Chapter 18 : The Noble’s Son

Ethan Walter, after thinking it over, finally remembered who this person was. He was a noble who loved to act cunningly, oppressing the weak to seize their wealth. Since most of the Surcy were poor people, it was no wonder they hated Sizhi so much. However there was one thing that made Jyu wonder, then how could Sizhi become a Surcy.

“Don’t think about it, your enemy is me. Let’s finish what we started the other day,” said Marco as he had already thrown a punch toward Jyu.

Actually, Jyu was already quite skilled in fighting. Growing up in a harsh environment had given him excellent combat agility. That was why, even though he had not received much training at the DV Army academy, he was already able to match Marco’s strength. Maybe he would not win, but Jyu would certainly put up a fierce resistance.

“Why do you keep dodging, you filthy brat?” Marco shouted, annoyed by Jyu’s nimble movements.

In truth, this was Jyu’s strategy. He deliberately kept dodging, moving to get closer to Sizhi. In his heart, he felt he could not bear to see a girl being ganged up on by seven people at once.

Besides that, Jyu seemed to want to stall for time so he could study the power of the soul core. According to Master Jenna, this power would be quickly mastered in a dangerous situation.

This strategy clearly benefited Jyu, but for Marco it only made him angrier. In an instant, he seemed to release his true power, his body slightly enrged, and the pupils of his eyes changed to blue.

Sure enough, Marco’s speed and strength increased rapidly. Jyu found it difficult to dodge, and now he even had to block the attacks coming at him. Jyu’s physical strength was not yet as great as Marco’s. Even when blocking his attacks, Jyu was already in pain.

“Is this the power of the soul core? His punches are so strong!” Jyu muttered.

“Why are you in pain? I haven’t even used all of my strength,” said Marco.

Now Jyu was like a deer being hunted by a lion. Wherever he ran, he would be chased, and several times he had already been struck by Marco. Punches and kicks had injured his body. Even his temple was flooded with blood.

Sizhi experienced a more tragic fate. The girl truly became a living punching bag, beaten mercilessly until she grew weak and powerless. Even worse, the seven people who ganged up on her showed no pity. In fact, they grew more enthusiastic in torturing Sizhi when she was helpless.

Jyu and Sizhi simultaneously remembered Master Jenna’s message during yesterday’s training. “In a dangerous situation, focus! Focus on your soul core and release its power.”

But this was not as easy as they had imagined. Even maintaining focus in the middle of battle was extremely difficult. Their concentration was constantly disrupted by the pain from the enemy’s attacks.

At this moment, Jyu was truly rendered powerless. He could no longer dodge or block Marco’s attacks. A powerful punch nded right on his stomach, instantly making Jyu kneel in pain. Blood immediately dripped from the corner of his lips.

Marco was about to attack again, this time intending to kick Jyu’s head. But Jyu still wanted to resist. He grabbed a pebble and flicked it with his thumb. A direct hit! The pebble struck Marco’s right eye.

At that moment, Jyu could breathe a sigh of relief. His concentration returned, and his brain and soul core began to connect. Jyu already felt the signals of power. Slowly, that current of power flowed through his bloodstream, making his heart race faster, his muscles tighten, and the pupils of his eyes turn blue.

  Jyu succeeded!

Swaying, he tried to stand up. “The real fight is just beginning.”

Marco was shocked to see that Jyu had awakened the power of the soul core. Yet after that, he smiled cynically, as if he still underestimated Jyu.

  “So you’re getting serious now!”

On the other hand, Sizhi experienced the same thing. In a crucial moment while attacks kept striking her body, Sizhi managed to summon the power of her soul core. With this power, she was able to block the attacks and escape from the encirclement of her enemies.

“Fufufufu, you succeeded!” said Master Jenna, satisfied as she watched her new students’ power develop.

Interestingly, Jyu and Sizhi are now united, standing back-to-back.

“It’s better if we protect each other now,” Jyu said softly.

“I agree!” Sizhi replied, her breath ragged.

Marco and his friends immediately attacked. Once again, they came like wild beasts about to devour their prey.

Jyu and Sizhi prepared themselves. “Come at us, you bastards!” Jyu shouted with burning anger.

Now they fought at close range. An exchange of blows occurred. Marco and his friends unched attacks easily, but Jyu and Sizhi blocked and struck back. Several people were thrown back when hit by Jyu’s punches or kicks.

However, the brutal fight sted only 30 seconds. Jyu and Sizhi could no longer endure it, and both of them fainted. Jyu and Sizhi lost!

Winning against eight people who had already awakened the power of the soul core was impossible. Being able to st a few minutes was already an achievement.

After Jyu and Sizhi’s defeat, the battle royale continued. The remaining eight people engaged in a brutal fight, and Marco won. He was entitled to the 10,000 prize.

  ---

  His eyes slowly opened.

“Where am I?” Jyu said softly as he regained consciousness.

At that moment, Jyu felt pain all over his body. He could barely move. Almost his entire body was wrapped in bandages, like a mummy.

Now Jyu was in a hospital. Right beside him was Sizhi, who was also being treated, only she was still unconscious. Her condition was not much better than Jyu’s, her entire body was also covered in bandages.

Jyu moved his head to look around. “There’s a window, it’s already night, there’s moonlight. Does that mean I’m outside the DV Army headquarters?”

Jyu tried to get up, even though he had to struggle and endure the pain. Finally, he managed to sit, then stand. Jyu chose to look out the window.

“I’m really outside the DV Army headquarters. So I’m in a hospital?”

This time, Jyu walked toward the door, intending to leave the room. But unfortunately, the door was locked from the outside. Jyu kept trying to open it, as if he were about to break it down.

“Where are we?” Sizhi’s voice suddenly sounded soft.

Jyu's noise woke Sizhi from her sleep. Jyu immediately turned around. “We’re in a hospital.”

Suddenly, the door opened, and Wirtz appeared with an angry expression. “What are you pnning to do after opening this door?” he said, slightly shouting.

Jyu was no less emotional; he confronted Wirtz. “Why is the door locked? I’m not a prisoner.”

“So you won’t run away! A student like you isn’t allowed to leave the DV Army headquarters, but because you were dying there was no other choice but to bring you here.”

“Rest! Don’t you dare run away because the stake is your life,” Wirtz said with a sharp gaze at Jyu.
