Bubba awakens on a forerunner shield world with his bug out survival gear and atv. Unknown to him, many people and factions will or already have arrived to this world.
Bubba, a human survivor, is equipped for long-term survival in challenging environments. His gear includes a rugged Survival ATV, two Glocks, a rifle, water supplies, a water filter, solar charger, phone, and various other survival and camping equipment. He also has tinted glasses for protection.
He finds himself in the Liminal Nexus, a Forerunner shield world that serves as a hub for portal networks connecting multiple worlds. The interior of this hollow world resembles a lush garden, with similar environments existing on its outside surface. His Survival ATV is parked nearby, loaded with his essential supplies.
Nearby on the ground lies a strong young man with white hair and light armor. He's just waking up as well. The air is thick with the scent of growing things and something else.
The white-haired man stirs, his light armor catching the filtered sunlight as he sits up. His eyes focus on Bubba, then on the ATV and gear. “What's going on? Where are we? What is that?” Asks bell.
Bubba blinks, taking in the strange scene around him. "I'm not sure exactly where we are,
This looks like a forerunner shield world if those Pires in the distance are what I think they are. I don't know why we're here. I'm Bubba"
"Bell. Bell Cranell," the white-haired man says, his brow furrowed. "What are you talking about? Forerunners? I've never heard of them." He gets to his feet, brushing off his light armor. "I don't understand what's going on. The last thing I remember is being in Orario. Did you... bring me here somehow? With that machine?" Bell gestures towards the Survival ATV, looking at it warily. "What is it? What can it do? I need to get back home to Orario. Can it take me back?"
Bubba- "I've got nothing better to do, we can help each other find our way back I suppose. I'm not responsible here, I'm just as confused as you are sadly"
Bell's face shows relief at his offer, though his posture remains tense. "Thank you. I appreciate the help. I just need to get back to my friends, to my family. They'll be worried sick."
He looks around at the alien structures looming above, then back to Bubba. Bell says, "But you know what that structure is?"
Bubba looked up at the ancient, towering structures surrounding them and nodded slowly.
"Yeah... I think this might be one of the old Forerunner shield worlds, from a distant future. Some kind of giant, hollow world covered in an artificial biosphere, with an even bigger 'garden' on the inside. The only thing I recognize for sure are those spire-like things poking up - they're like massive power nodes or something similar." Bubba scratched his head and looked around.
"I'm really not sure why we're here though. My ATV, the gear - it's all stuff I use for long term survival in nasty conditions. It's not for hopping universes or whatever this is.
Bell frowns, his brow creasing as he tries to process his words. "Forerunners? Shield worlds? I've never heard of any of this. Are you saying this is some kind of... alien place? From the future?” He takes a step back, glancing around at the towering structures with a mix of awe and unease. "And you're saying you didn't bring me here on purpose? That we both just... ended up here somehow?" Bell's hand drifts to the hilt of a sword at his hip, though he doesn't draw it. "I don't like this. Something feels... wrong. Off. Like the air is too thick, too heavy."
Bubba- "Take a chill pill man. I didn't ask to be here either. Maybe this is happening to lots of people. The only way to know is to get to that spire"
Bell takes a deep breath, his hand falling away from his sword. "You're right. Panicking won't help anything. We should check out that spire, like you said." He looks back at the Survival ATV. What is that exactly?"
Bubba- "It's an atv, it moves with fuel and can carry things"
Bell nods slowly, still eyeing the ATV with a mix of curiosity and wariness. "I see. It looks... sturdy. Reliable. Like it could handle rough terrain and harsh conditions." He glances back at bubba, a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "I suppose that's a good thing, given where we seem to have ended up." The white-haired man takes a step closer to the ATV, reaching out to run his fingers along the frame. "I don't suppose it has any kind of... navigation system? Something that could help us figure out where we are and how to get back home?" Bell asks hopefully.
Bubba- "It did, but it won't work here sadly. Hop on, sitting here won't help us."
Bell hesitates for a moment, then nods and climbs onto the ATV behind him. "I've never ridden one of these before. It's... different from the animals we use in Orario." He grips the frame tightly as you start the engine, the ATV rumbling to life beneath them both. "Where exactly are we going? To that spire you mentioned earlier?" Bell asks, his words nearly lost in the ATV's noise. Bubba nods and starts moving, the ATV's tires crunching over the alien soil as they head towards the towering structure in the distance. The land is grassy plains and rolling hills with ruined portals and ancient debris littered about.
Bubba- "Yes sir exactly"
Bell nods, his grip tightening on the ATV's frame as they pick up speed. "I understand. I'm just... this is all so strange. So foreign." He's quiet for a moment, then asks, "What do you think we'll find there? Do you think there might be answers about how we got here? Or how to get back home?" The ATV's engine rumbles beneath them both, the ancient spire growing larger as they approach. Bell's white hair whips in the wind, and he leans slightly closer to Bubba’s back, his armor pressing against him.
"Wait can you hear that?" The sound of explosions could be heard over the hills near a cliff and a spike of ice flew through the air The ATV slows as the sound of battle grows closer, and Bell tenses, his hand moving to his sword hilt. "We should investigate. Someone might need help."
The atv slowly peaks over a hill tip to find a stunning scene. A giant fantasy mansion stood in front of the cliff, with gardens as its front yard, and a driveway to the large doors. Several figures Bubba knew were fighting prometheans from halo. It was Subaru. Emilia, Rem, Ram, Crusch, Wilhelm, Felix, Garfiel, Otto, Roswall, Beatrice, and Julius fighting prometheans from the Halo franchise. There were dozens of them fighting with subaru taking cover behind a fallen tree. He looks our way and has to do a double take, wondering what and who Bubba and Bell were as they sat on the atv, the engine still rumbling as the two of them stare at the massive battle unfolding before them.
Bell's hand tightens on his sword, his knuckles white as he sees the chaos of the fight. "By the gods..." he breathes, awe and fear evident in his words.
Subaru gets distracted by the battle at hand.
Bubba- "Bell, what do you say we help these people? You still down?"
Bell's face sets in a firm line, his hand still gripping his sword. "Of course. We can't just stand by while people are in danger. I'll help." He climbs off the ATV, drawing his sword with a soft *snik* of steel. "But we should be careful. We don't know what's going on here, or what we're dealing with. And I'm not used to fighting like this."
The battle rages on, with Subaru and the others engaging the Prometheans in an intense melee. The clash of steel against metal and energy weapons fills the air, along with the screams of combat. "We should split up," Bell suggests.
Bubba- "Stay close to someone, these things teleport. I'm going to drive the atv in circles through them and fire my rifle at them. Watch out for those magic spells they're throwing around"
Bell nods, his grip tightening on his sword. "Understood. I'll stay close to the others and watch for those metal monsters. Be careful out there!" With that, he rushes off to join the fray, his white hair whipping behind him as he charges into the battle.
Bubba revs the ATV's engine and takes off, weaving through the chaos of the battlefield. The machine roars as he circles the Prometheans, his rifle barking as he fires at the alien creatures. They whirl and teleport, trying to evade his shots, but he manages to take a few down, their bodies crumpling to the ground and composing.
Subaru and the others are still locked in their fierce battle, the clangor of their weapons ringing out alongside the staccato blasts from the Prometheans' energy weapons. Bell ducks and weaves, his blade flashing as he engages the creatures. He catches a glimpse of Subaru, pinned down behind a fallen tree, firing a promethean rifle wildly at the approaching Prometheans. "Hold on!" Bell shouts, redoubling his efforts to reach the desperate man. As he slides past a promethean knight he manages to stab the one bearing down on Subaru in the back. The creature crumples, its armor smoking as it falls.
"Thanks," Subaru gasps, reloading his rifle. "Who are you? How did you get here?" He fires again, taking down another Promethean.
Bell doesn't have time to answer as more of the creatures teleport in, surrounding them. "We're in the same boat as you, I think. We just woke up here and found this battle." He parries a Promethean's energy blade, the clash of metal echoing across the battlefield.
Subaru nods grimly, firing his rifle again. "Whoever you are, I'm glad you're here. We're outnumbered and running out of options." He ducks as a Promethean's shot goes wide, the energy bolt impacting the ground with a thunderous boom.
The battle rages on, with Bell and the others still engaged in fierce combat. The ATV continues to circle the battlefield, providing both cover and a mobile firing platform. The sounds of the battle echo across the landscape, mingling with the screams of combat and the thunderous explosions.
Felix approaches them, "My master Crusch-Sama has ordered me to provide medical assistance." He kneels beside Subaru, quickly tending to his wounds. "You're lucky this one didn't hit you directly. The energy from these weapons is quite volatile"
The ATV continues circling the battlefield as more Prometheans teleport in, surrounding Bell, Subaru, and the others. Bell moves to guard the group as Wilhelm and Beatrice provide covering fire from different directions, while Ram and Julius launch devastating spells from afar. The clamor of the battle is intense, with explosions and gunfire echoing across the ancient ruins. Bubba's rifle cracks through the chaos, each shot ringing out as he continues to harass the enemy with precise, sustained fire.
Suddenly the call is made by ram to retreat. As they do so Roswall finishes a mighty spell that engulfs the remaining Prometheans in flame, turning them to embers and ending the battle. As the flames die down, the battlefield is left in a smoldering silence, the air thick with the acrid scent of burned metal and the faint smell of ozone. The group, now including Bell, catches their breath, weapons lowered but still at the ready. Subaru leans against a tree, his breath coming in ragged gasps, while Bell stands guard, his eyes scanning the area for any remaining threats. The others gather around, their faces etched with exhaustion and relief.
Wilhelm, his suit torn and scorched, approaches Bubba as he dismounts from the ATV, his voice gruff but grateful. "That was close. Your help was invaluable." He extends a hand, his grip firm and steady.
"Bubba and it's no trouble." He scratched the back of my head and smiled."
Wilhelm's stern features crack into a wry smile. "Bubba? That's quite the name for a survivalist. Though I suppose it fits." He straightens his tie, now partially singed. "I'm Wilhelm Van Astrea. You've certainly proved your mettle out there." He glances around at the smoking battlefield and the remaining Prometheans. "I fear this is only the beginning. Those constructs won't give up so easily."
