The Chevrolet Intervention

Having quickly got ready, enjoyed a hurried dinner, and shared the last of the sparkling Italian wine, Elias and Elizabeth, filled with excited anticipation, rushed to the opera performance of the famous diva Serafina.

?Stepping outside, Elias and Elizabeth hurried to the bus stop, only to see the red lights of the city express fading in the distance with disappointment. Elizabeth said softly, her voice tinged with frustration: "We won’t make it. The next one isn't for forty-five minutes. And I really wanted to see it from the very beginning." Elias discreetly pulled out his phone and activated the virtual Fairy. He whispered almost soundlessly into the microphone: "We need to make it by the start of the performance." The Fairy did not reply with a voice, but a single phrase appeared on the gadget's screen in a bright, flashing font: "You will attend the performance today." Elizabeth asked with a hint of resentment in her voice: "Elias, who are you talking to?" "Oh, right," Elias remarked, hiding the phone. "Just thinking out loud."

?Not a minute had passed when an old but well-maintained Chevrolet rolled around the corner with a soft rumble. Driving past, the driver stopped and rolled down the window, revealing the smiling face of Thomas—a friend and former neighbor who used to live on the same floor. He asked with genuine surprise: "Guys, what are you doing here at such a late hour?" Elias quickly explained the situation, and the good-natured friend, wasting no time on pleasantries, commanded: "Jump in, quick! What are you waiting for?"

?Without losing a moment, Thomas swiftly delivered Elias and Elizabeth right to the doors of the opera house. Elias and Elizabeth jumped out of the car with a sigh of relief. Elizabeth turned to him: "We are so grateful to you, Thomas. We would love to have you over at our place sometime." He gave a friendly wave: "Run along, lovebirds! I still have plenty to do!"
