  Chapter 33: Saramas

  Neuron:”Good, now that the Villagers have arrived, would you three build everything they need?”

  Warnton:”Don`t worry, leave it to us!”

  Brairan:”Yeah, go and complete your quest.”

  Tonan:”See you later”

  Kyle:”By”

  Neuron:”Later”

  And like this their paths diverged, Brairan, Tonan and Warnton, lead the villagers to the previously agreed part of the valley, namely the south part, where also the now holy lake was located, where now a shrine in honor of Apollo stood, increasing the duration of the buff to 10hours.

  Kyle and Neuron instead went to the Town hall.

  “Neuron, why are you going to the Town hall?”” asked Kyle

  “To take some gold, can`t have enough cash if we are going inside a city”

  And like this they opened the vault they build like the previous one, namely underground with the hatch hidden under a carpet, and just to be secure the entrance was in their office, under a oaken Desk, which was not easy to remove.

  Now standing inside they looked at their treasures in awe and then Neuron pocket handful of coins and jewels, totaling to a sum of over 10.000, and Kyle did the same.

  “Neuron, what about our loot, I think this would be the best time to sell them”

  “You crazy, we are going to fly, what if they can`t lift up, or they get exhausted while flying, I don`t want to crash land, I`d let everything behind, minus necessities of course.”

  *Damn, he is right, but this thing,…. I will take it, then if it is to heavy I`ll leave it here, its worth a try anyway*

  Again outside both of them pulled out the whistle they received from the black Pegasus, then after looking at each other they inhaled much air and blew the whistle while thinking

  *I hope it works/I hope the Pegasus hasn`t cheated us*

  The tone they produced was a high pitched one, that strangely even though they always blew with the same strength, went up and down, the whistle hadn`t any holes either with which it would normally be possible.

  Because they heard a strange sound many villagers tilted their head looking at its origin, only to see the two town lords standing near each other, and apparently blowing into a whistle. Then they stopped and looked around, mainly up into the sky, but nothing happened and even the most curious of them became annoyed and turned towards a more interesting thing, namely where and how to build their new homes.

  But 2 minutes later there was a flapping sound, exactly like bird wings, but big ones, behind them, and so no one turned around till a neigh could be heard, and thus making one of the villagers turn around and take a look.

  “Look, there are two Pegasi!” and at this shout every head jerked around, and seeing them the villagers kneeled down.

  “?hm, Neuron look at that” Kyle said while pointing toward the villagers with a trembling finger

  “What the hell, why are they all kneeling”

  Pegasus 1:”It is, because our species is regarded as godlike, and we normally don`t appear before humans”

  Pegasus2:”so ?hm if it isn`t asked for too much would you please so kind to summon us at a place where other humans aren`t able to see us?”

  Neuron:”Sorry about that, so ?hm can we mount here, or shall we go someplace else?”

  Pegasus2:”Could you tell us who those people are?”

  Kyle:”They are the inhabitants of our town”

  Pegasus1:”So you are their Lord, if that is so let’s just impress them some more”

  Kyle:”What does that mean?”

  Pegasus2:”That we will allow you to mount us here before everyone”

  Pegaus1:”but only because you are their Leader, and only this time”

  Pegasus2:”So, where do you want to be taken?”

  Kyle:”Have you heard of Saramas?”

  Pegasus1:”yes, we indeed have”

  Neuron:”Thanks, love to make a good impression” and with that said they both climbed the horses,

  “I ain`t to heavy” asked Kyle tzhe Pegasus he mounted

  Pegasus2:”No, don`t worry”

  Whew*

  Finally on their backs they gave the two some tips on how to position their legs and where to grab with their hands, and then they began to trot, while getting faster and faster till they where galloping at full speed, then they both spread their wings and began flapping them, and then finally taking of the ground, and leaving stunned People behind, that chatted amongst each other while pointing up.

  In the air the Pegasi made a lap of honor which they also used to get higher into the air, and then turning eastwards and vanishing behind the cliffs, where the Villagers still made quite a ruckus, mostly because they were proud, that their new lords are on really friendly terms with Pegasi, who are known to be favored by the gods.

