Chapter 15 : Lancho

  Pov Multiples (A-B)

Sarah, Kety, Eliana, and Ali heard the sound of a roof colpsing on a nearby building. They all exchanged worried looks—it could be Mikki. Without hesitation, the entire group started running toward the noise.

When they arrived, Mikki was there. She had just emerged from a building whose roof had caved in. She was clutching her abdomen, blood seeping from her wound. She hadn’t yet noticed the group approaching.

Mikki finally turned her head and saw Kety walking toward her. Suddenly, a strong sense of déjà vu hit her—she remembered seeing this exact moment in one of her dreams. In that vision, she had seen the same person standing in the middle of a burning Neko City.

She immediately raised her gun and pointed it at Kety.

"Stay back, Sarah. I’m going to take care of her," Mikki said coldly.

Sarah’s eyes widened in panic as she saw her sister aiming at Kety. She quickly made the connection—Mikki had told her about this dream before. Without thinking, Sarah rushed in front of Kety.

  "Don't shoot! She's a friend! I swear!"

Mikki let out a frustrated sigh and lowered her gun. The strength left her body, and she colpsed to her knees, blood still dripping from her wound.

Kety immediately grabbed her medical kit and hurried to Mikki's side. She pulled out bandages, alcohol, and sutures, ready to treat the wound.

  "Mikki!"

Sarah knelt beside her sister, grabbing her hand tightly. Tears welled up in her eyes as she gently stroked Mikki’s head.

"I missed you so much, sis..."

Mikki, exhausted, managed a weak response as Kety got to work on her injuries. When the alcohol touched her wound, she let out a sharp cry of pain, but Kety remained focused, treating her injuries with impressive skill despite only having one eye.

"I'm never letting you out of my sight again..."

Sarah’s gaze fell to the steel colr around her neck, and she hesitated before touching it.

Mikki frowned. "What’s that on your neck?"

Sarah shook her head, avoiding the question.

  "We’ll talk about it ter..."

Fifteen minutes passed as Kety finished treating Mikki. With Ali and Sarah’s help, Mikki slowly got back on her feet.

"Now, let’s head to the pace."

  Pov Taiwo (A-B)

Taiwo had stepped out of the room where she had been imprisoned, followed closely by the royal guard. At her side were the Prince of Okarie and his chief advisor.

  "So, what's the pn?"

Ladi asked with a nod. The prince responded with a small, eccentric ugh.

"We go in and take back power from Lencho… as simple as that."

"And what about his personal guard? He has part of the army on his side!"

Taiwo walked through the corridor, deep in thought.

"We need to convince the soldiers. The royal guard can help if we use brute force, but they outnumber us."

Suddenly, soldiers emerged from one of the building’s hallways.

  "The Prime Minister has escaped!"

The royal guard quickly stepped forward to protect the group, aiming their weapons at the armed soldiers. The prince spoke in a commanding voice.

"You dare defy the Prince of Okarie? The punishment for treason is death!"

The soldiers exchanged uneasy gnces. Some hesitated—his authority was strong enough that a few began lowering their weapons. One by one, more soldiers followed, creating a domino effect. The group pressed forward.

"So this is royal authority… Impressive," Ladi remarked as Taiwo nodded in agreement.

  The prince, however, looked dissatisfied.

"I'm afraid this won't work on all the soldiers. Those closest to Lencho are the most loyal."

"I think I’ve found a way to make them submit," Taiwo said.

  Pov Lancho (A-B)

Lancho was in the Prime Minister’s office, seated in the chair, staring pensively out the window, reflecting on his actions and the coup he had orchestrated. He didn’t truly regret what he had done—his goal had always been to save the kingdom. Lancho had always been a technophobe, someone who despised science.

Suddenly, a figure appeared behind him—an angel with rabbit ears.

"I see you've done your job well. Congratutions, you've secured the pce, and now my pn can be set in motion."

Lancho gave a slight nod. A few months earlier, this angel had come to strike a deal with him, offering him power in exchange for his allegiance to the Martyrs. It had been an opportunity too good to pass up.

"The Prime Minister should be locked in her room… I fear her friends, those Firebirds, might come back for her."

The angel shook her head, still smiling.

"My followers are already handling that. The only thing I’m missing is the device that was stolen from me."

  Lancho raised an eyebrow.

  "Your device?"

"Nothing too concerning, don’t worry about it."

The angel smirked, and Lancho merely shrugged—he was interested in power, not his ally’s secrets.

"I believe the pink-haired kitten has it. I need to find her."

The angel closed her eyes and began speaking.

"To any avaible captains, locate Zye. She’s a pink-haired kitten—you can’t miss her."

She frowned when only one response came, from Amadee.

"Strange… Only one of them answered. Either the others have been neutralized, or they’re still fighting."

Lancho remained silent, lost in thought, watching the angel.

"I’ll take care of it. Keep that seat nice and warm for me."

The angel vanished, leaving Lancho in deep reflection. His most loyal guards and a group of Martyrs stood in the office, protecting the area.

Looking out the window, Lancho could see the chaos engulfing the noble district—battles raging between the army, the Martyrs, and his loyalists.

Suddenly, he heard fighting outside. He stood up from his chair just as the entrance door was broken down. A small group of soldiers stormed into the office—it was the royal guard.

Lancho had assumed the prince had been captured. But to his horror, not only had the prince arrived, but so had Taiwo, the Prime Minister.

He maintained his composure and smiled at the group that had just entered.

  "Lancho!"

"So, Madam Prime Minister managed to escape with the prince’s help. How impressive."

Taiwo looked furious, her clenched jaw revealing her anger.

"Look at the city! You’ve caused chaos! Our people are killing each other!"

"And? It’s just a small sacrifice to save the kingdom…"

The prince stepped forward, raising an eyebrow.

"I see you’ve lost your mind. And to think I once respected the conservative party. What a disappointment. I value tradition, but bringing chaos to my kingdom? That, I cannot accept."

  Lancho continued smiling.

"The kingdom has been lost ever since the progressives took power! I am merely saving it."

Taiwo stepped forward and smmed her fist onto the table.

"This isn’t saving the kingdom—it’s destroying it."

"You can’t do anything, Taiwo! The damage is done. All that’s left is to wait for the outcome!"

Taiwo grabbed Lancho by the colr, fire burning in her eyes.

"I can still save my people."

With the strength of a lioness, she lifted Lancho by his colr and threw him toward the royal guard.

"Lock him up for treason. I advise the rest of you to y down your weapons!"

Taiwo roared, and the Martyrs in the room, along with Lancho’s loyal soldiers, dropped their weapons. They were escorted out of the office by the royal guard.

Now, only Taiwo, the prince, Ladi, and a few royal guards remained.

  "What now, Taiwo?"

Taiwo focused, then let out an earth-shaking roar that echoed through the entire city.

The citizens who heard the terrifying sound froze, fear gripping them. The fighting among the people came to a sudden halt.

Taiwo sighed, her voice slightly weakened.

  "I hope that worked."