Bubba- "Don't be so sure, there's a whole planet out here and there's probably more people stranded here. I'm starting to think this place is some kind of portal nexus or hub, maybe it's malfunctioning. By the way, could you take you to that man?" He points to Subaru
Wilhelm's eyes narrow as he considers his words. "A portal nexus? That's... troubling. If that's the case, we need to find a way to shut it down before more people get pulled in." He turns to look at Subaru, who's still catching his breath. Wilhelm nods, understanding your request. "Of course, I'll take you to him. Let's see what he knows about this place." He leads Bubba through the smoldering battlefield, the crunch of metal and ash underfoot the only sound aside from the distant crackle of dying flames.
Subaru looks up as they approach, his eyes weary but alert. He pushes himself up from the tree, wincing slightly as he does so. "Who are you?" he asks, his voice hoarse from the battle. He's clearly noticed Nubba was from Earth like himself.
"Bubba, I’m from Texas." I extend my hand to him."
Subaru's face lights up with recognition as he grasps your hand firmly. "Texas? No shit? I'm from Japan, but I've always wanted to visit the States." He glances around at the ancient ruins and smoking battlefield. "Though I never thought I'd end up here. What's your story, man? How'd you get pulled into this mess?"
Wilhelm clears his throat, drawing your attention. "Before we delve into that, we should perhaps move to a more secure location."
"I concur." Crusch makes her presence known as the other characters trickle into a circle in front of the mansion.
"Oh! I also concur!" Emilia says triumphantly. "Alright then, let's head inside this mansion." Roswall suggests. "It appears to be fortified, and the upper floors could provide a better vantage point."
"Roswall-Sama, are we going to let these strangers onto the mansion?" Asked Ram.
"Ooo I thiiink that wooould be Emilia's decision!" He responded. Emilia turns to Bubba with a warm smile, her golden eyes sparkling. "Of course, you can come inside! It's the least we can do after your help out there. Subaru said he knows what a texash is? Subaru explain, how do you know this man? Is he from your homeland?"
Ram frowns slightly, but doesn't protest further as Emilia makes the decision. The group begins to move towards the ornate mansion, its towers and spires reaching into the sky, framed by the sheet cliff face behind them.
"Ah, one does wonder where the enigmatic man hails from." Said Wilhelm.
Subaru stammers as they walk, "Ah, heh, well you see... Bubba here is from a nation allied to my own. We've shared some cultural influence for about a century I guess. Bubba tell me, does everyone really ride a horse in Texas?"
As they walk towards the mansion, Bubba can't help but feel a sense of awe at the grandeur of the structure. The ancient stonework is intricately carved with symbols and patterns that seem to shift and change in the flickering light. The mansion looms above you, a testament to Roswalls fortune.
Bubba smiles. "No Subaru, I heard foreigners have some outdated views of Texas. It's not very different from other states. I guess it does have a lot of biomes and natural beauty though. That being said, during my high-school days some kids did ride horses to school. There was some old rule allowing it and they had to change it ASAP haha."
Subaru listens intently, his eyes fixated. "Wow, that's really interesting. I had no idea about the horse-riding thing." He chuckles, shaking his head. "You know, it's funny. Even in this crazy situation, I'm learning something new about my own world."
Emilia listens to your conversation, her face alight with curiosity. "Texas sounds fascinating! I'd love to visit someday, if we ever find a way back. Subaru, why is riding a horse not common in your country? Do you use another animal?
The characters enter the mansion and head to a luxurious conference room. As the group settles into the opulent conference room, its high ceilings adorned with intricate frescos and the polished wooden table stretching before them, Bubba finds himself seated across from Subaru. The other characters take their places around the table, their attention fixed on the newcomers.
Crunch, flanked by Felix and Wilhelm, her green eyes with a hint of curiosity, leans forward slightly. "Bubba, would you mind telling us more about yourself? And perhaps, how you ended up here?"
"And how is Roswell's mansion back? We burned it to the ground." Garfiel said aggressively. Roswall chuckles, running a hand through his hair. "Oh, my dear boy, nothing quite so mundane as a reconstruction. You see, when one possesses enough power, one needn't simply rebuild, but recreate. I simply reimagined my home and... poof! New mansion. Isn't it charming? Now, back to the matter at hand - Bubba, I believe you were about to enlighten us with your fascinating origin story." His piercing gaze falls on him, curiosity and a subtle challenge dancing across his face.
Bubba- "I'm just an average guy living life who was moving some prepper gear to my bunker. Woke up nearby with my stuff and Bell was close. I think those circle structures all around are or were portals to other places."
Roswall leans back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face as he listens to his account. "Portals, you say? Fascinating. I had suspected as much, given the nature of this place and the circumstances of our arrival."
Crusch nods, her brow furrowed in concern. "If that's the case, we need to find a way to shut them down. Who knows how many more people could be pulled in? We can't risk the safety of our world."
Felix chimes in, his voice laced with worry. "But how? We don't even know how we got here in the first place. And these portals... they're not exactly user-friendly."
Bubba- "Actually I have a plan for that. The spire in the distance could have the answers. I'm suggesting an away team check it out. I might know who made the spire and this world for that matter, but I'd have to confirm it."
Roswall's eyes narrow as he studies him, a mixture of intrigue and skepticism playing across his features. "You have a plan, do you? And you believe you know who created this world? This is all very intriguing, Bubba. Pray, tell us more."
Emilia leans forward, her golden eyes sparkling with excitement. "An away team? That sounds like an adventure! I'm in. I've always wanted to explore these ancient structures."
Subaru nods in agreement, a determined look on his face. "If Emilia is going then so am I, her knight!"
"But Emilia-Sama, you're a candidate for the throooone. Perhaps Garfiel or Julius would be willing to take on this queeeeest?" Roswall chimed in.
Emilia waves her hand dismissively, "I can't just sit here and do nothing while others risk their lives. Besides, I want to see this world and understand it better. If this spire holds the answers, I want to be a part of it."
Julius, ever the stoic, speaks up, "I will accompany Emilia and Subaru. Someone must ensure their safety, and I am well-versed in ancient structures and their dangers."
Garfiel scoffs, "Well, I suppose I can't let you all have the fun. I'll go too. Someone has to keep an eye on you all and make sure you don't get into too much trouble."
Bubba- "Bell, would you be willing to stay here or come along? The atv seats 2. Do you guys have transport?"
Bell glances between the group members, his blue eyes wide and uncertain. After a moment, he shakes his head. "I...I think I might just be in the way, I'd rather stay here for now," he says hesitantly. "I'm still not used to all this - the technology, the creatures, even the world itself. It's too much, too soon."
Roswall nods in understanding, his expression softening slightly. "Very well, Bell. It's prudent to stay here and rest, especially given the circumstances. We shall be happy to have a guest."
Wilhelm, who has been quietly observing the exchange, finally speaks up. "I'll stay behind as well. Someone should keep an eye on things here, and I can help coordinate efforts if we need to move quickly."
Otto chimes in, "I could be helpful. I could sit with Bubba, and Julius could ride Patrashe while Garfiel runs alongside us."
Roswall chuckles, a sly smile playing across his lips. "Well, well, well. It seems we have quite the team assembled here. A motley crew, to be sure, but one with a great deal of potential." He leans back in his chair, steepling his fingers as he regards them with a penetrating gaze. "You say you know who created this world and these portals, Bubba? That's quite the claim. I must admit, my curiosity is piqued. Pray tell, who is this mysterious architect you speak of?"
Emilia leans forward, her golden eyes wide with excitement. "Yes, Bubba, please share what you know."
Bubba- "Well that's hard to explain. But if you just want a straight answer I think this place was built by the forerunners. An ancient people who ruled the galaxy. After a horrible war with a parasitic consuming organism they cleansed the galaxy of life. The galaxy being the stars In the sky, each having worlds like your own. Then they vanished, leaving their stuff behind for humanity to inherit for other complex reasons. There's a lot of lore behind this stuff and it could take me an hour to explain."
The room falls silent as his words sink in. Emilia's face registers shock and disbelief, while Roswall's gaze becomes increasingly intense. "Forerunners, you say? That's quite the revelation, Bubba. But I must admit, your explanation leaves much to be desired. A war with a parasitic organism that cleansed the galaxy? It sounds rather far-fetched, doesn't it?"
Subaru leans forward, his face a picture of confusion and fascination. "I've never heard of anything like that before. Are you sure you're not just, I don't know, making this up? It sounds like something out of a sci-fi novel."
Garfiel, who has been quietly observing, suddenly bursts into laughter.
Bubba- "Subaru, what does your story sound like? Besides, we literally got portalled here against our will, that isn't sci-fi enough for you? I have no proof, just my knowledge. I can explain further later, if we have time."
Subaru's face flushes with embarrassment as he realizes the irony of his words. "I suppose you have a point there. It does sound pretty sci-fi, doesn't it? But still, it's hard to wrap my head around all of this."
Emilia places a comforting hand on Subaru's shoulder. "It's alright, Subaru. We're all trying to understand this situation." She turns back to Bubba, curiosity evident in her golden eyes. "Bubba, could you at least give us a brief summary of the Forerunners and their technology? It might help us understand what we're dealing with here."
Roswall nods in agreement, his skepticism tempered by genuine interest. "Indeed."
Bubba- "They can make whole worlds like the one we're on now, and the portal thing sounds reasonable as well. They were gods compared to us in every sense of the word. I'm hoping to contact the local monitor of the planet, forerunner structures this size always have a monitor. They are a machine intelligence meant to watch over this stuff for Millenia"
Roswall leans back in his chair, stroking his chin thoughtfully as he considers his words. "A monitor, you say? That's an intriguing notion. If such a being exists, it could potentially provide us with the answers we seek." He glances around the room, his gaze settling on each person in turn. "However, I must caution against placing too much hope in this...monitor. We have no guarantee that it even exists, let alone that it will be willing to aid us."
Emilia nods in agreement, her brow furrowed in concentration. "Roswall is right. We should be prepared for the possibility that this monitor may not be cooperative, or even hostile."
