Dear Risa,
So, you know that thing I wrote about that totally didn’t happen? I now have proof that it did happen.
Risa. I can turn my eyes glowing gold. It is absolutely the most amazing thing ever. Some asshole thinks he can threaten me? Ha! I have at least some measure of divine favor, and you don’t want to know what else.
Sure, fire magic is fire magic, and I can make heat waves around me. But everyone with fire magic has that figured out. It’s not really all that hard.
But heat waves plus eyes glowing with divine magic? Yeah, that gets fear.
Ok, maybe I should explain. I mean, you’ll have spoken to me before reading this, so chances are you’ll have seen me turn on the full eyes/hair/tail gold glow effect. Because it’s pretty awesome and I’m gonna beg to keep it forever if the goddess takes it away.
So, the world will kinda low-key end in two months. You probably know this, since you’re reading in the fuuuture. BUT! Since I’m one of Goddess Bonnie’s Chosen, I got pulled into a meeting thing with all the other Chosen, and she told us to warn people. Which I’ll start as soon as we get to Default. To make sure people believe us, we get this slider thing in our stat screens to switch out our normal magic color with gold.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
I was playing around with it last night, and realized it’s not all-or-nothing. It starts with eyes, then highlights in tail and hair, then fills them out until everything is glowing gold. Very cool.
Then today I did my normal job. The mayor of Feetsville is a straight-up thief. It’s not even corruption, it’s full-on hijacking of funds for personal use. A couple thousand silver is completely unaccounted for.
He tried the basic “oh, I’ll let you have this measly sum if you accidentally fill out the paperwork wrong”, which Maki stopped. I think Maki sensed this guy was bad news, because he didn’t suggest that the bribe should go to him to not have seen the mayor trying to bribe an Auditor.
And that’s when the mayor got all mean. He said he owns the town, and he has a couple guards who could take my brother down, and I’d never be heard from again.
Well, guess what dude, I’ve got someone else watching my back, too. Gold eyes and highlights, heat waves, full eye contact, aaand he was trying to merge with the wall. You would have loved it.
It kinda freaked Maki out, though. I hadn’t told him, I still haven’t told him, so he wasn’t expecting the whole “divine fury” thing. I kinda don’t want to explain anything until we’re on our way to Default.
You’ve met him. You know he doesn’t ask questions. Something weird happens that doesn’t put anyone in danger? No questions from him.
When we were little he got in trouble a lot for asking Dad questions. Doctors can’t exactly explain what’s wrong with every specific person, so Dad had to completely shut him down a lot. And then in the Guard, his job was to follow orders, not question anything. So even if he’s freaking out, no questions from him.
And speaking of not asking questions, I think I need to talk to Luke. Ask if he forgot I told him I love him.
Nnnnnah, I’ll do that on the way to Default, too.
Regarding Regards,
Maeve Zee
