Chapter 189 – Dog with extra steps

Maya and the sisters decided to show Sari the domain while their parents were getting to know each other. They started with going to Chloe and Fen and their cozy northern lights, but as their baby sister was still asleep, Sophia and Steph, with the help of the others, began to think of a way to talk their family into accepting the gift of magic from them.

“Oh?” They were still in the cozy log cabin when Sophia suddenly felt a stir from Sari, who had been fast asleep in the baby carrier strapped to her chest, and looked down at her.

“Guu…” Still looking and sounding sleepy, the little girl quickly stretched before eventually looking up. “Oo~!” Seeing Sophia’s face, the baby’s expression changed into a beaming smile.

“Hey~.” The tiger smiled back at her.

“Ga~!” Sari clutched Sophia’s chest with her little hands and lightly pressed her face against it.

“Haha, nothing will come out for you from there.” She let out a little chuckle from the ticklish sensation while the baby lightly moved her head from side to side, rubbing it against the tiger. “Ah, you’re just greeting me, huh?” As there were no attempts, Sophia concluded that she wasn’t hungry.

“Gehe~.” Sari tried to imitate her chuckle as she returned to smiling at her older sister.

“Hnng!” She took a lot of damage from her adorableness. “M-Maya, this is bad. It’s making me feel way too many things!” Her heart was aching as her maternal instincts kicked in once more.

“Stay strong!” The cat-girl cheered her on. “You know that a child would make our exploring a lot more complicated.”

“I knoooow.” Sophia started pouting regardless.

“I wonder if those two can hold out so long.” Steph leaned over to Chloe.

  “Mh-hm.” The fox-girl just nodded.

“Anyway, good morning!” The tiger changed her attention to Sari again. “Happy?”

“Wa~!” She rubbed her face against Sophia’s chest once more.

“I take that as a yes.” She gently patted her head in return. “Do you want to meet a very cool wolf?” Sophia glanced at Fen before looking at Sari again. “Wolves are dogs with extra steps if you don't know.”

“Hey!” The dog with extra steps, Fen, didn't like that description.

“Pipe down, you’re the same family, so it’s the easiest way to explain it to a baby."

“Does she even know what a dog is?”

“She knows me!” Steph got closer to the tiger to give her little sister a quick cuddle.

“Mmm!” Sari enjoyed it a lot.

“Would you say the two of us look alike?” Fen stared at the dog-girl. “In a way that makes sense for a baby?”

“What do you mean?” Steph tilted her head. “We could be mistaken as twins!”

"…" He immediately decided he didn't want to continue this conversation.

“Say hi to Uncle Fenny!” Saying so, Sophia walked up to the wolf and got Sari in his line of sight.

“Gi~!” Smiling broadly, the little girl put her hand on his head between his ears.

“Good enough!” The tiger was happy with her reaction.

“…” Fen had some rather mixed feelings about it.

“Is it a good idea to make a baby like wolves?” Chloe scratched her cheek while watching the scene. "Fen and Aura, as well as normal fulls, are fine, but meeting regular wolves would be quite dangerous. Especially on Earth.”

“How high do you think the chances are that a baby would run into a wolf on their own in the civilized parts of Earth?” Sophia stared at her. "If her parents were with her, it wouldn’t matter because they’d do the running and being scared. Actually, it wouldn’t matter if she were alone, either. Whether scared or not, the fate of a baby would be the same.”

“Okay, fair point.” The fox-girl nodded. “I guess it wouldn’t be an issue in this world. I mean the regular one, not the domain, either. I just know you’d find a way to guarantee that she’d never be subjected to any serious harm.”

“Exactly!” Sophia gave her a thumbs-up. “I’d break the laws of the world to protect her. Not only for her, I want to add. The all-in-Sophia-healthcare goes far beyond simple medical treatment.”

“Same!” Steph agreed with her older sister.

“Later, I’ll also show you an even cooler wolf!”

“Ai!” It was obvious that Sari had no idea what was going on, but she was having a great time.

“Hey!” Fen wasn’t having as much of a good time.

"Do you not think Aura is cooler?" The tiger smirked at him.

“…” He went silent. “I’m not going to fall for this trap.”

“Nice job.” Maya congratulated him on his good reaction.

  “I am capable of learning.”

“Well, you are the best male wolf I know, so you got that going for you.” Sophia smiled at him.