"Is no one curious 'how' he knows this stuff?" Felix butted in.
Garfiel scoffs, "Oh please, like any of us would believe this fairy tale. I'm sure he just picked up some sci-fi books in his time, or maybe he's just a con man. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who brought us here in the first place, for all we know."
Emilia shakes her head, "Garfiel, that's not helpful. We should at least consider the possibility that Bubba is telling the truth. After all, we did end up here somehow, and he seems to have more information than the rest of us."
Bubba- "I told you that you wouldn't like it. Why would I make this up and help you guys? I'm really just some guy, like Subaru here. In my world the forerunners are a legend. Looks like they are real. That's the strange truth. Take it or leave it, we need to get underway. I'm not willing to stay trapped here, so I'm going even if I go alone"
The room buzzes with a mix of skepticism and intrigue as his words hang in the air. Emilia's eyes sparkle with a newfound determination, while Subaru's expression softens, acknowledging the validity of his point. Roswall, ever the strategist, leans forward, his eyes narrowing as he considers the implications of his proposal.
"Very well, Bubba," Roswall says, his voice steady and measured. "I see the sense in your urgency. However, we must tread carefully. This world, or shield, as you call it, is fraught with unknown dangers. We cannot afford to act recklessly."
Julius, who has been quietly listening, speaks up, his voice firm and resolute. "Indeed, Lord Roswall. We must gather intelligence before we act. Perhaps we should establish a small scouting party to investigate these structures." He turns to Bubba, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Bubba, I understand your desire to leave, but I hope you'll consider working with us. Your knowledge, whether proven or not, could be invaluable."
Emilia nods in agreement, her golden eyes locking onto yours. "I propose we form a small group to explore the spire. Bubba, your knowledge of the Forerunners would be incredibly helpful. Would you be willing to join our team and share what you know as we go?"
Bubba- "Of course, I'd love to hang with y’all. Your team is wildly overpowered compared to me haha. So, Julius, Otto, Garfeil and I will travel to the spire. Any objections?"
Emilia nods, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "It seems we have our team then. Julius, Otto, Garfeil, and Bubba will head to the spire to investigate. The rest of us will remain here and prepare for their return."
Roswall leans back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "Very well. I will have my servants prepare supplies and provisions for your journey. Remember, be cautious and keep in contact with us if possible."
Subaru leans forward, his eyes wide with a mix of excitement and apprehension. "I wish I could come with you, but I know my place is here, helping to protect Emilia and the others."
Bubba- "That's a great point Roswall! Communication. I'll leave a radio walkie talkie behind. Subaru can use it and I'll be able to speak to him through it at a distance, if there aren't jamming devices around. Who knows what's going on here at this point"
Emilia nods approvingly at his suggestion. "Excellent idea, Bubba. Having a way to communicate will indeed be invaluable, especially given the unpredictable nature of this world. Subaru, you'll show me how these raeedios work right?" She turns to Subaru, her purple eyes softening. "Subaru, I'm counting on you to keep us informed of any developments here. Your skills with technology and communication will be crucial."
Julius stands, his armor glinting in the light. "We should prepare to depart immediately. Time is of the essence, and we have no way of knowing what dangers may be lurking out there." He turns to Bubba, his face stern. "Bubba, I expect you to share everything you know about the Forerunners and this shield world. Your knowledge could mean the difference between life and death for all of us."
Otto, who has been quietly observing the exchange, speaks up. "I'll second that, Julius. We must be prepared for anything. This world is unlike anything we've ever encountered before." His eyes dart nervously towards the window, as if expecting some unknown threat to appear at any moment.
Garfiel scoffs, clearly unimpressed with the entire situation. As Otto finishes speaking, Garfiel rolls his eyes dramatically. "Fine, fine. I'll go along with this little adventure. But if we end up in some ridiculous situation, I'm blaming you lot." He gestures vaguely towards the group, his expression one of mild disdain. "And I swear, if I see one more of those creepy metal things, I'll have to get serious."
Bubba- "Ah those are Prometheans, they seem to be hostile right now, which isn't good. Hopefully the monitor’s forces and sentinels are peaceful. That reminds me, y'all wanted info. There will be more floating metal things in the structure you bet, don't attack unless provoked."
Emilia's face turns serious as she listens to your warning. "Floating metal things? Prometheans? Sentinels? This is all so foreign to me. But I trust your judgment, Bubba. We'll be careful not to attack unless absolutely necessary."
Julius nods grimly, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "Understood. We'll proceed with caution and diplomacy first. Though I doubt we'll have much luck communicating with these machine entities, if they even have the capacity for it." He turns to bubba, his face set in a firm line. "Bubba, you said there were monitors in this world. What exactly are they, and what role do they play in this place?"
Bubba- "There's usually one monitor per installation, 100,000 years alone has made them a little crazy from time to time and if all the portals in the world are malfunctioning they could be frantic. I plan to offer them help so we can get control of the portals and go home. If they turn hostile we'll have to hightail it out if there. The structure will have a lot of rooms and hallways. Like a maze"
Emilia's face shows growing concern as she listens to your explanation. "100,000 years alone? That's impossible. And if these monitors are that ancient, who knows what state of mind they're in. We'll have to be extremely careful when we encounter one."
Julius's grip on his sword tightens slightly. "A maze-like structure full of potentially hostile machines. It sounds like we're walking into a trap. But you're right, Bubba. If we can convince the monitor to help us, we might have a chance of controlling the portals and going home." He turns to Otto and Garfiel. "You two, keep your wits about you."
Bubba- "I appreciate the help, I'd probably die alone, I'm probably not even as strong as Subaru is right now."
Emilia places a comforting hand on your shoulder, her purple eyes filled with understanding. "Bubba, your strength lies in your knowledge and your ability to survive in this hostile world. Subaru may be strong in combat, but you possess skills and wisdom that are equally valuable. We need you to guide us through this maze-like structure and help us communicate with the monitor."
Julius nods in agreement, his expression softening slightly. "Emilia is right. Your survivalist skills and your understanding of the Forerunners' technology will be crucial in navigating this unknown territory. Subaru's combat prowess will undoubtedly be an asset, but we must rely on all of our strengths to succeed."
Bubba- "Well let me know when y'all are ready. I'm going to eat some snacks on my atv, I'm super picky with food"
Emilia smiles warmly at his self-deprecating remark. "Don't sell yourself short, Bubba. You've already proven to be an invaluable asset to our group. I'm sure Subaru would agree that your knowledge and skills are more than a match for any challenge we might face."
Julius chuckles, shaking his head in amusement. "Indeed, your pickiness with food is just one of the many endearing quirks that make you who you are. But I understand the need for sustenance before embarking on such a perilous journey."
Otto pipes up, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I'd love to try Texas food Bubba."
Emilia brightens up, "Food from Subarus homeland? Count me in!"
Crusch, who had been quiet until now raised a hand, "I'm also curious, could you bring some here?"
Felix gasped, "But Crusch-Sama! It could be poison, or a trap, or poorly made!"
Crusch raised an eyebrow at Felix's outburst, amusement dancing across her face. "Felix, you worry too much. I'm sure Bubba wouldn't risk our lives with food." She turned back to bubba, her curiosity evident. "So, Bubba, what kind of Texas food are you planning to bring?
“I've got chips, soda, chocolate, and burrito materials. The perfect meal if you ask me."
Emilia's face shows interest. "Chips, soda, and burrito materials? That sounds intriguing. I've never tried anything like that before."
Crusch nods eagerly, while Felix looks increasingly concerned. "I trust your judgment, Bubba. I can tell he's telling the truth. If you say it's safe, then I'm willing to try it."
Julius raises an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "Burrito materials? I'm not familiar with that term. What exactly does it entail?"
Otto chimes in, "I'm looking forward to trying this Texas cuisine, Bubba. It sounds unique and exciting."
Subaru's mouth is agape. "Bro! I haven't had that stuff in over a year!"
Ram chimes in, "We maids will have to help in the kitchen of course"
Bubba nods, a faint smile on his face. "Alright, I'll whip up some Texas cuisine for y'all. It'll be a little different from what you're used to, but I promise it won't kill ya. That being said, could I get a hand carrying the food?"
Emilia, Crusch, and Ram immediately volunteer to help prepare the food. As they gather ingredients, the group discusses the upcoming expedition to the spire. Emilia suggests using the time to familiarize themselves with the walkie-talkies, while Julius reviews the group's combat formations. Otto and Garfiel begin checking their gear, ensuring everything is in working order for the mission ahead.
Bubba gathers the food, tortillas, chicken, beef, Sriracha, Chipotle, jalape?os, bell peppers, bacon bits, chips, soda, and chocolates. His volunteers are perplexed by the way the food is stored and how it looks.
Emilia and the others gather around the counter, their faces a picture of confusion as they observe the unfamiliar ingredients. "Bubba, what are these strange items?" Emilia asks, pointing to the tortillas. "They look like large, flat circles."
Crusch picks up a jar of sriracha, her nose wrinkling at the strong smell. "This red sauce is very pungent. Is it safe to eat?"
Ram carefully examines the jalape?os, her brow furrowing. "These green peppers have a strange texture. Are they ripe, or is this how they're supposed to look?"
Otto reaches for the chips, his curiosity getting the better of him. As Otto crunches into a chip, his eyes widen in surprise. "This is... crispy and salty. I like it!" He pops another chip into his mouth, his initial skepticism melting away.
Julius, meanwhile, examines the tortillas with a critical eye. "These look like they could be used to wrap other ingredients. Is that their purpose, Bubba?" he asks, his voice tinged with curiosity.
Subaru, who has been watching the preparations with growing excitement, finally steps forward. "I'll help with the burritos. I remember how to make them." He takes a tortilla and begins to layer it with chicken, beef, and various peppers.
Bubba- "Indeed you're exactly right Julius. I tend to have some meat, cheese, sauce, and peppers in my burritos, but yall can put whatever in them. We just wrap them up and cook them"
As Bubba explains the burrito-making process, the group watches intently, their initial confusion giving way to enthusiasm. Emilia, with a determined look, takes a tortilla and begins to mimic Subaru's actions, carefully layering her chosen ingredients. "This is fun!" she exclaims, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I've never made food like this before."
