Life had been going somewhat okay for Ji Yuxi.
Sure, they were broke, had to budget like their lives depended on it, and still lived in a tiny house where privacy was a myth, but at least he had finally saved enough money to buy a ptop!
That’s right. No more fixing dusty, half-dead robots and repairing ancient space toasters for scraps. He was going to get a ptop, restart his game development, and finally, finally do something he was actually good at.
Or at least, that was the pn.
Because instead of celebrating his newly saved funds, Ji Yuxi fainted.
Xiao Yu was the first to scream.
"LAN! LAN, HE'S DEAD!"
Lan, always calm, scooped up Ji Yuxi effortlessly. "He's not dead."
"HE LOOKS DEAD!"
"He's breathing."
"WHAT IF IT'S HIS LAST BREATH?!"
Lan sighed and walked out with Ji Yuxi in his arms like a bride on their wedding night.
Ji Xing, the little girl they had rescued, burst into tears and clung to Lan's pant leg the entire way to the hospital.
If anyone saw them on the street, they probably thought a full-blown space tragedy had occurred.
The hospital was one of those super futuristic pces with floating medical drones and weird beeping machines that Ji Yuxi, in his half-conscious state, wanted to punch just for being so loud.
The doctor, a middle-aged man with no nonsense written all over his face, looked at them and asked,
"Who's the patient’s husband?"
Silence.
Xiao Yu opened his mouth, ready to expin that Ji Yuxi was single, but before he could—
Lan pulled him by the waist and said, "I'm his husband."
Xiao Yu choked on air.
"EXCUSE ME?!"
The Doctor looked at him like he was an idiot and pointed at Ji Yuxi, "His Husband, not his."
Then, common sense kicked in. Something was off.
Xiao Yu quickly calmed down, sighed dramatically, and said, "Ji Yuxi's husband died when we escaped."
The doctor raised an eyebrow but nodded like it made sense.
Then, he dropped the bombshell.
"He's six weeks pregnant."
Dead silence.
Ji Yuxi, who had been half-conscious this whole time, finally opened his eyes.
The first thing he heard?
"He's pregnant."
The first thing he did?
He fainted again.
Xiao Yu caught him mid-fall, expression bnk. "Well. That went well."
After reviving Ji Yuxi again, Xiao Yu turned to the doctor.
"Are you sure?!" he demanded.
The doctor nodded. "He's a Guide. It’s rare, but not impossible. His body will need extreme care, though."
Ji Yuxi sat there in pure shock.
Pregnant.
With actual children.
Of his own bloodline.
He had no parents in his st life. No close family. No lover. And now, suddenly—
BAM. Kids.
Ji Yuxi stared at the floor. Was the universe pying some sick joke on him?
Of course, no visit to the hospital was complete without financial pain.
After paying the hospital fees, which hurt both physically and emotionally, they dragged themselves home.
Ji Xing, still clinging to Ji Yuxi like a koa, kept patting his face gently, as if checking if he was still alive.
Ji Yuxi sighed.
He had barely figured out how to take care of one child, and now he was about to have more?!
Once home, Xiao Yu sat Ji Yuxi down and stared at him seriously.
"What do you pn to do?"
Ji Yuxi, still processing life, muttered, "I'll raise them."
Xiao Yu rolled his eyes. "Well, obviously. You're not going to throw them in the dumpster."
Ji Yuxi gred. "That was an awful example."
Xiao Yu smirked. "I'm just making sure."
Then, he crossed his arms and grinned. "Why do you look so grim? This is a reason to celebrate!"
Ji Yuxi looked at him like he'd grown two heads.
"CELEBRATE?! WE'RE BROKE!"
"You were broke before. Nothing changed."
"WE CAN'T EVEN AFFORD REAL FOOD!"
"That also hasn't changed."
Ji Yuxi groaned, rubbing his temples.
That night, Ji Yuxi y awake, staring at the ceiling.
Pregnant. With kids.
Real, actual kids.
Not adopted, not randomly found, but his own bloodline.
It was overwhelming.
But at the same time…
He felt something unfamiliar in his heart.
Something… warm.
For the first time in both his lives, he wasn’t alone.
He had real retives...
Xiao Yu, now accepting his fate as Ji Yuxi’s designated caretaker, shoved a cup of warm nutrition drink into Ji Yuxi’s hands.
“Drink,” he ordered.
Ji Yuxi frowned. “It’s too early for this.”
“You’re pregnant. You don’t get opinions anymore.”
Ji Yuxi narrowed his eyes. "I am still your elder."
Xiao Yu smirked. “Then act like it.”
Ji Yuxi groaned but drank the weird-tasting liquid anyway.
Lan, sitting across the table, watched the exchange in silence before saying,
“Wife, you’re very caring.”
Xiao Yu choked on air again.
“I SWEAR TO THE STARS, LAN—”
