Landing on a side of the large crater, Peter started to slide commanding the ground to move him while the truck was circling around the limit. Sliding directly on the ground was harder than using the surfboard but it allowed Peter more reactivity in case of trouble.
The nest was, in appearance, a very large boulder, darker than the brown reddish ground it was partially buried in, the size of a small house, with a couple of holes in it. From those holes, hellhounds were watching as something was getting near their home. They raised themself and started barking as Peter was getting closer.
When Peter arrived in Hell, those creatures were the first ones he met and it ended quite terribly. Now it was time for a good payback. Peter lowered himself on his knee and put his right hand just above the ground, collecting power as he was sliding. He was not sure what to expect about the alpha so he was going with a powerful hit first to maximize his damage.
Concentrating his power, he raised his hand high above his head and extracted a large spear from the ground. He put it above him, floating an inch away from his raised hand, a large one foot large by ten feet long spear. For anyone, it would look like another one of his usual spears except a bit larger, but this one had a secret. Peter had ordered with his power a small part of the rock inside to compress itself to a point where it heated itself and became a liquid overpressurized lava ball only held in place by sheer will. So, as the spear emerged from the ground, no one was knowing what true destructive power that thing had. The consumption of power and the level of concentration to reach that point was a little absurd but still manageable. Also, it was supposed to be a one hit missile.
So Peter launched it. He stopped sliding at a good distance from the nest and lowered his hand clenching it as he tried to keep his concentration on the lava ball inside the spear as it pierced through the air. Hellhounds around the nest immediately started to charge at Peter and soon a small pack of less than ten individuals was rushing him. But Peter smiled as he heard the noise of the truck probably drifting just behind him. A volley of projectiles fused around him as each demon equipped with ranged weapons shooted their weapons hitting the pack.
The impact was quite strong as beasts received a very diverse set of projectiles, slashing, piercing and bludgeoning them. A couple of beasts falled on the ground from this first assault and the rest of them backed off returning to the nest.
“Just one spear ? I hope you know what you’re doing, Primordial Peter.” John said, worried, from behind Peter.
“Just watch.” Peter said with a smile, raising his clenched hand up at torso level as the spear entered the nest by one of its holes. Then Peter opened his hand, releasing his miniature lava ball from its prison.
The lava, suddenly free, expanded instantaneously in a violent explosion spilling lava all around in the nest as the detonation emptied the nest of the bunch of hellhound that stayed behind, shredding their bodies in pieces just before the lava recovered it destroying any trace of the creatures. Finally the boulder cracked and broke in multiple parts falling on the ground as a small lava lake was quickly cooling down where the nest was just a couple of seconds prior.
The poor and defeated pack that was returning to its nest stopped its flee and howled a profound and sad sound. Sorry, but it was either us or you, beast, and the choice was done before I even met you, Peter thought as he trembled from exhaustion. That mini lava bomb trick took more power than he thought and he was still missing a lot of experience to do it again without fearing to pass out.

He watched as the truck went near the broken pack, finishing them before taking their bodies back in the truck. “Damn, I totally forgot. We want those beasts for their blood.” Peter said, starting to slide to return to the truck.
“Hey. I’m a little sorry about the burning of some of those beasts, it’s a waste of resources.” Peter said loudly as he was getting near the door of the cockpit.
“It’s also my fault. I should have reminded you. And I did not expect you to have such a destructive option. Well, at least you probably killed the alpha that was hiding inside the nest. So, mission accomplished.” John said, extending a hand toward Peter.
But before Peter could reach the hand, the ground shook violently forcing the truck and Peter to split ways.
“Shit, what was that ? ” Peter yelled while looking around and trying to get back to the truck.
From where the remnant of the nest was extracting itself from the ground a huge cthulhuesque version of a hellhound. The beast was massive, tall as two elephants and long as a blue whale. Instead of the usual six legs, that thing had seven pairs of members. Four pairs were legs very similar to a normal hellhound with claws at the end except those claws were longer than Peter. A pair, situated in front, almost emerging from the neck, was a twisted version of human arms with one more elbow and ending with an eight finger hand on each side. The last two pairs were wings. The two wings on the front were massive, probably as massive as the body of the beast. The last two wings were small and falling around the back of the beast giving him a skirt. Its fur was greyer than a usual hellhound with white spots around the eyes and at the tips of each member. The tail was ending in a four split instead of the usual two and there were claws at those ends. Only the face was almost untouched with just the mouth longer and teeth more visible.
As it emerged, it howled a horrible sound. “Whaaat waaas thaaat ?”
“Wait, did that beast just talk ?” Peter said to himself before trying to find the truck.
It was accelerating away trying to put some distance between it and the beast while getting closer to Peter. On the truck, demons were readying weapons waiting for a timing.
“Primordial Peter, it’s a fucking Devil Beast.” John shouted. “Just fucking slide away. We’ll try to slow it down.”
“Negative ! The truck and the resources are more important. I’ll take the aggro before disengaging it and hide myself.” Peter shouted back, looking at the beast that was shaking itself, cleaning the dirt around it.
“That’s madness ! Even you can’t survive an encounter against one of those things !” John shouted. As the truck was getting near Peter, he could see John was not smiling anymore.
“Well, Edgar said something similar before I killed him.” Peter said. As the truck was near him, Peter started to slide side by side with it. “So I take my odds with it and you get out. Leader order, John. Just send someone to find me back in a couple hours, I’m not sure I can go back to the town by myself.”
“You’re very stupid sometimes, Primordial Peter.” John said before yelling orders. “I want everyone not on rifle duty on boost, we’re going back home at full speed.”
Peter smiled as he saw the truck getting away. Of course, he was stupid. But who cared ? He watched the beast at it let his massive wings rest on his shoulder giving it a cloak and an aura of majesty and power.
“Who are you, beast ? Do you understand me ? ” Peter yelled toward the creature, not sure of the result.
The beast sniffed the air before howling toward Peter.
“A Priiimordiiiaaal ? How long siiince one waaalk theeese grounds ? How long siiince one of your kiiind meeeet one of ours ? It’s beeeen so long siiince I could taaalk wiiith someone.”
“Well. I’m right here in front of you and ready to discuss.” Peter said, a little happy because it seemed the situation was not going to evolve into a huge fight.
“Yeees ! But fiiirst, leeet’s fiiight ! I waaant to laaash out siiince waaay too long.” The beast moaned.
“Shit.” Peter said.
