A soft knock at Hiro’s door broke the quiet of the night. He looked up from his desk, where the stone tablet still pulsed faintly with green light.
“Come in,” he called.
The door creaked open, and Kaya peeked her head inside. “Hey, Hiro—” she started, only to pause when Hiro looked up and greeted her casually.
“Hey, Mom.”
Kaya froze for just a moment, caught off guard by the word. They had agreed he could start using it, something Hiro himself had requested, but hearing it aloud still made her heart clench. She quickly recovered, offering him a small smile as she stepped inside.
She noticed that Hiro was staring intently at the stone tablet resting on his p, his fingers tracing its surface as though he were reading. Curious, she moved closer and sat beside him on the bed.
“Why are you staring so hard at that thing?” she asked, gncing down at the sb. From her perspective, it was nothing more than an ordinary, inert piece of stone.
Hiro frowned slightly, realizing something was off. “You… can’t see the writing?”
Kaya shook her head. “There’s writing?”
Hiro hesitated before pointing to the glowing text, but the confusion on Kaya’s face didn’t change. That’s when he noticed the faint orange glow in his green eyes, reflecting slightly off the window.
“I think only I can see it,” he muttered, testing his theory by shifting his gaze away. Sure enough, the glow dimmed, and when he focused again, it brightened once more.
Kaya studied his expression carefully. “It’s tied to your abilities,” she concluded. “What does it say?”
Hiro expined that after activating the text earlier, the tablet had now linked itself to his storage ability, meaning he could store and retrieve it at will to keep it safe. Kaya hummed in approval at the convenience of it, before expressing interest in the text itself.
Hiro grinned slightly and told her about Chūta and Yamiha’s basic abilities, including Chūta’s wind affinity and reflexes and Yamiha’s genjutsu-infused chakra webs and venomous bite. Kaya listened carefully, nodding along.
Then, Hiro tapped on another section beled Tips, a part he hadn’t read yet. New text shimmered into existence.
Chakra Siphon: When summons utilize chakra, the summoner’s chakra will be used to supplement the summons. The summoner must be in close proximity for this effect to occur. This ability will turn off if the summoner mentally wills it or if their chakra falls too low.Chakra Growth: By utilizing chakra frequently, the maximum chakra and chakra quality of summons grow. Utilizing the summoner’s chakra via the siphon amplifies this effect.Hiro read the words aloud, his brows furrowing as he processed their meaning. Kaya, however, immediately understood the implications.
She looked at him sharply. “Hiro, this expins why you’ve been so exhausted after training with Chūta and Yamiha.”
Hiro blinked, then slowly connected the dots. Every time Chūta pushed his wind techniques or Yamiha reinforced her webs with chakra, some of his own reserves must have been drained to assist them.
Kaya sighed, rubbing her temple. “You’ve been unknowingly sharing chakra with them this whole time.”
Hiro frowned. “That… makes a lot of sense, actually.”
He leaned back slightly, gncing down at the glowing tablet. This wasn’t just a source of information—it was a direct connection to his abilities, guiding him in ways he hadn’t yet realized.
Kaya pced a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Now that you know, you need to be more mindful of your chakra use. It’s a great ability, Hiro, but it also means pushing yourself too hard could put you at risk.”
Hiro nodded slowly. “Yeah… I’ll have to start managing it better.”
The two sat in silence for a moment, both contempting this new discovery. The weight of the information settled between them, but so did the quiet understanding that Hiro’s journey as a summoner was only just beginning.
