37-Final evolution? (end arc 1)

  ----------------------------------------Jack POV-----------------------------------------

I was able to kill that lump of rock, looking at his smug face, even at the moment of death he believed himself invincible... not that I don't understand his arrogance, he just had bad luck in fighting with me, had I chosen the air affinity, the best I could do would be to shut down his flames, but then he would still kill me with his poweful body.

*Sigh*, it's better to not think with and , this situation is definitely because of luck, but isn't that also part of my strength? Wasn't I also amazing in that fight?

Well, for now let's store his body, the temperature here is becoming excessively hot, I also intend to take with me those four walls of ruby, it's really true that with great risks come great rewards... when you don't die, that's it.

While the lava is raising, I swiftly retrieved the body, the sword and the four walls; using the Earth control skill I also created a path for the lava to take, this way I'm sure that the lava will not flow in my direction when I leave this place, fortunately I finished just in time to get away safely from the valley.

I ran until I was sure to be far enough to not be in the explosion range; just in case that that sword strike caused some kind of problems for the volcano, which would in exchange blow up itself and the other three in a chain reaction, I didn't want to be there to see it happen, better safe than sorry.

Now that I'm safe, should I finally read the log? It's from when I killed the ruby giant that it's blinking: "show log".

So he gave me enough experience to evolve? To think that I expected to not find worthy opponents... I may have to reevaluate my strength, just because I can kill masses of mindless undeads, I shouldn't let it get over my head, there are plenty of more powerful being in this world.

  "Evolve in zombie"

  "Yes".

As I said it, I mentally prepared myself for the pain that was bound to follow my choice, but unexpectedly, the pain never came, in exchange a wonderful feeling started to spread along my bones, protecting them. Is it possible that the first time I felt that much pain because I was leaving behind my body?

Or is it that because the skeleton body doesn't have nerves, this time I don't feel pain? Now that I think about it, did I feel pain when the giant bashed and scorched me? Nope, so with this I found out why I'm not feeling pain, I only hope that it last until the completion of the evolution.

Could I have that kind of fortune? Of course not, the moment the nerves got reattached to my brain, I was able tp feel all the pain until bottled until now. There is a reason why babies need 9 months to create all the organs and nerves in their body, and this is why.

Can I say that I would've been glad to give them up in exchange for a painless evolution? Why didn't the Gods set up things this way? Couldn't they have been more of help?

"You, I had just forgotten about you; you piece of shit sent me into a trap, now you also tell me that because of you, each time I evolve, I'll feel pain?".

"I feel that the more I talk with you, the more my intelligence goes down, I swear that once I get powerful enough I will find you and break you down".

"You know what? I don't care, get lost".

I looked at myself and I must say: I look like a person who starved for months; is this the price of having too much stamina and too few strength and agility? It's probably so.

"Show the skills Eater and Rot, show status, show magic proficiencies".

Not bad, but for now I don't have time to mess with my stat and stay her, it's better to get out of here fast.

In two hours I reached the teleportation circle; I know that in order to become stronger I needed to become a zombie, but as of now I'm much weaker than with only my skeleton body; the time used to come here is three times more than with my previous body.

Doesn't matter, wait for me to modify this body with other being's parts, I'll transplant what I like of them in me, then I will evolve to finalize the transplants, making them part of my body and not just for the look of them. Still, I need to find the suitable ones, for this the notes from the ancestor were even more useful.

In the distance an explosion could be heard... it shouldn't be my fault right? Better to get out of here.

The teleportation circle in the end only required a ruby the size of half my fist... it seems help really did a number on me, I'm sure there are more rubies in this layer that don't need me to fight an elemental golem.

The experience of long range teleport is the same a when I blink, so I don't have any problems with it, in the beginning I feared that it would be another traumatic experience; I'm glad to be wrong sometimes.

As I arrived in the 5th circle, I could see all the previous kind of environment together; the canyon zone, the forest zone, the volcano zone and the mountain zone are forming a square, while in the centre there is a plain.

Here the trial is quite easy: take some kind of key from every zone and bring them in the centre of the plain, where there is a building that is only accessible after you put the four keys in their lock.

In the moment I left the starting point, I could feel magic fluctuations in the air. As I looked up, I could feel a nostalgic sensation while a gigantic magic circle appeared, and an enormous red dragon came out of it... but why is it falling on me? Is it possible to be this much unlucky? Didn't my luck rise to one hundred?