  “Yeeehaaa, this is great!” shouted Neuron to surpass the sound the flowing air produced

  Kyle instead didn`t say a word, because he was to engrossed with looking at the scenery, then the Pegasi made a right turn and Neuron shouted:”Hey, fly straight, I was already able to see the city!”

  Pegasus1:”What, you where able to see something so far?”

  Neuron:”Yeah, I have the eyes of a hawk, now turn over!”

  Pegasus1:”impressive, but like we explained prior, we want to stay hidden from human eyes, so we make a detour,”

  +”What’s going on Neuron, why did you shout”+

  +”the flight will last longer”+

  +”I don`t mind”+ Kyle said, while he looked at the river they just crossed, it just looked so tiny, but then for over half an hour, they flew over grassland, which was kind of annoying, weren`t there some villages scattered.

  Then they flew over the forest Neuron had seen from the tip of Carbonara, what they haven`t seen before is, that this forest is in adjacency with the ocean, and in the middle of the forest stood some mountains, which were tall by themselves, but small compared to those of the Willamar mountain range, not to mention the big mountain which stands in the middle of the continent.

  Kyle:”Would you please change course?”

  Pegasus2:”Why”

  Kyle:”We are heading straight towards those mountains do you intent to fly over them?”

  Pegasus2:”Yes, you said that you are in a hurry, so we decided to take a shortcut.”

  Kyle:”But won`t that be like freezing cold?” he asked while already shivering due to the cold wind blowing.

  Pegasus2:”Don`t worry, we are protected against the wind”

  Kyle:”Well I`m talking about us” he mumbled

  +”Hey Neuron, do you want to be there faster, there is just a little condition”+

  +”Tell me.”+

  +”It will become really cold”+

  +”I don`t mind”+

  *Shit, I take back my words* he thought while trembling and sneezing.

  Currently they are flying between two snow covered mountain tips, where all the wind in the area is concentrated due to the geography, and thus blowing with tremendous force from all sides which made the flight kind of wobbly, which didn`t concern Neuron, cause he already had gotten accustomed to it.

  Due to his jumping skill where he always made saltos in the air, not to impress, he just discovered, that with a salto he hasn`t to jump so high up, to boot it also confuses the enemy. And so as a side effect his stomach grew stronger.

  Instead Kyle wasn`t worried about the temperature because the only thing on his mind was *I feel sick*

  Finally after long 10 minutes they exited the mountains and the Pegasi flew so low, that their hooves touched the highest branches.

  Pegasus1:”before you even ask, we do that so that we won`t get noticed”

  Neuron:”What does that mean? You implying I forgot that you like to stay hidden?”

  Pegasus1:”----“

  Neuron:”-----“

  *You dirty crock*

  Later when it was apparent that they were searching for a clearance in which to land Neuron asked once again:”Couldn`t you fly me over the city?”

  Pegasus1:”No”

  Neuron:”But if you fly really high, so that you look just like a bird?”

  Pegasus1:”Then it would be possible, but at the height we would have to fly it will be really cold, and you won`t be able to distinguish anything anyway.”

  Neuron:”Hmpf, have you already forgotten my Hawkeyes?” he said tauntingly, at hearing this the Pegasus just waved its head back and gave Neuron mighty head but

  Neuron:”You crock, don`t do that again!”

  *Hey, wait did Neuron call him a crock just now?* then the Pegasus threw Neuron off right into a little clearance, and then dived after him *Oh, shit we are screwed*

  Kyle:”Sorry, about my friend he can be quite a problem sometimes”

  Pegasus2:”yeah, my brother too, guess there are two who have found themselves, this is going to be interesting, a we haven`t introduced ourselves yet, I am Isa, and that is my brother Oasho.”

  Kyle:”Ah right, I am Kyle, and this there is my friend Neuron” he said, while he pointed down on the ground where Oasho was chasing Neuron who jumped around frantically using the trees to change his course. Then he shouted:”I have enough!”

  While falling Neuron arranged himself so, that he would land on his feet. As soon as his feet made contact with the ground he performed a roll and then jumped out of the way, because while falling he saw, that Oasho changed course and charged downwards straight at him.

  As soon as he jumped off a dust cloud formed itself behind him, while the earth trembled.

  *That ain`t fair why hasn`t he broken anything, horses legs are fragile!* Neuron thought while he had to make another jump to get out of the way of a charging horse.

