into the ground below and I spin down as and my wings don't catch wind.

  I land on a moving train and it stops at the next location and I crawl off the top of the train and I make my way through an alley and spin around my shoulder to get a feeling again.

  I am stopped by voice coming from somewhere in the alley saying "you know the task force is full is bullshit right" I turn around and I am met with a young lady who is on top of a trashcan and she has mechanical gliders I say "what do you mean?"I say with a raised eyebrow and she says you seem to not understand you want to be their best kept secret but I am already their most kept secret" I shake some feeling back into my arms and she tossed me some flies on the task force and how the leader Dan Roberts did horrible things to this lady as she was a young one. I am shocked but it to blown away as I just saw all them with drug usage.

  "That's right" she said "I'm still recovering from the trauma as these "heroes" get there mishaps swept under the rug.

  "Still want to join?"

  I stand there scanning through the papers and I am bewildered and I say "n..no not at all oh my god"

  She says after a few minutes"I've been wanting to take them down the longest now and now that you guys are apart of this force or something like that we can take them down"

  I say "oh yeah for sure"

  "Can I hold into this flie for a while to expose it?"

  "Only if you promise me justice"

  I nod and walk away before turning away and saying "hey never got your name?"

  She says with a smirk "my names nyra"

  As I begin to walk away I hear her say "don't worry I already know your name is Nathan" I turn around and say how did you know that and she has disappeared.

  I run onto a roof top and I look to the ground below and take a few steps back and a few breaths and I run and hop off and flapping my wings through the air and holding the information and I fly it to the most near news studio and I take it inside and show it to the camera.

  Next it's local news then becomes worldwide news.

  Chapter Four: The Falling Star

  I go back into the alley and the girl is there waiting for me and we meet face to face

  For a few seconds she stands strong then she collapses in my arms and cries and she says "thank you so much for doing that" and I so "no problem, I'm sorry you had to endure that" as I hug her back.

  Chapter Five: The Hidden Island

  As there is a new day and nyra Dan walk around with feeling different sunlight in her skin and she doesn't smile to much.

  I pick up a news paper that has words and rumors of a island where people with psychic powers exist and there may be secrets hiding there.

  I look to nyra and say "well time for a new adventure eh?"

  Chapter Six: Feathers and Fangs

  We land in a garden and there is trees and tombstones around and all I spot my old professor me Yulik sitting in the garden asche has his eyes closed

  I approach him as he sits there and I say "hey I saw your new discovery I thought it was pretty cool"

  He continues to sit there and his eyes open up and his eyes are red and reveals as he begins to stand "Ive grown tired of seeing people grow beyond him and I have decided to make myself grow into an apex predator and grow into what's most important"

  He grows wings that are black and are opposite of mine and he flies up and I do as well and throw punches and I do as well and he begins to crash fly me into the water and try to drown me but I kick him off and he tossed me into a tree and groan and nyra shoots her mechanical gliders into him and he passed out and I toss him into the water and then roll him.

  Chapter Seven: Broken Halos

  I make my way back into the city and I am celebrates and people come up to me and celebrate and holme me up and nyra sit on the side and I wink at her as she stands over on the side and she nods and walks away. I fly up and the cities below and above want to celebrate and they are playing loud music.

  Chapter Eight: The Calling Beyond

  As I am being celebrated I decide to fly into the sky so high and I get an encrypted message from the stars and next thing I know I am onboard a spaceship it's the most successful space team ever known as the Galactic Dominion and I am surrounded by people from pockets of space and I look ahead and it is a man who lead this place Tim o'hearn and he says "welcome"
