With what sounded like a small 'later', Tara disappeared. I looked over at Annabelle, Alexia standing beside her both with large smiles.
"Something wrong?" I asked, with slight discomfort.
Annabelle shook her head, "Nope, we just saw everything you did." Alexia just chuckled, at which point I noticed some flashing icons in the corner or my eye.
I mentally opened the notifications, which caused the flashing to stop and got a few surprises.
I quickly pulled out the book, and flipped through it, watching the occasional holo-illusion go through the moves. With a smile, I handed the book to Alexia, "There, now you can learn the rest from the book."
I checked the time and saw that not even one full standard day had passed. It seems the local time was odd, four hours of nighttime and twelve of daytime. That made the local day cycle sixteen hours, while the standard was thirty. I started looking around the little clearing we had appeared in when a glint of sun caught my eye. I moved over and saw a small rounded stone stuck up through the leaf litter. I cleared around it a little and found that it was just the point of something larger when another notice popped up.
Now that was interesting, my own personal sanctuary Landmark. Well, mine and my bonded, I did notice that bugs and animals were not prohibited from coming and going as I watched a rabbit run around as it chewed on various leaves. The little crystal, it looked like a rounded end rod, was the marker for the Landmark. I had thought they would be bigger than that, but I guess they come in all sizes. With a shrug, I summoned a palm-sized red oval crystal, which I then had form into a gun. The barrel came from the narrower end facing away from me the grip and trigger forming underneath the larger end at the heel of my palm. Once the pistol formed, I aimed carefully and pulled the trigger. Gathering up the now dead rabbit, I carried it a little way away from the clearing and cleaned it, before I returned and handed it to Annabelle.
"For breakfast," I said with a smile, while she took it with a small smile in return.
I looked over at Alexia, who had the book open her body following the images, as she learned the fighting style. I smiled and just as I was about to sit, I heard a rustle of the bushes next to Annabelle, just before she yelled. I shot up from my half seated position, and dashed over, my hand darting into the bushes and I pulled out something that looked like an odd cat. It hung by the scruff of its neck for a few seconds, then the claws came out as it tried to sink them into my arm. It looked like a tiger cub, with a white base and black stripes, there were two cute little horns on the head, two large fangs, however, the main surprise was the two wings, one on each side of its back. I used the analyze skill on it.
I reached out and grabbed one of the paws, the claws resheathed themselves, and I gently pushed on the pad. I felt him start to tense up to attack and I growled at him, which caused him to blink and not attack, as I looked at the claws. Yup, they were poisoned, so I looked at the rabbit and one of the rear legs had claw marks on them.
"Annabelle cut off that clawed leg for me please." After she handed it to me I sat down, and placed the cat on my lap, "I'll call you Tiger, I know I not good at giving names, but it will do." Then I fed him the rabbit leg and got yet another system notice.