  And now the scene described above unfolded itself

  *Damn, this is draining my mana to fast, I have to think of something, yeah this will do*

  And while shouting:”I have enough!”he landed behind the horse, and used the time to procure a ball of thread, to replenish his mana. Then he activated the Thread property and connected every tree he made contact with, with each other and himself, thus he managed to stop Oasho only a meter before him.

  Isa:”What is that?” she asked after underneath them the whole clearance was covered by blue thread, which held her Brother in place

  Kyle:”This is a special skill Neuron has, it allows him to connect different things with each other, and then he is able to manifest this connection, either by making a thread or a rubber band

  Isa:”Rubber Band what’s that?”

  Kyle:”Explaining will take too long, just calm your brother, he’s going to hurt himself” he said, after he saw that Oasho began to trash around violently to break the thread, while Neuron stayed still.

  Isa:”Oasho calm yourself!”

  Oasho:”He called me a crock, I can`t forgive that insult!”

  Isa:”calm down, you aggravated him yourself with that headbutt”

  Oasho:”But I have to kill him for that insult”

  Isa:”look, he is strong, I bet he could have won against you without such measures, but not without hurting you, and I know you also didn’t go full force, so just accept the tie and calm down!”

  Oasho:”Never!”

  *Boys, I don`t get them* she thought.

  +”Hey Neuron, you okay?”+

  +”Yeah, I just can`t move, I have entangled myself

  +”Then just deactivate the thread”+

  +”If I do that I will get run over! I got it I’ll scare him with the eyes of the judge, so he won`t attack me!”+

  ”No, don`t do that!” Kyle shouted making Isa jerk and shaking him off, which was lucky, because he landed straight on Neuron and interrupted him.

  “Get off me!” Neuron shouted, and so that he could move again he canceled the thread, this was used by Oasho to run past him and to gain momentum, while Neuron tried to get out from under Kyle who landed again on top of him. Then he noticed the Pegasus charging at him while the burden on his stomach got lighter

  *Heh, he escaped* he thought while the Image of the charging Pegasus became bigger and bigger *Damn no Mana left* But then a shadow appeared before him and a loud sound echoed through the clearance.

  After Kyle fell on Neuron the second time he saw, that Oasho ran past them and made a turn to charge at both of them *Hey, I am not your enemy* he thought, but because Oasho looked quite serious his thoughts changed *You earned it yourself* while he pushed himself off of Neuron and pulled something out from his inventory.

  What he pulled out was a plain looking tower shield, which was much bigger than his previous one and also of a dark black that seemed to swallow the light.

  This was the only piece Warnton made out of the Grakin door and gave it too Kyle for keeping it till he could equip it, but he promised, that when they come back from their quest he would give them proper gear.

  It was clearly a high quality item, but Warnton said, that when he gets accustomed to the metal and its characteristics, its effects would improve drastically

  Kyle pulled out this particular shield, even though he wasn`t able to equip it, because he didn`t trust the other to be able to shield Oashos attack for which he used his entire body.

  At nearly the last Moment Kyle jumped in his path, and slammed the shield on the ground while sustaining it with both hands and his right shoulder going into a posture a football player uses before charging while he coated the shield with mana. A split second after he was done; a huge force made contact with the shield *Heavy!* and Kyle was pushed back a few centimeters, while a loud

  ~GOOOOOOOOOOOONG~

  Echoed through the valley

  After the sound faded away his arms still trembled, and so he let the shield drop to the ground, only to see some slithering marks on the ground and a white horse 2m away that laid on the side with its legs tangled.

  Then Oasho opened his eyes, shook his head and tried to get up again when Isa landed over him and shouted:”This is enough!”

  Oasho:”I can still fight!”

  Isa:”Both have beaten you so shut up!”

  Then Neuron approached Oasho and said:”Sorry for calling you that”

  *What the hell, Neuron is apologizing, I never thought it possible*

  “Kyle, shut your mouth, or a bird is gonna make its nest in there”

  After Isa let Oasho go he stood up swaggeringly, looked at Neuron and said:”I am sorry too”

  Isa:”good, now that everything is cleared Oasho, you take Neuron and let him look at the town”

  *Oi oi, bad idea, very bad idea* Kyle thought while shaking his head *Either they come down as best buddies, or as worst enemies*

  Isa:”If you let him drop, I am going to tell dad”

  Oasho:”no you won`t”

  Isa:”Try it and you will see”

  Neuron:”Let’s go already!” a Neuron who was fully clothed shouted. Apparently he used the time after he said sorry to open both of their backpacks and dressed himself in all the clothes they had brought with them, he even wrapped himself in some hides he had taken with him to train tailoring, and now he looked like a ball with a head and two short legs and arms.