“How many other male wolves do you know?” Fen didn’t feel too flattered by it.

“Don't sweat those small details~.” The blonde shook her head. "I love you, and that's all that matters!"

“…” The wolf found it difficult to stay upset. “You’re such a smooth talker.”

  “Sure am!”

“She sure is.” Chloe and Maya also had to agree.

“By the way, is your holiday biome done?" The tiger eventually returned to the reason they came for in the first place. “We wanted to show Sari the northern lights.”

“Almost!” The fox-girl happily clapped her hands. “We want the lights to be a bit bright, so we’re releasing more of our magic into the sky, but other than that, we’re happy. I was spending the day decorating the cabin!”

“I was just giving the fireplace a good burn-in to make sure it’s safe and working properly.” Fen nodded a few times. “Seems good so far, but I need to test it some more to be entirely sure.”

“That is pretty important.” Maya and Sophia were glad he was this responsible.

“You two are just happy that it’s so disgustingly hot in here.” Steph stared at the cats.

“That’s just a positive side-effect to an important work!” They stared back at her.

“Exactly.” Fen also sided with them.

“It has been a challenge.” Chloe scratched her cheek. “Well, stepping outside gives immediate relief from the heat, so I'm not too bothered at the moment. I’m sure Fenfen and I can agree on a temperature that works for everyone once his excitement calms down a little bit, right?” She looked at the wolf.

“I assume we’re not going to decide by majority vote, right?” He cutely tilted his head.

“We are not.” The fox-girl glanced at the cats for a moment before denying him.

“It was worth a try.” Fen gave up. “I’ll take it easy with adding new wood to the fire from now on.”

  “Thank you!”

“We should make a sauna.” Sophia suddenly came up with an entirely different topic. “The wood and the heat, not to mention the general feel of the log cabin and the outside, made me think about it."

“Let’s go!” Steph energetically raised her arm high in the air.

"Why are you agreeing?" The tiger was surprised by her sister's reaction. “I was sure you’d hate the idea.”

“Same reason as the hot springs! They’re also hot, but the naked bonding makes up for it! Saunas are even more amazing when it comes to being naked and bonding!”

"Ahh, fair enough." As she didn't have any horny feelings when coming up with the idea, Sophia hadn't initially thought about that part.

“What’s a sauna?” Maya couldn’t follow their conversation.

“They aren’t a thing in this world?” Sophia hadn't expected that.

“While I haven’t been to one here, either, I’ve definitely heard people talking about it before.” Chloe shook her head. “Maybe they’re rare and only widely known in colder areas? Maya’s from a hotter region, right?”

“That could be it.” The blonde nodded. “It’s the same on Earth, too, I guess. The further north you go, the more saunas you come across.”

“So…?” The cat-girl was still confused. “Steph said something about extreme naked bonding, so stop teasing me already!”

"It's basically a room or a small wooden building with a stove somewhere. The stove heats a bunch of stones that you pour water on to create a lot of steam, which then heats up the room and you. The heat and humidity make you sweat a ton, which is apparently good for your health.”

“Okay, interesting concept.” Maya scratched her cheek. “I’m not the biggest fan of getting sweaty unless it's in bed, though. Also, I'd assume you'd loathe it from the sound of it, Steph."

“That’s because Sophia let out the most important bit!" The dog-girl raised her voice. "We all sit on benches next to each other while getting sweaty. We're naked while doing so, too!"

“Oh!” The cat-girl clapped her hands. “That changes everything! Let’s go!”

“Hmm, I’m not sure about this.” Chloe had some reservations. "We see ourselves naked plenty often, even without being cooked alive, so I don’t have the biggest motivation for this.” The arctic fox was overheating just thinking about it. “I can see how it would fit nicely into the theme of this place, though. Feel free to add a cute sauna hut somewhere near the river. It would be perfect for cooling off after, too.”

“Aww!” Steph didn't like that. “Though, quite understandable. I feel like I’m just talking big here, too. I can see myself never entering it again after the first time, either. Everyone being sweaty together is such a good selling point, though!”

"The fox village did a great job on the hut here, so I'll ask them to make a sauna for me." Sophia wasn't interested in their complaints. "Whether or not it will be cat-only can be discussed afterward."

“Okay!” The others agreed with the plan.

Afterward, as they once more had gotten terribly sidetracked, the group finally focused on Sari again because there was still lots to show to her.