Crusch, intrigued by the sriracha, decides to try a small amount on her finger. Her expression shifts from cautious to surprised as she tastes it. "This is... intense," she comments, her voice tinged with a mix of surprise and delight. "But I like it."
Bubba- "That's what she said! Oh wait, sorry you forgot who you were with for a moment. 'Subaru laughs hard from the comment'
"Well, I'd say that's a pretty Texan response right there, Bubba," Subaru chuckles, still grinning from the inside joke. The others look at each other quizzically, clearly not understanding the reference.
"Ignore us," Bubba says, shaking his head with a sheepish grin. "Anyway, you're getting the hang of this burrito business, Emilia. Looks like a tasty creation there."
Emilia beams with pride as she wraps the tortilla around her carefully arranged ingredients. "Thank you, Bubba! I'm quite proud of this, actually. It's nice to try new things and feel confident doing so."
Bubba- "Alright when you're wrapped just put them in the stove until the burrito starts to get hard, just before or after that is good to eat. This food is pre-cooked so it shouldn't hurt even to eat it cold. But I've always loved my food steaming hot"
The group listens intently as Bubba explains the cooking process, their curiosity piqued by this new method of food preparation. Emilia carefully places her wrapped burrito in the oven, watching it with rapt attention as it heats up. "I can already smell it starting to cook," she says excitedly, inhaling the aroma deeply.
Crusch, having finished her own burrito, looks at the stove with interest. "Is this how you prepare all your meals, Bubba? It seems quite efficient." She pauses, then adds with a smirk, "Though I'm not sure about the 'pre-cooked' part. Surely that's an exaggeration for the sake of explanation, right?"
Bubba- "No, the food was cooked and then frozen for safekeeping. That's why it was so cold when you got it. The chest I have on the atv is a cooler, put enough ice inside and it's a freezer for a while"
"Fascinating," Julius remarks, his eyes widening with interest. "The concept of preserving food in this manner is quite ingenious. It would certainly be beneficial for long-term expeditions and survival situations."
Emilia nods in agreement, her expression thoughtful. "Indeed, this could be quite useful for our current circumstances. If we can find a way to replicate this technology, it would greatly aid our efforts to explore and survive in this world."
Subaru, who has been eagerly watching the burritos cook, suddenly gasps in delight. "Oh wow, it's done! Look at that, the tortilla is all crispy and golden brown."
Bubba- "I imagine y'all could use magic to freeze things, some testing could get it right. Let's eat! I want to get underway"
As Bubba declares it's time to eat, the group eagerly gathers around the table, their eyes fixed on the steaming burritos. The aroma of the food fills the air, a comforting and familiar scent amidst the alien surroundings of the Forerunner shield world. The group takes their seats, cutlery clinking.
Bubba- "Oh this is hand food guys. You just pick it up and bite it"
Bubba's words prompt a flurry of activity around the table. Emilia, Subaru, Julius, Otto, and Garfiel all reach for their burritos, their hands closing around the warm, pliable tortillas. Emilia takes a tentative bite, her eyes widening as the flavors explode in her mouth. "This is... incredible," she says, her voice muffled slightly by the food. "The combination of flavors is so complex and satisfying."
Subaru, meanwhile, has already devoured half of his burrito, his cheeks bulging comically. "Mmmph, Bubba, you've outdone yourself this time," he mumbles, his words barely intelligible.

Bubba nods, "Yea, I usually eat these everyday."
Emilia swallows her mouthful of burrito, wiping her mouth with a napkin. "Really? Every day? I'm impressed, Bubba. The consistency and flavor are remarkable." She takes another bite, savoring the combination of ingredients.
Julius, ever the scholar, chimes in. "I must say, this is quite a novel culinary experience. The way the spices and fillings meld together is truly ingenious. I imagine this would be quite sustainable for long expeditions."
Otto, who had been watching the others with wide-eyed fascination, finally takes a tentative bite of his own burrito. His eyes widen, and he lets out a small, appreciative "Mmm!"
Bubba- "It's not advised to eat this much spicy food everyday however. It can cause indigestion and acid reflux over time. Well, for some people"
Crusch raises an eyebrow, a playful smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Well, Bubba, it seems you've found a way to make even the most mundane of meals an adventure. I must admit, this is quite enjoyable." She takes a delicate bite, her eyes closing briefly as she savors the flavors. "Though I must agree with you about the spiciness. I can feel the heat already."
Ram, who had been quietly observing the others, finally speaks up. "This is quite different from the food we have back home. The textures and flavors are unlike anything I've tasted before." She takes a bite, her expression thoughtful. "It's interesting how something so simple can be so satisfying."
Bubba- "That's what- oh right. Anyway what does everyone else think? Roswall? Rem? Bell?"
Roswall, who had been quietly observing the group from his seat at the head of the table, finally speaks up. "This is indeed a unique culinary experience, Bubba. I must admit, I did not expect such a simple meal to be so... invigorating." He takes a sip of his drink, his eyes never leaving the group. "I have traveled far and wide, but this is a new experience for me. I must say, I am impressed."
Rem, who had been standing by the door, watching the group with a mixture of curiosity and amusement, finally chimes in. "I must admit, this is quite different from the food we have back home."
Bubba- "Oh y'all should try the soda I brought as well. Do y'all have chocolate? It's a fan favorite of the ladies"
Roswall leans forward, intrigued. "Chocolate? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that term. Is it some sort of sweet or delicacy from your homeland?"
Bubba grins, pulling out a chocolate bar from his pocket. "It sure is! Chocolate is like the king of all desserts. Melts in your mouth and hits your taste buds in all the right ways. Trust me, ladies love it." He tears open the wrapper and takes a satisfying bite, closing his eyes to savor the rich, creamy flavor.
Emilia, Ram, Crusch, and Rem all look at each other curiously, drawn to the mysterious, delicious-looking confection.
Bubba- "Dark chocolate especially is helpful to women in particular. Here, *He gets some candies out of a bag and slides them to each of the ladies across the table*"
Emilia's eyes sparkle with intrigue as she takes the offered candy, examining the smooth, dark square. "Dark chocolate, you say? I've never heard of such a thing. It smells divine." She takes a small bite, her expression softening as the rich, slightly bitter flavor melts on her tongue. "This is... exquisite. The texture, the taste... it's unlike anything I've ever experienced."
Ram, Crusch, and Rem each take a piece of chocolate, their eyes widening as they taste the unfamiliar treat. Ram's eyes close briefly as she savors the flavor. "This is remarkable, Bubba. The richness, the complexity... it's almost overwhelming."
> You say "Oi! I've got to say that's what she said when you make it that easy ram! Haha!"
Ram's face flushes a vibrant crimson, her embarrassment evident as she quickly averts her gaze. "I... I didn't mean it like that, you fool!" She mutters, clearly flustered, as she tries to regain her composure. The other women at the table can't help but chuckle at Ram's reaction, with Emilia and Crusch exchanging knowing looks.
Roswall, who had been watching the exchange with amusement, clears his throat. "I see you have quite the way with words, Bubba. Though I must say, your humor seems to be lost on some of our more... refined guests."
Bubba "I don't pretend to be refined, I like to get it all out in the open to sort out who's my style. Bell, how are you? I know you're alone in this, I hope we find more of your people, but I also hope they aren't here you know?"
Bell Cranel sighs, taking a bite of his burrito. "I appreciate your concern, Bubba, but I'm not sure what to hope for at this point. Being here, in this strange world, is... unsettling. I miss Orario, my friends, and my home. But I also can't help but feel a sense of... wonder, I suppose. This place, these structures... they're unlike anything I've ever seen before."
He takes another bite, chewing thoughtfully. "As for my people, I don't know what to expect. I hope, for their sake, that they're not here. That this is just a strange coincidence, a glitch in the system, as it were."
Bubba- "Well now that I've earned a little trust I've got to lose it, typical for me. What I mean is I have a request. Subaru, could we speak alone?"
Subaru raises an eyebrow, slightly taken aback by Bubba's sudden request for a private conversation. He glances around the table at the others, noting their curious expressions, before nodding in agreement. "Sure, Bubba. Let's take a walk, shall we?"
The two men excuse themselves from the table and exit the conference room, the clatter of silverware and murmurs of conversation fading behind them as they stride down the grand hallway of Roswall's mansion.
"What did you want to talk about that couldn't be discussed in front of the others, Bubba?" Subaru inquires, a hint of apprehension in his voice.
Bubba- "Subaru your life is pretty action packed right? And you got isekaid, right?"
Subaru's face darkens slightly, a haunted look crossing his features. "You could say that. My life here... it's been anything but ordinary. And yes, I was isekaid. Dropped into this world without warning, without... without meaning to be here. It's been a constant struggle for survival, for answers."
"Have you watched isekai anime?"
Subaru lets out a bitter laugh, running a hand through his hair. "Isekai anime? No, I haven't. I wish I had. Maybe then I'd be better prepared for this." He pauses, a distant look in his eyes. "You know, sometimes I wonder if this is all just some elaborate fantasy. Like I'm stuck in some weird isekai plot, living out the life of a protagonist in a story I've never read." Subaru shakes his head, as if trying to clear away the thought. "But no, this is real. Too real. And I can't afford to think of it as anything else."
"Subaru, if you were living in an anime, would you want someone to tell you? Let's say they divulge what will happen in later seasons. It could be helpful, or it could erase whatever wins you would have made"
Subaru's expression turns thoughtful, his eyes narrowing as he considers Bubba's words. "That's an interesting question, Bubba. If someone told me what was going to happen, would it change my journey? Would it make it easier, or would it rob me of the experiences and growth I've gained along the way?"
He pauses, leaning against the cool stone wall of the hallway. "I think, in a way, knowing the future would take away from the struggle, the triumph, and the lessons learned. It's the journey that shapes us, not just the destination. But at the same time, if it could save lives, if it could prevent pain... maybe it would be worth it."
"If you were tackling a situation normally you would want all the info right?- to protect your friends?"
