My father, Theron Vaiyrad, was a man of immense strength and sharp wit, wielding Void Magic—one of the rarest and most dangerous magical types in the world. My mother, Loryain Vaiyrad, was a gentle, beautiful, and wise healer, the kind of woman who could ease both physical pain and the pain people don't speak of. She met my father during a cave raid, where light met darkness—and instead of clashing, they fell in love.

  The other children admired me. They were drawn to my abilities. They always wanted me to cast a spell to show them things they couldn’t do. I was loved. I was popular.
