Chapter 3: duel part 2

  Seamless stance.

This is the main buff skill that my character Naomi has.

The main attribute of this skill is to move like the water, not wasting a single energy, bancing the defence and attacking prowess.

Of course, there are also fire, earth, and wind styles,

It's a very versatile skill that unlocks a lot of overpowered moveset, but I still can't manifest those since my base stats are pretty low.

Even with that, I'm pretty confident that I would win this match.

"Why did you lower your guard?"

Elfin asked, confused, but also tense.

I raised my eyebrow to her question.

Hmm, in a normal swordsman's perspective, lowering ones stance means that I'm underestimating them. This could also mean that I do not think highly of them, which might be the reason why she asked.

In short, I think she felt offended.

"Don't misunderstand, I'm not going easy on you."

To that, she nodded and also prepared a thrusting stance.

A good choice, since at the end of the day, I'm still lowering my sword.

  [Godspeed]

In an instant, she blinked towards me at lightning fast speeds, breaking the sound barrier and making a sonic boom.

I barely managed to catch up, dodging her initial sword thrust just in a nick of time.

Before she could retract her sword, I swung mine upwards targeting her body.

She dashed backwards but I didn't let the momentum of my sword go to waste.

I followed her movements, garnering enough strength to make my sword fall towards her.

She then blocked it with ease, but I followed up with another full swing rotating my body.

There starts a complex exchanges of parries, counters, and attacks, fully making our encounter a stalemate.

No, I have the upper edge.

My strikes are heavy enough that her whole body would react to it, and her sword thrusts, albeit fast, are weak.

She seems to have noticed this and tried to back off but it was too te.

She got caught off guard, letting one of my sword strike get through her defences.

She stumbles down and I quickly disarmed her.

  "I win."

I said after pointing my sword towards her neck.

  "Match's over: winner, Levon Constantine!"

  I sighed internally.

Who would've thought that I would have to show my skill right at the first day? Not me at least.

I offered my hand to her and thankfully, she accepted it.

"What kind of swordsmanship is that?"

She asked immediately, not even minding the fact that she lost earlier.

Does she have any pride? Well, considering her aloof behaviour, I guess so.

Now, onto the topic, swordsmanship huh?..

"All I know is that a student shouldn't know it," our teacher intervines us. "Levon, we have something to talk about."

He said, leading the way outside.

Wait, does he know something about this technique?

I followed him, leaving Elfin behind.

Reaching the hallway, he immediately asked.

  "Where did you learn that?"

  "Pardon?"

  "That technique you used."

Hmm, I have to think of an excuse then.

I thought this swordsmanship was known enough that people wouldn't instantly connect me to one of the 7 heroes.

I guess my thoughts were clearly mistaken.

  "It's self thought."

This is the only excuse that I came up with that short amount of time.

"You think I would believe that?"

Oh wow, he's getting angry all over the sudden. Was it really that big of a deal? Noted.

  "Yeah," I retaliated.

A few seconds passed by with neither of us talking. Honestly, with my current stats, he can manhandle me. But I doubt that would happen.

"Sigh. If you don't want to tell me it's fine. But refrain from using that stance from now on got it?"

Wait, he was talking about the stance? No wonder he got angry, I kinda forgot about it too.

It is an SS- rank skill after all.

I nodded at his warnings and left the hallway to continue my spar with Elfin. This subject is 2 hours long after all.

  ***

  That kid, he's not normal.

In the 40 years of my life, that was the first time I saw that kind of technique.

It's not really the pinnacle, but it's close.

In the modern world, there are 3 main swords styles to choose from, but that was not always the case.

200 years ago, the st recorded practitioner of this perished, and it just so happened to be one of the great heroes who defeated the demon king.

Is he one of the descendants of the heroes?

It was stated that the hero who mastered the art of the sword never had an offspring nor a disciple.

But what if, what if that was false?

Did she managed to pass down her swordsmanship to other people?

Too many questions, too little answers.

"Sigh, I won't write this to my paperwork, too time consuming."

Kid, thank me for not snitching you out.

  ***

After that Private meeting with my teacher Gustaf, Elfin and I continued our sparring 2 hours. This time, I refrained from using my stance.

  *Cng cng*

The sound of swords cshing echoes throughout the room.

Both of us were trying our hardest to overpower one another, but as, she gained the upper hand.

  "I win."

She announced, pointing her rapier towards my neck, mirroring our first duel.

Honestly, I already predicted this result.

Without seamless stance, I do not have enough capabilities to overwhelm her. While yes, I have Naomi's techniques, but that doesn't cover my inexperience well enough.

I was a normal man before transporting here after all.

It's like memorising the content of a book without understanding it.

  "Sigh, you got me there."

  "I just got lucky."

Yeah yeah, you won 18 fights already, all of that wins are just lucky I get it.

"Swordsmanship css is over, proceed to your next css."

"Oh, that's my cue," I excimed. "time to go to history css I guess. See ya Elfin."

  She nodded.

She's really not talkative huh? She might even hate conversations, I guess I'll limit my interactions with her to the bare minimum then.

I think she is also a part of the 5 great families? That did not exist 200 years ago so I'm kind of curious what that title actually means.

Anyways onto the next css then.
