A Chapter 11 Preparations(6)
14th, Blue, 7:02AM, Gyro Night Club
David Lutalo(POV)
The World-no, this state was boring. I had gotten to find that out in the past few days I had been here. I had craved entertainment. Staring at the ceiling all night had gotten nowhere! So, I had decided to take the initiative, to lift my butt from the couch and head somewhere, anywhere, but here. Sleep? That was something that came with strings attached. The strings made me strive to keep my eyes open every single night!
My eyes were spinning, or was the disco ball somehow multiplying itself? I couldn't figure that out. My steps moved in a particular rhythm, with the blaring music having failed to capture my attention. Instead, I was following my own tune, something I had frequently enjoyed in my younger days, before... The accident.
The boredom had forced me to come to this place, to conjure a tune I had mixed feelings about. Back in my State, even with nothing to do, there had been mountains to scale and training drills to orchestrate! But here, I had to behave. To stay stagnant, to conform to their normalcy!
Before coming to this state, my thoughts had never strayed from my one calling, to be the end to all the beasts on the planet, yet now, my surroundings were filled with people who had already given up on battle! They had decided to delude themselves that it was now safe to let go and live, to mate like rabbits, and pretend that everything before this had all been one nasty dream. I couldn't do the same. The nightmare of that day still haunted me.
I was spinning round, taking in the blur of faces around me. None stood out. All were simply normal Karens and Joes. I had thought of Luthor as a peer, a comrade who understood that the work must continue, after all, he had lost both of his parents to them! Yet... He hadn't taken our side. Though, it could be that I had been mistaken from the beginning! That we had been nothing alike!
Interacting with those fools had already made me certain that they could never understand me. They didn't have the flame of will to continue. Even those that appeared to be pushing for hunting everything, were running out of steam. I understood their choices, their actions, yet I could never imitate them, not with the fact that every time I closed my eyes, that yellow pair gazed right back at me as if they had traveled through time.
So, here I was, gyrating to a rhythm only in my head, in a place filled with sweat, booze, drugs and bodies at zero distance. The stench of lust and desire was thick in this place, but my mind was elsewhere.
I had drunk my fair volume of the brown, gross beverage known as beer, wanting to loosen up and forget many things to just enjoy the night, yet here I was, drunk, yet the mind was still working itself to the bone, conjuring the exact thoughts I wanted gone. Clearly, it was making a mockery out of me.
A cackle escaped my lips as the image of that descending golden light replayed within my mind. I had come to term it as the 'Falling star of opportunity!' I had wanted to convince Luthor, and maybe another leader of one of the other states to support the invasion of those tree zealots, but the Star had brought something better! An opportunity to massacre on Kisol! Though it would only be temporary, it would still open up the possibility of one day invading the beast infested continent.
Hmm!? Were the the others looking at me? Was it my cackling? I couldn't really tell as they were all a blur, and my vision was swimming. But, what did it matter! The prospect of slaughtering even more of those vermin was far more exciting than my public image.

My rhythm was broken when upon my latest waltz, I found a figure just standing there, piercing me with her gaze. I paused, drawn by the hunger in her eyes. It bordered on desperation.
"Well well well... What do we have here?! I would love to take a bite out of you, stranger!"
I grinned. This lamb... Didn't she fear the wolf? It had already been blatantly spelled out that I was the big bad in the room. I hadn't missed out on how the general crowd reacted when I entered a room. The fear in their eyes, the shiver of their bodies, the lull in conversation, and most importantly of all, the way they made space around me. It had been a wish of mine to be capable of evoking that same terror in the beasts... A pity.
Yet, here I was, certain that my killing intent had settled around me, clinging to me like mist, yet, she was standing before me with a grin, a hunger in her ruby pupils.
'Her pupils match mine. Could it be something as ridiculous as fate drawing us together?' that idle thought crossed my mind in the moment.
"What do you want, Ruby?"