Subaru's face contorts with emotion at Bubba's question. "To protect my friends... yes, that's my first thought. If I could spare them the pain, the loss... of course I'd want that. I'd do anything for my friends. Anything."
"Re zero, starting life in another world from zero. That's what your anime is called. You're the mc and yes I know about your unspeakable ability. If you've been sent here before later seasons, I could provide a little help"
Subaru's eyes widened in shock, his breath catching in his throat. "You... you know about my ability? About my past lives?" He stammers, his voice barely above a whisper. "Re Zero? So all this pain has been... entertainment? Wait, I'm an anime in your world, that's trippy. Is this like the multiverse or something?"
"It's exactly that I'm afraid. Anything is possible in the multiverse. Including your story exactly being told as a story elsewhere. Sorry man. But I may be able to help like I said"
Subaru stares at Bubba in disbelief, his mind reeling from the revelation. "Help? How? I... I don't even know where to begin processing this information. My life, my struggles, they're all just... entertainment for someone else? It's surreal, it's horrifying, it's..." He trails off, his voice cracking with emotion.
Bubba places a comforting hand on Subaru's shoulder, his expression one of genuine sympathy. "I know it's a lot to take in, Subaru. And I'm sorry that you have to carry this burden. But I meant what I said - I may be able to help you. "Why not make sure this story has a happy ending? After all, multiverse means there's infinite endings to your story. Let's get the right one."
Subaru looks up at Bubba, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "A happy ending," he repeats softly, as if tasting the words on his tongue. "I've never really dared to hope for one of those. It's always been about survival, about trying to make things a little less awful. But a happy ending... that's something I've never even let myself imagine." He takes a deep, shuddering breath, wiping at his eyes with the back of his hand. "You're right though. If there are infinite endings, then maybe, just maybe, there's one out there where everything works out. Where I don't have to keep reliving the same tragedies over and over again."
"I've seen you man, and I know just how awesome you are. You're only 18, I promise life gets easier. You get stronger emotionally and better at talking. What were you doing before you were sent here to the shield world? I may be able to place where you are in the story"
Subaru looks thoughtful for a moment, his eyes distant as if searching through the remnants of his memory. "Before I came to this world, to this shield world," he says softly, "I was... We were traveling to Pristella the Watergate city, that's the last thing I remember"
"For the first time?"
Subaru nods, his expression turning somber. "Yes, for the first time. I remember the journey, the anticipation of what lay ahead. But then, everything went dark, and I woke up here, on this shield world. It was disorienting, to say the least. Being isekaid twice, wait... does that mean we're In some fanfiction crossover?" Subaru was wildly irritated.
"Yes, in an infinite amount of realities we’re a show. When I get back I'll explain what I can about your future. The water gate city is arc 3 i think and there are like 8 or 9 arcs I know of somewhat"
Subaru's eyes widen in shock, his breath catching in his throat. "Eight or nine arcs? I... I don't even know what to say. I mean, I knew my story was popular, but this..." He gestures vaguely, encompassing the strange world around them. "This is something else entirely. I can't even begin to wrap my head around the idea that there are so many different versions of my life, my struggles, out there somewhere. Wait, if Watergate city is an arc... that means there's trouble, and i'll have to use my signature ability again..." Subaru's face contorts with dread at the thought, his hands unconsciously clenching into fists. "I don't know if I can do it again. Each time I die, each time I relive those moments, it gets harder. The pain, the grief, it's overwhelming. But if I have to, if it's the only way to save everyone, I'll do it. I have to." He looks up at Bubba, his eyes pleading. "Do you think it will be different this time? Do you think I'll find a way to survive without using my ability, without all that pain and suffering?"
"No. In fact in later arcs the death count rises to a huge number. I have info that can help immensely now that I'm recalling it. Let me explain it to, you after this mission"
Subaru's shoulders slump in resignation, but there's a spark of determination in his eyes. "Alright, let's focus on the mission at hand. We need to figure out this shield world and find a way to control the portals. Maybe, just maybe, we can change the course of my story, our story."
Bubba nods, giving Subaru a reassuring pat on the back. "That's the spirit. We'll tackle this one step at a time. First, we need to get to that spire and interact with the monitor. "That being said I don't know how to tell the others this. We may have to hide it from them. It's just too unbelievable. That's why I took you aside alone"
Subaru nods, his face grave. "You're right. If we told the others, especially Emilia and the others, I don't know how they'd react. It's too incredible, too... surreal. We need to keep this between us for now, at least until we understand more about this shield world and what's really going on."
He glances around, ensuring no one is within earshot. "But what about the others who are stuck here? Do you think there's a way to get them back to their original worlds, or at least somewhere they belong? Because if there's a chance, I want to help them too. No one deserves to be trapped in someone else's story, no matter how popular it is."
"Nice! Yea I know that Bell has an anime, he has hard fights and battles, but he doesn't have to well, repeat as you do. He's very strong"
Subaru's face softens as he considers Bell, his gaze distant. "You're right, Bell is incredibly strong. I've seen him face monsters far beyond what most people could handle. But you know, there's more to strength than just physical power. Bell has a pure heart, an unwavering determination to protect those he cares about. That's what truly makes him so formidable, even without my ability."
He looks back at Bubba, a wry smile on his face. "I guess we both have our own versions of strength, don't we? Though I have to admit, I'm a bit envious of Bell's straightforward path. No death loops, no constantly reliving the worst moments of my life."
"Let's head back before everyone starts to try to eavesdrop. Subaru I truly like you and want to help. Sincerely, I think you're awesome. It's weird to say to you, but re zero is my favorite anime. It deals with identity a lot and I have some... disorders that relate to that. So I guess thanks, your struggles helped me see things differently and move forward"
Subaru looks at you, his eyes glistening with a mix of emotions - surprise, gratitude, and a hint of vulnerability. He takes a deep breath, steadying himself. "Wow, I... I don't know what to say. I never expected my story to have such an impact, especially not in a way that's helped someone else deal with their own struggles. That's... that's incredible. I'm truly honored, and I want you to know that I'm here for you too. Whatever you're going through, you don't have to face it alone."
He claps Bubba on the shoulder, a gesture of solidarity and understanding.
"Fist bump?!"
Subaru chuckles and holds up a fist, bumping it against his. "Fist bump indeed. We're in this together now, you and me. No matter what challenges this shield world throws at us, we'll face them side by side. And who knows? Maybe our combined strength, your knowledge of the Forerunners and my... unique perspective, will be exactly what we need to unravel this mystery and find a way home for everyone." He takes a deep breath, a newfound determination hardening his features. "But for now, let's focus on the immediate task at hand. We need to get to that spire, interact with the monitor, and gather as much information as we can."
"Well make it, I've got a strong team. At least rem is awake now right? That must be amazing for you"
Subaru's smile grows as he mentions Rem, a gentle smile spreading across his face. "You're absolutely right, having Rem back is amazing. Her strength, her guidance, and most importantly, her presence... it means more than I can express. After all that happened… having her back, being able to see her again..." He pauses, emotion thick in his words. "It's given me the courage to push forward, to keep fighting, to hope for better days. Not just for me, but for all of us trapped in this world."
Bubba chuckles- "Alright friend, let's head back. I haven't thought of an excuse for our privacy yet. Have you?"
Subaru scratches his chin, thinking for a moment. "How about we say we were discussing something personal to our cultures? Man to man. That might work? I've managed to make excuses so far..." Bubba nods in agreement, appreciating Subaru's quick thinking. "That sounds like a solid excuse. Let's go with that."
They walk back to the dining room and find the others finishing their food. Ram is quick to ask just what you were discussing, her piercing gaze fixed on them as they entered, her curiosity evident "Well, well, what exactly were you two discussing in such great detail? It's just like you to be so secretive, especially with someone who's so... new to our group." Her words drip with suspicion, her eyes narrowing as she studies their faces for any sign of deception.
Emilia, seated beside her, looks up from her half-eaten burrito, a gentle smile on her face. "Ram, please don't be so harsh. I'm sure they had their reasons for wanting privacy. We all have things we'd rather keep to ourselves sometimes, don't we?"
Bubba- "Exactly, Subaru and I share some... cultural stuff from our nations. I wanted to make sure we were on the same page"
Ram's eyes narrow further, clearly not satisfied with his explanation. "Cultural stuff? How fascinating. Do tell us more about these... cultural similarities." She leans forward, her interest now almost predatory, as if she's determined to catch him in a lie. Emilia places a hand on Ram's arm, trying to calm her.
Subaru quickly jumps in, trying to deflect attention. "You know, Ram, I was actually just telling our new friend here about some of the more... interesting aspects of my culture. Like the concept of 'yandere' and 'tsundere' in anime. It's quite educational, isn't it?" He grins, clearly enjoying the chance to tease Ram with her own interests.
Bubba- "Haha, I forgot ram is a tsundere!"
Ram's face flushes a deep crimson, her eyes widening in shock at Subaru's teasing. She stammers, clearly flustered by the sudden attention. "And just what does that mean Subaru?" Subaru grins mischievously, enjoying the opportunity to tease Ram. "Well, a tsundere is basically someone who acts cold and aloof, but deep down, they really care. It's like a defense mechanism, you know? Pretend to be mean, but secretly want to be loved." He winks at Ram, who looks like she's about to combust with embarrassment.
Ram's face is now a deep shade of red, her eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape route. She opens her mouth to retort, but no words come out, only a strangled squeak. Emilia, ever the peacemaker, steps in to diffuse the situation. "Now, now, Subaru. Let's not tease Ram so much. It's not very... gentlemanly." She turns to Ram, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Ram, I'm sure Subaru didn't mean anything by it. He's just... well, he's just being Subaru." Her gentle smile and calming words help ease Ram's embarrassment, though her face remains flushed.
Julius stands, "I think we should get underway." Subaru chuckles, the tension in the room dissipating as Emilia and Julius step in.
"You're right, Julius. We should get moving." He successfully deflected Ram's questioning.
Subaru nods, a mischievous grin playing on his lips as he watches Ram's flustered state. He stands up, stretching lazily. "Besides, I'm sure we all have more important things to discuss than my cultural knowledge, right Ram?"
