My name is Haruki Kisaragi. I'm an ordinary high school student—or at least, I was until the day everything changed.
As I walk through the park, I see the most beautiful girl with blonde hair. I'm in awe and disbelief. She walks away, and I sigh, feeling my stomach rumble. I decide to get some curry.
"Hey, old man, one curry," I say.
"Coming right up," the manager replies.
I scarf down the delicious curry. In my mind, I think, This old man is like my grandpa. My mom died, and ever since, my dad has been drinking so much he barely notices me.
"Hey, old man, I saw the most beautiful girl ever. She had blonde hair, and her eyes were so captivating," I say.
"Wow, I'm surprised, Haruki. I was starting to think you were into guys," the old man replies.
"Aw, c'mon, seriously?" I retort.
The old man chuckles. "Well, I'm getting tired. Thanks for the curry, old man," I say as I run off.
"Man, that kid is something. But wait, he didn't pay," the old man sighs.
As I continue walking, I see the blonde girl again, standing face to face with her.
"It's you again!" I say, shocked.
"I've been watching you from a distance, and I've taken quite an interest in you," the mysterious woman says.
"Wow, really? The ladies say I'm quite a catch," I giggle and scratch my head. Suddenly, I feel a breeze.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"Come closer," the mysterious woman says.
"Uh, okay," I say hesitantly, but I give in. I mean, I know hardcore karate, just in case she tries anything. I walk forward to her, but that's when I notice her eyes. They look red, almost. I get chills, but then suddenly, I feel dizzy and pass out.
I wake up slowly, my head still hurting a bit.
"Man, what was that?" My eyes widen in shock as I see the world I'm in. It looks like some sort of city, but the style is from the 1700s.
"Hmmm... I get it now. That's it! I've been blessed in a new world and have amazing magic powers to save this entire world. I've been summoned as a hero, like from those mangas," I smirk to myself, feeling almighty and powerful.
"Well, I guess I'll just look around," I say as I walk around town. I see a girl standing out; she has incredible dark red hair and green eyes. I see some sort of tall man steal a necklace from her; she doesn't even notice.
"Hey, stop that man!" I yell, alerting the girl. She turns around fast and shoots fire from her hands. I'm wide-eyed, shocked. This is truly incredible; I can't believe this. Then the girl grabs my hand and runs with me after the bandit.
"Hey, where are you taking me?" I ask.
"Sorry about this. I need your help," the girl says, her voice very soft and sweet. I give in.
"Alright, let's split up. Then we can find him a lot easier," I say to her. She nods, and we split ways.
"Damn it, where could he be?" I spot the thief with the shiny necklace in the corner of the alleyway.
"Hey, stop that!" I yell. "Give that necklace back!"
The thief shoots an icicle at me, piercing my leg. I scream in pain, bleeding out. I fall to the floor.
"So pathetic. What a weakling you are. Truly, someone like you has no hope of beating me. Filth like you deserves to die," he says.
He stomps on the icicle, piercing it further. I scream in agony; I want it to end. He then cuts my throat open. I fall to the ground, my throat bleeding. It hurts so bad.
I didn't even help her. Why am I so useless? Why am I so weak? I was never strong. Someone like me doesn't deserve to be alive, I think to myself.
Man, I didn't even get her name, I think of her face before passing out, the blood squirting out of my neck. It's so painful. I wish I helped her.
I gasp, my eyes opening. I see myself standing where I was before. I touch my throat and leg; the wounds are gone. My eyes widen.
"Am I going insane? What is happening? How am I alive? Why am I alive? Am I dreaming? This is..."
I see someone familiar—a beautiful girl with dark red hair and green eyes.