  +”Hey do you think it is a good idea?”+

  +”Yeah, anyway, I will fasten myself on his back, so that he can`t throw me off, and I quite like this guy, he says what’s on his mind”+

  *Yeah, reminds me of someone else* Kyle thought with dropped shoulders.

  Oasho:”Don`t fall off, if you do I will get in a lot of trouble”

  Neuron:”Don`t worry, I have quite the tight grip”

  Oasho:”Tsh” after that he charged at full speed and then flew off almost vertically while flapping with his wings like crazy which nearly blew Kyle who `coincidentally` stood near the starting point.

  Isa:”There they go, I hope it all goes well”

  Kyle:”Me too”

  Isa:”You know, those two are quite similar, always going through with their head, doing what they want, and also saying what’s on their mind”

  Kyle:”You figured Neuron out instantly”

  Isa:”That happens if you live with one of the same kind long enough, I bet you chose me, because you sensed it from the start”

  Kyle:”Shoot, you got it right” he said, and then both began laughing

  Isa:”Well either they will become great friends, or the worst enemies, I don`t know which is scarier”

  Kyle:”So why didn`t you take him?”

  Isa:”And giving Oasho time to think about revenge, no, this is better, if not their little squabble would have continued, and I have a hunch, that they will become friends”

  Kyle:”Woman’s intuition eh”

  Isa:”What’s that?”

  Kyle:”Never mind, anyway I am going to work on my blacksmithing, do what you want.”

  After some time Isa began munching grass, then she was interrupted by another question of Kyle:”?hm, just wondering how were you able to fly with me on your back, even if everything inside my backpack gets reduced weight by one firth, it is still quite heavy”

  Isa:”Really?”

  “?hm, would you mind showing me your status window?”

  “What’s that?”

  “Just say show status window to Kyle, then you will get it”

  “Okay, So Show Status Window to Kyle!”

  And it appeared before Kyle

  Isa:”I don`t get what’s so important”

  Kyle:”……….”

  *We could have brought everything with us*

  “Hey ?hm Oasho”

  “What is it” he asked rather hostile

  “That was a good fight, lets reassume it sometime else”

  “Yeah it was, how were you able to jump from tree to tree like that?” Oasho asked in a completely different tone of voice

  “Well I went stealing once, and well while escaping I got this skill called jump, I must say, it was quiet useful”

  “I see, and that thread, what was that”

  “hey, aren`t you angry at me?”

  “Not anymore, I vented all my anger, but I must say your friend is quite the sturdy one, till now no one was able to stop my charge head on”

  “Yeah, he is a defender”

  “Defender, what’s that?”

  “Basically it is someone with sturdy armor, and a giant shield, that can block almost any attack”

  “Really, if I recall correctly there exists a legend about such a person, I don`t remember it correctly, but the person described in it was exactly like you told me. It was said, that he was able to stop a swing of a Cyclops club with his hands.”

  ~Whistle~ “That’s awesome, hey wait, I can see Saramas”

  “Hold on now I have to fly high into the air′” and so he did, while Neuron ogled the city.

  From the angle he saw it, Saramas looked unassuming, like any medieval town he had seen in pictures. What he saw with his Hawkeyes was a gate, which was used by many people to go in and outside.

  When Oasho flew at a higher altitude Neuron was able to spot more things, the city was built adjacent to the lake, in which two rivers flowed into, one at the west side, and the other southward, this one was also going right through the city. And then finally Oasho was at the desired height and so he circled over Saramas allowing Neuron to take a good look.

  The river divided the city by one third and both sides were connected by three bridges, the smaller side looked really worn down, and the houses where build irregularly, like one with no sense of street building built them, or which was more plausible is, that more houses were erected over time to compensate for the ever growing populace. Then there was the middle part to which the gate he saw prior led, this gate was connected to a big street, which pointed straight towards a big fountain

  *Guess this is where Newbie’s start*

  But the street continued straight to the port, where many ships anchored and NPC`s worked loading and unloading stuff.