Ram huffs, crossing her arms with a pout. "You're insufferable, Subaru." Despite her words, there's a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. Emilia laughs softly, shaking her head at the two of them. "I swear, you two are like children sometimes."
Bubba- "Otto, Garfiel y'all ready Freddy?"
Otto and Garfiel exchange a puzzled look at your strange phrase. Otto tilts his head, his brow furrowed in confusion. "Ready for what, exactly? I'm not sure I understand the reference."
Garfiel nods in agreement, his eyes wide with uncertainty. "I'm unfamiliar with this 'Freddy' you speak of. Is this a cultural figure from your world?"
Julius clears his throat, stepping forward with a knowing smile. "Ah, I believe I can shed some light on this. It seems our friend is using colloquialism, a phrase that's meant to be humorous or encouraging before embarking on a task." He turns to Bubba, a twinkle in his eye.
Bubba- "Indeed I think it's just a saying due to it rhyming. Let's head out with Julius here and figure out if this is truly forerunner in nature"
Julius nods, appreciating his explanation. "Indeed, let us proceed with caution and an open mind. The mysteries of this shield world may yet reveal themselves to us." Julius got Patrasche ready to ride as Garfiel stretched outside. Bubba showed Otto the atv and he showed Subaru how to work the radio as the others gathered their gear, preparing for the expedition.
As they head out, Subaru fidgets with the walkie-talkie, trying to get it to work. "Hey, Bubba, how do I turn this thing on again? I keep pressing the wrong button." Bubba shows him the power switch, and he nods in understanding.
The group sets out, with Julius and Patrasche leading the way. The path winds through a dense, otherworldly forest, the air thick with the scent of unknown flora. Otto grimaces, his grip tight on the seat as the vehicle bumps along the uneven terrain. Garfiel runs alongside them.
Otto, "Just who made this thing? There's no wind magic barrier"
They continue their journey, the ATV kicking up dust and leaves as it rumbles through the alien undergrowth. Julius rides ahead on Patrasche, his keen eyes scanning the dense foliage for any signs of danger. Garfiel bounds alongside the ATV, his agility and endurance allowing him to keep pace with ease. They travel peacefully across the grassy hills and eventually make it to the looming spire, a staircase to a platform up above was pronounced and an eerie silence hung in the air, broken only by the distant hum of the ATV's engine as it idled. The ancient stone structure looms over you, its surface covered in strange glyphs and carvings that seem to defy understanding. Julius dismounts from Patrasche, his boots crunching on the gravel as he approaches the base of the stairs.
"This is an impressive feat of architecture," Julius remarks, running his fingers over the intricately carved steps. "I've never seen anything quite like it before."
Garfiel nods in agreement, his keen eyes scanning the spire's facade.
Bubba- "Should we bring patrasche up? I think I'll have to leave the atv here if we take these stairs"
Julius considers the question for a moment, his brow furrowed in thought. "I believe it would be wise to leave Patrasche here for now. The stairs seem narrow and treacherous, and I'm not certain she would be able to navigate them safely."
Otto chimed in, "Patrasche here is strong enough to take on any foe, she'll be fine." Bubba nodded in agreement with Julius' assessment, patting Patrasche affectionately on the neck before securing her reins to a nearby tree. "You're right, Julius. It's best to leave her here for now. We'll need to be extra careful as we ascend these stairs."
Bubba- "Alright everyone, let's go over the plan one more time. We're going to approach this spire cautiously, keeping an eye out for any potential threats. I'll keep an eye on the radio, and let y'all know if anyone back at the mansion tries to contact us. Garfiel, you're on point with Julius."
Garfiel nods, his face set in a serious expression. "Understood. I'll be extra vigilant." Otto and Bubba exchange a glance, their faces reflecting the gravity of the situation. The group begins to ascend the spiraling staircase, the ancient stone steps worn smooth by countless years of use. As they climb higher, the wind whips around them, carrying an otherworldly chill. Julius and Garfiel take the lead, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. The higher they climb, the more intricate the carvings on the spire's surface become, their meaning still lost to modern understanding. The walk is long, but they eventually near the platform.
Garfiel puts up a hand, “I smell something... hear it too. I think it's someone."
Otto shuddered, "Or something!"
Julius drew his sword and prepared his spirit arts as the 4 of them arrived at the platform. An unknown spaceship was on the platform, something only Bubba understood. To their right was a door, where one lombax and small robot were tinkering with a closed door on the spire
Bubba sighed, "Guys I think we can establish peace with these people. Can y'all back me up?"
Julius nods solemnly, his grip tightening on his sword. "I will support you, Bubba. But we must be cautious. We know nothing of these beings or their intentions."
Garfiel crouches low, his keen senses on high alert. "I agree. Let's approach slowly and keep our guard up. I don't like the look of that closed door - it could be hiding anything."
Otto gulps audibly, his eyes wide as he stares at the strange ship. "I-I'll back you up too, Bubba. But if things go south, I'm running for the hills!"
Bubba smiles and puts his arms up defensively, leaving cover, "Pardon me! Are you ratchet and clank? We come in peace"
Ratchet looks up from the door panel he was working on, his wrench tightening in his grasp. He blinks in surprise at the group of humans, his eyes wide. "Who are you? And how do you know our names? These two certainly don't look peaceful. " He motions to Julius and Garfiel.
Clank steps forward, his photoreceptors flickering as he takes in the strange sight before him. "I don't think we've met these individuals before, Ratchet. Perhaps they're lost travelers like us?"
Bubba- "I apologize for startling you. My name is Bubba, and these are my companions. We come from elsewhere, same as you. I believe this world is a portal nexus of sorts, between worlds. If this structure is forerunner, I may be able to open the door."
Ratchet's eyes narrow suspiciously as he looks you over, his wrench still clutched tightly in his hand. "A portal nexus, huh? That's a mighty big claim to make, stranger. And what's this about the Forerunners? I've never heard of them before."
Clank, ever the curious one, rolls closer, his photoreceptors focusing on the intricate carvings adorning the spire. "The Forerunners... They built all this?"
Bubba- "The portals have been malfunctioning clearly, were all from different universes I think. We're all in the same boat, wanting to go home. If I can access the panel by the door, maybe we can get answers"
Ratchet strokes his chin, considering your words. "Well, that's a lot to take in, but I suppose it makes sense. We've been stuck here for what feels like an eternity, trying to figure out this door. If you think you can help, I'm willing to listen."
Clank chimes in, "Indeed, we have encountered no other beings since our arrival. If these people can assist us, it would be beneficial to our shared goal of understanding this place."
Julius sheathed his sword, taking a step forward. "We mean no harm, Ratchet. We're just trying to find our way home, same as you. Bubba here is a survivalist and has knowledge of these ancient structures."
Ratchet nods slowly, his expression still guarded but a hint of hope flickering in his eyes. "Alright, I'm willing to give you a chance. But I warn you, if you try anything funny, you'll have to deal with me and my wrench." He jerks his head towards the door panel. "The controls are over there. Knock yourself out, but be careful. We've already triggered a few nasty surprises."
Bubba makes his way over to the panel, his fingers brushing over the unfamiliar symbols and runes etched into the surface. As he studies the layout, a sense of familiarity washes over him.
He places your hand over the console and hopes it responds to a reclaimer.
As his hand hovers over the console, the air crackles with an unseen energy. The symbols on the panel begin to glow softly, responding to his touch. The hum of ancient machinery resonates through the spire, and the door behind shudders slightly, as if awakening from a long slumber. The lombax and the robot exchange a glance, their expressions a mix of awe and apprehension.
"By the stars," Ratchet mutters, his grip on the wrench loosening slightly. "It's actually working."
Clank rolls closer to the panel, his photoreceptors flickering with curiosity. "Fascinating. The technology is unlike anything we've encountered before."
The door hisses open, old air escaping the building. A sentinel Flies up to Bubba and he barely contains Garfiel. "These are peaceful unless provoked guys! Usually... Just be patient."
The sentinels scans them with an orange light, its mechanical whirring echoing through the chamber as it scans each member of the group with an intense orange light. The beam pauses briefly on each person, lingering on Julius's sword and Garfiel's tense stance before moving on. The air is thick with anticipation, and the hum of the ancient machinery seems to grow louder with each passing second.
Ratchet watches the sentinel warily, his wrench still at the ready. "What is that thing?" he mutters under his breath.
Clank, however, seems intrigued. "It appears to be some form of security measure, Ratchet. Let us observe and remain calm."
Bubba- "As long as we don't destroy the forerunner stuff or piss off the monitor we'll be fine. Ratchet, clank, care to join us? We're going in to find out what's going on here"
Ratchet glances at Clank, then back to Bubba, his face a picture of conflict. "I don't know, stranger. This is all pretty crazy. But," he pauses, looking at the open door and the mysterious chamber beyond, "I suppose we've been stuck here long enough. If you really can help us get out, I'm willing to take that chance."
Clank chimes in, "Indeed, Ratchet. This could be our best opportunity to leave this place. I am curious to see what lies beyond that door." The sentinel hovers nearby, its orange light still scanning the group periodically. The air feels charged with possibility, and the ancient machinery's hum seems to pulse with an almost rhythmic quality.
Bubba- "Away team, we ready?” he asks Otto, Garfiel and Julius"
Otto straightens his posture, adjusting his glasses. "I'm ready, but I don't like the look of that sentinel. It's making me nervous."
Garfiel nods in agreement, his hand resting near his sword hilt. "We should proceed with caution. These Forerunner constructs can be unpredictable."
Julius, however, looks more confident, his hand resting on his own weapon. "I trust your judgment, Bubba. Lead the way."
The sentinel hovers closer, its orange light intensifying as it focuses on your group. The air feels charged with tension, and the ancient machinery's hum grows louder, almost ominous. Bubba leads the group into the hallway and they begin to transverse the structure.
As they step into the hallway, the ancient machinery's hum envelops them, resonating through the very walls and floor. The air is cool and sterile, carrying a faint metallic tang. The hallway stretches out before them, bathed in a soft, ethereal glow emitted by the luminescent symbols etched into the walls. The sentinel hovers silently behind them, its orange light casting eerie shadows that dance and flicker with their movements.
