  Hey Diary,

Today and yesterday were very busy days. Maeve and I spent all yesterday morning convincing people that the earthquakes lately aren’t normal earthquakes, and that we need to warn everyone about them. After lunch she said it was absolutely imperative we go to a spa, so we did. And spent most of the afternoon there. My hair and tail are back to what they were before the ursa major took the yellow out! Yay!

Then this morning Maeve and I went back to the queen, and we got more official information about what the ground is doing. We took it to the guild, and they decided that tomorrow we need to head out for Stoneford. Since we’ll be traveling again, we get to keep Peanut! Or, keep him until the papers have been delivered.

This afternoon all of us went shopping! I found a flying carpet!! It’s all gold and blue and fancy, and it can lift two people at a time, and I absolutely love it. It cost… a lot. But it’s so worth it!

This is kinda the first big thing I’ve ever bought for myself. I’ve spent money on myself, like for clothes and stuff, but at home everything expensive I had was shared. It was never something for just me. This is all mine. And it cost most of the money I have.

But that’s ok, because I have a job. I’ll get more money. And when I have more money, no one can tell me how to spend it. No one will be around to give me a mildly disappointed look when I say I want to spend my money on things for me.

Anyways, Maki got a scabbard with a broken sword. He said people respect appearance when it comes to guards. If he looks like he has a sword, and looks like he’s reluctant to pull it out cuz then he’d have to kill someone, people will be just as afraid of him as if he pulled out a whole sword. He’s also going to pay Luke to put runes on it, just to look more authentic.

Luke got some supplies and tools and a belt to hold those tools. Nothing exciting, but he says they’re gonna make a huge difference in his quality of work. So I’m happy for him.

Maeve, strangely, didn’t get anything. She just followed us around and offered suggestions. Well, she got a thing to tie her hair back, but just because it was hot out and she wanted to tie her hair up. But nothing fancy or interesting.

Oh, Maeve said she’s going to write her mom and explain about the whole earthquake deal. I… don’t know if I want to do that. I haven’t written to Mom or Dad since leaving, and there are things I want to tell them, but not in a letter. Not on a piece of paper that will get to them in a week or so, and then I won’t be able to see their reactions.

I don’t know, I think after this whole earthquake business is over, I’ll suggest we go home for a visit. Just a little visit, to check up on everyone and say hi. And then leave again.

I wonder, if we go home, whose house would Maeve and Luke stay at.

If we went home, I wonder how upset Mom would be if I decided to stay at the inn. Probably very upset. I don’t know, family is complicated, and I need sleep.

  Signing off,