  This part of the city looked, well normal, the streets weren`t lined with the ruler, but they also weren`t as chaotic as the first part. Then there at the east side of the city it was clear that the nobles and rich guys live, all streets where straight, no curves, and no dead ends at all, near the lake was also a city park with trees and grass where Neuron could spot some eating a Picknick, while the Childs run around while playing.

  And within the lake a castle was placed. This castle was build upon an island inside the lake where only ships could enter and leave.

  “Wow, the King who build this must have been really wary of people”

  “hmmm”

  When Neuron finally came back he saw Kyle was diligently forging something while Isa chewed Grass

  “Hey, you don`t have to land, I’ll just jump off”

  After Isa saw that Neuron fell down she shouted:”hey I told you not to drop him!”

  Oasho:”hey, he jumped by himself! So let’s fly home, I want to eat some carrots”

  After they flew away Kyle approached Neuron and asked:”Hey, how was it, did you become friends, and anyway show me the video!”

  “Well guess so, and Show video to Kyle!”

  While Kyle ogled the footage Neuron made, he equipped his bow and shot some arrows high into the air, he was training his shower skill sometimes which was close to level up to intermediate, then after the fifth one a system message appeared

  “Yes, made it!”

  “What?”

  “My shower skill has leveled up to intermediate, and the arrows do more damage!”

  “That’s great!”

  “I know, so let’s hurry!”

  And now they run through the forest not even bothering to fight the wolves and bears that tried to block their way or where just there coincidentally, but they didn`t even stop because now bears and wolves around cities are only fodder, and the EXP they would give upon death was nonexistent for them.

  So the reaction of Kyle was to just ignore them or to smash them aside with his shield and hammer, Neuron just evaded, around them or jumped over them this lasted till they went out of the forest and saw the giant wall that surrounded Saramas.

  A soon as they saw the end of the forest they stopped and quickly dealt with the wolves and bears that followed them. Neuron just threw his shurikens and Knives at them

  *What the hell, three shuriken kill them! How weak are they?* and his reaction was justified, because shurikens where only made to distract your opponent, and not to kill them.

  And Kyle just swung his hammer around, and each hit lifted the creature into the air

  *How the hell, I ain`t swinging so hard*

  But unbeknownst to them their hard work to make the lake paid off and now they had much more strength, than a player in their level range should have. Their strength increase was so high, because they had to break stone with each swing of their pickaxes, to boot, the pickaxes themselves where much heavier than normal ones, because of the Grakin used to make them.

  Guard 1:”What the hell!” he shouted

  At this shout the other guard readied his spear and shouted:”What happened!, is there an enemy?”

  Guard1:”No, I just saw a wolf flying over the trees”

  Guard2:”Hey, don`t drink so much at night, if the lieutenant heard about this you would be penalized”

  Guard1:”hey, yesterday I haven`t drunken anything, and I know what I saw!”

  Guard2”:”But I, and I am sure you too know, that wolves can`t fly!”

  Guard1:”Yeah, I know that too….!” But he was interupted

  Guard2:”Shht, two people are heading this way”

  Guard1:”Hey, aren`t they looking strange?”

  Guard2:”Yeah, both have really ragged clothes, and even a beggar wouldn’t take such a worn out armor for himself.”

  Sadly that was true they both looked really worn out, Neuron because he wore the Leather armor he made before going into the tomb of the forgotten archer which he patched always up, because anything he produced with his tailor skill till now wasn`t pleasing him.

  The plate armor of Kyle had dents everywhere, mainly because of him smashing the rocks, where splinters made many dents in his armor which couldn`t all be repaired, even Warnton had to give up, but also because of his fighting style, he trusted in Mana coating to block any damage, and so his armor had to withstand many blows.

  Guard2:”stop, what do you want inside the city?” he asked, while crossing his lance with that of his companion, to block their way”

  Kyle:”We are here, to enter this town, and also to give report of some bandit raids”

  Guard1:”You can pass” and now unbeknownst to them two people entered Saramas who will forever change it, if to good or bad will have to be decided by later generations.