The group moves cautiously, their footsteps echoing in the vast, empty corridor. They can feel the weight of history and mystery pressing down on them, the air thick with the potential for both discovery and danger. They eventually make it to a large open room with a raised section hosting some sort of large console. They cautiously enter the grand chamber, its soaring ceilings and sweeping walls adorned with intricate carvings that seem to tell a story spanning eons. The room's centerpiece is a raised platform, upon which rests a towering, cyclopean console - a monument to the Forerunners' once-incomprehensible technological might.
The sentinel, having escorted the group to the threshold of this hallowed sanctum, hovers expectantly at the entranceway, its unblinking gaze now fixed upon their every move.
Julius takes a tentative step forward, his eyes wide as he takes in the majestic sight. "By the spirits. I bet that console is the key. We should spread out.”
Bubba-”Right, there's a few doors in here and I don't want to get into a kill box. I'll check the console with clank and Otto while Julius, Ratchet, and Garfiel take positions for defense.”
The sentinel's orange light intensifies as they approach the console, casting an eerie glow across its surface. The ancient machine hums with a low, resonant frequency that vibrates through their bones. As Bubba and Clank examine the console, they notice intricate symbols and glyphs etched into its surface, pulsing with an inner light.
Julius, Ratchet, and Garfiel take up defensive positions around the chamber, their weapons at the ready. The sentinel hovers near the entrance, its attention divided between the group and the vast, empty space beyond. The air feels charged with tension, and the machinery's hum grows more insistent, almost as if it's responding to their presence.
Bubba- "Well here goes nothing.” He places his hand on the console
As his hand makes contact with the console, the hum of the ancient machinery intensifies, resonating through the chamber like a heartbeat. The symbols and glyphs etched into the surface of the console begin to pulse more rapidly, their inner light flickering in sync with the rhythmic hum. The air crackles with energy, and the hairs on the back of everyone’s neck stand on end.
The console responds to his touch, and a holographic interface materializes above it. The hologram displays a complex array of symbols and diagrams, swirling and shifting in a mesmerizing dance. Clank, hovering nearby, emits a series of beeps and whistles, his eyes scanning the holographic display with intense curiosity. Clank begins to decipher the symbols while the sentinel hovers by Otto.
"Just what are you? Hello?" He asked as it hovered right in front of him.
The sentinel suddenly changed to a blue glow and a voice spoke, "Ah Reclaimer! I am a 5 1 9 Adamant Retainer, monitor of this installation. I am currently exhausting every effort to stop the alien forces that are trying to manipulate the portals. These spires can stop the portals, and protocol dictates that in the event of the loss of this installation it must be destroyed in full. If you could use this one to turn off the portals, it would be much appreciated Reclaimer."
Otto steps back in shock. "It spoke!"
The sentinel's blue glow pulses as it continues, "Additionally, I am detecting a presence that should not be here, within the domain. It’s a fragmented construct, name… Cortana? Oh my! It appears to have jumped straight to your device Reclaimer!”
Bubba- “Cortana? To my Device?”
“Indeed this was a complication I did not foresee, However we have more pressing matters, the spires are not designed for your biological form, Reclaimer. Please be advised that prolonged exposure may have unforeseen consequences. Your organic matter may not be compatible with the space-time distortions this installation generates. The portals have already caused enough damage to the local space-time fabric. I do not wish for you to suffer the same fate as the others who came before."
Clank hummed, "What are Reclaimers? Cortana? How many spires are needed to be shut down?" The sentinel's blue glow pulsed as it replied,
"The Reclaimers are a group of individuals chosen by the Mantle of Responsibility to uphold the cosmic order. They possess the necessary knowledge and capabilities to wield the Forerunners' ancient technology. Cortana appears to be a reclaimer construct that is severely fragmented. As for the number of spires, two dozen dot the planet's surface, and the aliens control over 18 of them at this time. My sentinels are spread thin fighting them."
Bubba- "This is a lot…Aliens huh, could we get a visual?"
The sentinel's blue glow flickers in response to his request, and the holographic interface above the console shifts, displaying a three-dimensional map of the planet. The map rotates slowly, revealing the locations of the two dozen spires scattered across the landscape. Eighteen of these spires are highlighted in a menacing crimson, indicating the alien presence. The remaining four, including the one they currently occupy, are marked in a reassuring green.
Suddenly, the hologram zooms in on one of the crimson-marked spires, providing a real-time visual feed. The scene is chaotic and grim. A sentinel's view is shown, the aliens are clearly the Banished, but only Bubba knows this. The Banished forces swarm the spire, their twisted forms and advanced technology a jarring sight in this ancient landscape. Massive capital ships orbit the spire, while below, smaller craft ferry waves of troops and equipment. The sentinel's view reveals hulking Promethean warriors engaged in brutal combat with Banished forces, their battles leaving craters and devastation in their wake. The hologram shifts, showing the spire's internal structure as Banished technicians attempt to override the control systems, their dark energy signatures corrupting the once-pure Forerunner technology.
The sentinel's voice echoes through the chamber: "The aliens have deployed a sophisticated hacking protocol."
Clank, "Oh my. These certainly are aggressive people."
"519, how do I shut down this spire?" Bubba asks.
The sentinel's blue glow intensifies as it processes your request. "To shut down this spire, you must navigate through the following sequence: First, input the master code into the console. The code is: 732-1-1-8-7. Once entered, a series of tests will begin to verify your compatibility with the system. If successful, you will gain access to the primary shutdown sequence. However, I must warn you - the shutdown process is not without risk. The space-time distortions caused by deactivating the portal could have unforeseen effects on your biological form."
The sentinel pauses, its blue light flickering. "Additionally, I'm afraid to say that banished forces have arrived through portals and are heading to the spire as we speak. Also, a ship has been in stealth nearby for some time."
"Those things are coming here?" Otto was freaking out.
The sentinel's blue glow intensifies, and its warning tone becomes more urgent: "Reclaimers, time is of the essence. The Banished forces have already begun to work on the outer door.
Bubba- "Alright I'll shut it down. Everyone! We've got company coming, enemies! The Banished. They are brutal and tough with ranged weapons! We’ve got to shut down this spire! So hold out!"
The sentinel's warning becomes more urgent as the Banished forces draw closer. "Time is critical, Reclaimers. The Banished are less than two minutes from reaching this chamber. The shutdown sequence must be initiated immediately."
Bubba quickly inputs the master code - 732-1-1-8-7 - into the console. The ancient Forerunner technology springs to life, the massive console humming with energy. However, as he begins the shutdown sequence, a deafening alarm blares throughout the spire. The Banished have triggered their own countermeasures, attempting to override the system and prevent the shutdown. Garfiel, Julius, and Ratchet take defensive positions around the chamber, weapons at the ready.
Bubba- "519 can we get a visual on that mystery ship?"
The sentinel's blue glow pulses rapidly, and the holographic interface shifts once more. The view changes to an aerial perspective, revealing the sprawling landscape of the shield world. Amidst the alien terrain, a boxy ship was hidden amongst some rocky outcroppings. Bubba instantly recognized it as the Ghost from Rebels.
"519, can we contact them?" Bubba asked.
"Yes, Reclaimer," the sentinel responds. "The ship appears to be running in stealth mode. I will attempt to initiate contact." A crackling of energy emanates from the console as a communication beam shoots skyward.
Bubba- "Tell them we can help them get home by working together and we need help exiting the spire and fighting the banished."
The sentinel's communication beam pierces the sky, seeking out the hidden Ghost. Moments later, a flicker of light appears on the console's surface - a response from the ship.
"Reclaimer, I have established contact with the vessel," the sentinel announces. "They have acknowledged your message and are preparing to rendezvous at the spire's ship platform where you entered. However, the Banished forces are closing in rapidly. You must make haste to reach the extraction point."
Garfiel, Julius, and Ratchet exchange tense glances, their weapons trained on the chamber's entrance. The sound of approaching footsteps and the distant roar of Banished vehicles echo through the ancient halls.
The shutdown sequence continues, but the Banished forces' countermeasures are causing interference. The massive Forerunner console flickers ominously, its ancient systems struggling against the assault. Otto shivers visibly, his eyes darting nervously between the console and the chamber's entrance.
"Scanning systems reveals significant temporal distortions forming at the spire's core," Clank reports, his tiny arms moving rapidly over the console's interface. "The Banished interference is creating a feedback loop. We must complete the shutdown before the temporal cascade reaches critical levels."
The sound of Banished forces grows louder, accompanied by the screech of metal and the whir of machinery.
Bubba- "I'm on it!"
The console's ancient mechanisms groan and shudder as he frantically inputs the final commands. The shutdown sequence nears completion, but the Banished relentless assault threatens to overwhelm the Forerunner technology. The chamber's walls tremble, and the air crackles with energy. Suddenly the banished open some of the rooms doors and begin to fight the team. The chamber erupts into chaos as the Banished forces, clad in menacing armor and wielding advanced weaponry, pour into the room. The air is filled with the cacophony of blaster fire, the clash of metal, and the distant roar of their vehicles. The team quickly disperses, each member taking cover and returning fire with their own arsenal.
Ratchet, his Lombax instincts kicking in, dashes behind a pillar and begins to lay down suppressive fire. His weapon hums and sparks, sending bolts of energy hurtling towards the enemy. Julius uses his spirit arts to blow away a whole column of Banished forces The Banished forces are quickly overwhelmed by the combined might of the team. Their bodies are thrown back by the force of Julius' spirit arts, crashing into the walls with bone-crushing impacts. The chamber fills with the sounds of breaking bones and screams of agony as the Banished soldiers are dispatched with brutal efficiency. Garfiel is a blur, tearing the banished apart with his hands, using his demi human form and strength. Bubba frantically works the console, his fingers flying over the ancient controls. The shutdown sequence is nearly complete, but the Banished interference threatens to undo their efforts. Sweat beads on his brow as he pours every ounce of his computer knowledge into completing the task at hand.