"Ruby?"
"Yes. That is your designated name, your current identity in my presence. There is no need to introduce yourself, as I have zero interest in getting all chummy. So, if there is nothing, buzz off!"
How was I supposed to get back into rhythm? The girl had broken it, causing the jarring music to tear into my eardrums.
"I am interested in you, in a bond." she said, and I narrowed my eyes while letting a dangerous grin spread across my lips, though I was certain it didn't come out the way I wanted, what with being drunk and all.
With a deep breath that took in the alcohol, sweat and discharged hormones in the air, I cleared my mind for a moment before eating up the space between us to stand just a few inches from her body, my eyes locked into hers, daring her to look away, yet, she held. Admirable!
"It would do you well to fuck off, little girl! I am a monster. I can feel the beginnings of something stirring beneath my pants, and trust me on this... run little rabbit. You can't handle the dragon." I said while still trying to rearrange the pieces of my broken rhythm within. It was better to get back into it fast before the mind could really clear as it would be back to the same boring thoughts as before.
Everything crumbled as I registered a wetness upon my lips, with a small tongue prying open my lips to start playing around in my mouth. I froze for a second, trying to parse what had happened only for everything to register another second later. Was she kissing me?!
Everything turned into a searing flame of passion in that moment and I snaked a hand behind her back, pressing her lithe form into mine. I felt her hardened two mounds on my chest, her heat on my body, and her crimson eyes... They were burning with hunger as she too, circled her arms around my neck, answering the question that was my passion.
I didn't know how long our tongues intertwined in their own passionate dance, only for the sensation to vanish as she was ruthlessly pulled away! With that action serving to fully disperse the alcohol within me.
"Brat! Do you know what happens to someone when they mess with my woman?" a towering mountain of muscle decided to take her place, all huffing and puffing like an outdated steam train. But I was still lingering on her scent, her hunger, her primal need to merge with me. She had awakened the beast only for it to start starving because some fool I had no idea about, had decided to intervene! His woman? Such things never mattered to me.
My eyes lazily drifted over to the woman. There was a shine in her eyes, and she didn't even appear to care about struggling from the hands of the punks restraining her.
Ah! It finally clicked. She had just been using me! And I had thought there had finally appeared a woman bold enough to approach me. She must have wanted me to get into a conflict with this meat head. For what? A chance to get away? Or was her goal something else?
Did it even matter at this point? It didn't!
"Are you smiling, little twig?" the big man's rough grated on my eardrums, with my eyes lazily circling back to him.
"I was bored. Thank you, little girl over there for bringing color back into my black and white world!" I bowed a little, yet felt the wind pressing into my head, which prompted me to dodge to the side. Was the giant all brawn and no brains?!
"You dared to dodge, little midget?!" he shouted, genuinely offended. For real! Even a chicken would run if you try to catch it! That's simple common sense, and also the natural law of the world! Why would the idiot get enraged over something so fundamental to life?
I kicked out at the back of his knee, making certain not to crush his bones as that would be too troublesome. He buckled onto one knee before I nabbed at his forehead with a fast right jab, rattling his brain, with his head arcing back. For a moment, I had thought he was going to lapse into unconsciousness from such a light blow, which would have been disappointing, but, his massive hands tried to hug my waist. I leaped back, avoiding the blow, while feeling the touch of bodies behind me. The contact points vanished as all hurriedly scurried away.
"It appears you have some fight in you." the big man commented, while I merely grinned back.
"You must have been part of an army." he stated it for the fact that it was.
"What? Are you scared yet?" I taunted even as I scanned his face, which was now impassive as compared to before. And I had thought he had cared about the girl!
"Isn't this great!" he howled, almost drowning the music before charging toward me.
I licked my lips at the same time as my heart jumped in excitement. The engine that was my heart sent my blood raging as I pounced into the fight, fully expecting to get rid of the boredom, no matter how fleeting the respite would last.