Suddenly, a massive explosion rocks the chamber, sending shockwaves through the ancient structure. The walls groan and shudder, and a deafening roar fills the air. A group of Banished forces, clad in their distinctive armor, burst through the far door, weapons blazing.
"Fall back!" Julius shouts, his voice barely audible over the din of battle. "We must regroup and continue the shutdown!"
519 says, "Reclaimer the shutdown is complete, the stealth ships crew are fighting the aliens at the landing platform." The chamber falls silent, the echoes of battle fading into the distance. The ancient Forerunner console, now dormant, stands as a testament to the team's successful shutdown of the spire. Bubba, his hands still trembling from the intensity of the battle, steps away from the console and surveys the carnage. The once pristine chamber is now littered with the broken bodies of the Banished forces, their advanced armor twisted and shattered by the combined might of the team.
Julius, his spirit arts still crackling with energy, moves to the center of the room. "We must make haste to the landing platform," he urges, his voice heavy with concern.
Bubba- "We can ride in the stealth ship, I know of them! Ratchet can follow us back to the mansion and we can hopefully figure out what to do from there. Garfiel! Let's head down the halls and get out of here."
"Roger that," Ratchet nods, giving a thumbs-up as he scoops up a shaken Clank. "Let's boogie!"
Bubba turns to Otto and Garfeil. "Alright fellas, let's head on out and link back up with the crew at the landing platform. This stealth ship will be our ride back home to the mansion."
With a decisive nod, Garfiel transforms back to his human size and strides ahead. Otto gasps, "What about patrasche?!"
Bubba- "We'll have to swing down and get her and the atv on our exfil.”
Garfiel nods solemnly, his eyes reflecting the dim lighting of the Forerunner spire. "Aye, we'll secure our mounts and take a moment to regroup before pressing on."
Julius gestures towards the sprawling hallway branching out from the chamber. "The landing platform is this way. We'll need to make haste - the Banished will surely regroup and redouble their efforts to stop us."
Bubba hefts his trusty survival pack and strides forward with purpose. "Lead the way, Julius.”
As the group moves swiftly through the dimly lit corridors, the echoes of their footsteps reverberate off the ancient walls, mingling with the distant hum of the dying spire. The air is thick with the scent of metal and the faint tang of blood, a grim reminder of the battle they've just endured. Julius takes the lead, his spirit arts flickering at his fingertips, ready to strike down any remaining Banished forces. Ratchet and Clank bring up the rear, the Lombax's eyes scanning the shadows warily, his OmniWrench at the ready.
The hallway is a labyrinth of ancient machinery and intricate carvings, the Forerunner technology humming softly as it powers down. As the group navigates the twisting corridors, they encounter more Banished forces. The soldiers are alert and ready, having learned from their previous defeat. The first encounter is tense, with Julius using his spirit arts to pin two Banished against the wall, while Garfiel dispatches a third with a devastating punch. However, the Banished are proving to be more resilient this time, their armor absorbing some of the damage. A firefight erupts, with Ratchet's OmniWrench providing covering fire, arching across the room as the group presses forward.
"Almost there!" Julius calls out, his spirit arts casting a pale blue glow as he leads the group through the final stretch of corridors. The landing platform comes into view, a vast circular chamber dominated by the sleek, stealthy Ghost ship. However, their victory is short-lived as more Banished forces pour in from multiple entrances, cutting off their escape route.
The Banished open fire, their plasma rifles filling the air with searing energy. Garfiel and Otto immediately engage in hand-to-hand combat, their combined strength and skill keeping the Banished at bay. Ratchet and Clank provide covering fire, the Lombax's weapons blasting away at the enemy forces. The Ghost crew, Hera, Zeb, Sabine, And Chopper were all fighting as well, pinning the banished between their forces and thinning their numbers. The sleek, stealthy Ghost ship loomed before them, a beacon of hope amidst the chaos. The banished, now cut off from escape and without leadership begin to retreat. Some brutes jetpacking off the spire, and grunts fleeing in terror as the two teams had them surrounded on the platform.
"Victory is ours, for now!" Julius exclaims, his spirit arts still crackling around his hands. "We've driven back the Banished, but we must not let our guard down."
Garfiel nods solemnly, his eyes sweeping the battlefield. "My amazing self must have scared them!"
Bubba rushes to Otto, helping the weary courier to his feet. "Come on, fella, let's get you on the Ghost and get you some medical attention." Hera approaches them, "You said you can get us home?"
Bubba nodded, "I know what we have to do to all get home. Will you work with us? We need a ride back to base and to pick up two things at ground level"
Hera's eyes narrow as she studies you, her expression a mix of curiosity and caution. "And what might those two things be?" she asks, her voice steady despite the chaos that still lingers around them.
> You say "Animal mount and a small vehicle"
Hera's face flickers with surprise. "Animal mount and a vehicle? You want us to pick up a Bantha or something, then?" She scoffs.
"Wouldn't be the first time.", laughed Zeb.
Chopper muttered something incoherently.
“Listen strangers, we'll give you a ride and listen, but we'll take your weapons while on my ship."
"That's fair enough. We're just here to get back home, same as you," Bubba says, handing over his weapons to Zeb. "I'll explain everything else on the way."
Hera nods, gesturing for the others to board. "You heard the man, let's get moving.
As they ascend into the Ghost, Julius turns to Bubba, "You seem to know a lot of people Bubba."
Bubba chuckles, "Well, Julius, I've been around the block a few times. Met a lot of folks in my adventures. I've got a knack for making friends and allies in the strangest places." He looks around at the group, "And I've got a feeling we're all going to need each other if we want to make it home."
As they settle into the Ghost, the ship hums to life, the engines roaring softly as it prepares for takeoff. The interior is sleek and functional, with holographic displays casting a soft glow over the crew. Hera takes the pilot's seat, her hands dancing over the controls with practiced ease. Garfiel, Otto, and Julius are amazed by the flying machine as it takes off. Ratchet and Clank follow in their own ship as they head back to the mansion after quickly grabbing the atv and Patrasche, who was nervous about entering the ship. As the Ghost ship ascends, the spire shrinks beneath them, a towering monument to the ancient Forerunners. The ship's engines hum softly, a comforting sound amidst the chaos they've left behind. Hera navigates the Ghost with precision, her eyes scanning the controls and the horizon with equal intensity. The ship's interior is a blend of advanced technology and worn, comfortable seats, a testament to the Ghost crew's long journey.
Bubba- "That's the direction we came from, Hera"
Hera nods curtly as she adjusts the ship's controls, steering the Ghost towards the mansion. The vessel glides smoothly through the air, a sleek, silent shadow against the backdrop of the strange world below.
Zeb and Chopper assess the newcomers. "So you fight with a sword and make explosions?", asked Zeb to Julius.
Julius chuckles, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Something like that, my friend. I wield the power of spirit arts, which allows me to conjure blades of pure energy and unleash explosive force. It's a gift from the gods, passed down through generations of my family."
"Spirits?" Asks Zeb.
"In his world there is magic Zeb. And here too I guess. I'm Bubba, this is Garfiel, Otto, Julius and Patrasche."
Hera's eyes narrow as she processes this information. "Magic, huh? Never thought I'd hear that word again." She pilots the ship with practiced ease, her hands dancing over the controls. "So, you're saying there are multiple realities out there, with different rules and technologies?"
Bubba nods, settling into a seat. "That's right. This place, it's a nexus of sorts. A hub where different worlds connect. We're all from different places, but we've ended up here.
Julius leans forward, his spirit arts still crackling faintly around his hands. "It's incredible, really." Chopper groans and complains.
Otto lets out a sigh of relief, "I don't know who you people are but you have my thanks. Those banished monsters were terrifying!" As the Ghost ship continues its journey, the hum of the engines creates a soothing backdrop to the conversations unfolding within. Ratchet and Clank's ship follows closely behind, its sleek design a stark contrast to the more rugged, organic feel of the Ghost. The mansion comes into view, a grand structure nestled amidst the alien landscape, its spires reaching towards the sky.
Hera's voice cuts through the hum, "So, what's the plan once we get back to your base?" She glances at Bubba, her eyes reflecting the holographic displays.
"We've got to work together to gather allies to fight the banished. If we deactivate 23 more towers and or defeat the Banished, the monitor will be able to send us home. Right now he isn't in control of the towers or the promethean forces.
Zeb, "Banished huh? Stupid name. Well crush em!"
Hera's brow furrows as she considers Bubba's words. "Defeating the Banished and deactivating those towers... it's a tall order. But if it means getting home, I'm in." She glances at Zeb, who nods in agreement.
Sabine, who has been quietly observing the newcomers, speaks up, "Why did you contact us? How did you even find us? We were in stealth mode."
Bubba smiles- "The monitor of the planet informed me and I made a decision, we couldn't have defeated the banished easily without you guys."
Hera raises an eyebrow, impressed by Bubba's initiative. "Well, you made a good call, Bubba. We've been hiding, laying low, but it seems like the universe has other plans for us." She turns her attention back to the controls, guiding the Ghost ship towards the mansion with renewed determination.
Sabine looks at Garfiel, "So you fight with those gauntlets on your arms?"
Garfiel chuckles, flexing his gauntlets. "Indeed, I do! Captain said the best offence is a good defense!" He looks at Sabine with a mischievous grin. "Perhaps you'd like a demonstration, once we're safely on the ground?"
Sabine smirks, a glint of challenge in her eyes. "I just might take you up on that offer, Garfiel. It's been a while since I've had a proper sparring match." She leans back in her seat, crossing her arms. "But first, let's focus on the task at hand." The mansion comes into view as the Ghost ship descends towards the mansion, the group can see the sprawling estate in all its glory. The grand structure, with its ornate spires and intricate architecture, stands in stark contrast to the alien landscape surrounding it. Hera expertly guides the vessel to a landing pad near the main entrance, the ship settling gently onto the ground with a soft hiss.
The group disembarks, stretching their legs after the journey. Ratchet and Clank's ship lands nearby, the duo emerging to join their newfound allies. Bubba takes a moment to survey the area, his keen eyes noting the strategic placement of the mansion and the potential defensive positions.
